@neusturm no. You are wrong. Mixeygoat is right. He uses the shakehand grip for play, but for the serve, he uses the penhold grip. the grip he uses there for serve is a penhold grip with a shackhand paddle.
If you watch the video carefully, then u can notice that he actually changes the grip into the shackhand grip right after he serves.
I don't get it...its not any kind of special serve, not well disguised or anything..just a normal server, some backspin, a little side, the guy had no problems reading and returning it well.
@Opalance By looking at the serve you might think it's side spin but it might actually be backspin. That's what top players do, give you a serve that looks like one spin but is actually another. I play professionally.
@pbsmick ....so? That's not a pro technique, that's basic table tennis. I'm not a pro and I use that type of serve as my main forehand serve, mix in backspin to trick people into thinking they can attack is sometimes and sidespin to get pop ups to attack. This isn't impressive, it's clear what's going on.

@Opalance Thats because you saw it in slow motion and that 'guy' is Ryu Seung Min!

@pbsmick Yeah, I can read his jersey, but that serve is by no means tricky or special in any way.
