IMHO, frequently discharging myself to large metal objects lowers the risk enough. Sure, if I had some sort of grounding apparatus, I'd use it, but I don't have one; I have yet to damage a board in this way (to my knowledge)
I taught myself how to do that, so I would say anybody could (as long as you're good with common sense). Best to just find a computer you don't care about, take it apart, and put it back together.
Installing Windows is easy.. after the new system is built, you boot off of the Windows CD and it'll install itself on the hard drive.
@nomoremuffans when you installing an Os. you but a windows or ubuntu installation disc in the cd drive.
then boot it.

Is it enough to discharge to metal UNgrounded objects (like unplugged pc case) or is it better to earth ground (touch earthed metal)?
Is it dangerous for the components to work on them earth grounded while they're in an ungrounded case ?

i just built my first pc yesterday, with only knowledge of how to install a graphics card, lol. It's not as hard as you think it is.
Everything you need to know is in the manuals also.

not much, you just have to read up on specific parts of the computer and such. Basically a lot of reading.

It's actually pretty easy to do, just imagine that you're putting a fragile puzzle together. Taking one apart however, that's a whole nother story.

I do the same :) You better use an electric screw drive it saves around 15 mins.
