  • Thank you manurawiti for posting this - a truly beautiful piece of work, complimenting the beautiful talents of Maisey & JJ..I cried through the whole thing first time round - you cannot help but feel moved by it. It makes me feel so blessed and grateful to live in such a beautiful country such as Aotearoa, and proud to be Maori.

  • heya, do you know the chords if so can you please post them up !! (:

  • @shonnybby95 - Not 100% sure as i pickd chords up listening... engaari/but if u have a capo...put it on 2nd fret. Starts with Em, C (A barre), D ... this is an excellent post to listen to as this version u can hear JJ's strumming...sori cant help u thea..still figuring it my own self! JJ also uses open chord strum after playing Em U can play same chords without capo, but of course wont be in same key as Maisey. Kia ora.

  • Im Pretty Sure Your Right? Thats The Story I Know?

  • Wrong.

  • The song was written by Wiremu Nia-Nia- in the early hours of the morning in Tiniroto on a farm known as Bar 20 (surrounded by Totara)-inspired by Moetahi Jones.-Lyrics and tune were also assisted by Ki Te Taha Maori at Mangahanea Marae. Awesome.

  • Tiniroto-1983.A farm known as Bar 20. On a early morning- surround by Totara.

I believe it to be written by Wiremu Nia Nia and tune/lyrics assisted by Ki Te Taha Maori at Mangahanea Marae. Inspired by Moetahi Jones for his hospitality and teachings of Te Reo and Tikanga.

  • I first heard this sung by two St J girls- but was always told that I should hear Maisey sing this. Now I have! LOL about a million trillion times! BEE-YEW-TEE-FULL!
