I tried this in training today, and to my suprise (and uke's) I managed to get this precise technique to work. I've never thought of using my left leg to trap the arm like that. Great stuff! :)

Sambo claims they adopted many styles from different cuultures within the soviet union, and probably did, however, Vasili Oschepkov brought Sambo the ground game from judo. Spiridonov may also have contributed as he learned jujitsu. but judo's ground game was more similar to today's bjj back than.
@churuscan Search for "puppet master" in bjj, I've used it and it does work, if your opponent doesn't know it it will work if you get the hook under his arm.
