  • How do you pause time?

  • Swimming, please. For stealthy water kills.

  • Wich engine do you use??

  • @johanderkselult123 I think they use there own engine called the pheonix engine, I think

  • The sword combat is really turning out...

  • i bought this game about a week ago and its so much fun cant imagine once this game goes into beta

  • No water shader?

  • What is the name of the editor?

  • Wow.....this game looks amazing!

  • Truly a case of Talent>Resources, especially when Overgrowth is one of the most technically amazing things I've seen. On the artistic side, who does the mocap?

  • Will this game have native Xbox 360 controller compatibility? Being an action-adventure game, I would think it should work much better on a control pad.

  • @DelanoGoesToDenmark They have the option to add a controller now, so I'm sure the full game will be fully controller compatible

  • I really like the style of this game, I understand that the current water model is a placeholder for dynamic/animated water, but will it retain the same style the static model has now? And will there be small bodies of water as well? (i.e rivers, ponds, and lakes)

  • Is it just me or does the player rabbit always die at the end?

  • Yaaaay, linux! :D

  • As soon as linux port is ready I will buy this game!

  • @WolfireGames just played the new alpha 158 on my new computer and this is the first time i've ever played this game. It is freakin amazing!!! And i love the challenge of fighting, totally new style and plus im not used to keyboard controls, so its a learning experience. Guys, take your sweet ass time with this game, cuz i know that wait will be worth it in the end. Peace

  • how come when i fight it doesnt look as cool as when you fight?

  • 1:00 HE SAID "LINUX PORT"!!

    HOORAY!!!1

  • More effort has gone into this game than the full beta and alpha of Minecraft.

  • @GrawrawrLPs hey man i love them both

  • This is so getting there I can hardly wait for the Linux release. (Also curses to Khrona for taking so damn long!)

  • is this an rpg game?

  • @KeyChow; no

  • SHUT UP! JUST TAKE MY MONEY

But really I wish that I had money to pre-order this game, you deserve big succes and richness

  • i gota ask, for people who's computers arent as powerfull, can there be some good grafics options ?

  • Yeej Some Linux News! :D

  • Please add dismemberment, and gore so you could cout limbs off with swords and stuff.

  • I've preordered the game once, lost the email containing the key, so I bought it again. And to be honest I would buy it a third time purely because it is amazing and want to support these guys.

  • i hate how demanding the game engine is :\

or is it just because it's still an alpha?

  • @aviza12 No, it's because you have a bad computer

  • @zodiac868 well, it might be right...

but when i run a contemporary game (such as skyrim), with the same resolution - it runs flawlessly.

  • Hello, i love Lugaru but, how will i know if Overgrowth will work on my PC? Also, will there be Player Made Maps to download?

  • awesome!

  • This is freaking good with campiagn

  • i would like to see a change in the splatering blood textures just to put more depth into the combat =)

  • Furry Furever <3

  • this is what preorders are for, for keeping great indy developers alive, not for AAA ea or activision titles to bleed us dry

  • YES!! Linux PORT!! :p

  • LINUX PORT!!!!!!!!!!!

    Finally!

  • Can we get some more gameplay stuff this week?

  • I'm not as thrilled about Alpha videos as I was months back. Maybe it's just because the updates aren't really that interesting anymore. It's nice to see progress, but the progress I loved viewing the most were the gameplay aspects, models, and animation stuffs.

  • @JakeSpringhorn Well, it's not the shiny exterior that makes the car move, it's the ugly interior engines. XD

  • would like to give up my money for this game but... before i would id need to see an actual lets play or commentary

  • @majoraustin51 cant be a lets play if they havn't started on a campaighn to play through

  • So cool how the bodies stack in the end. So cool!

  • Did I just hear what I thought I heard!!!!!! Making some progress with the Linux Port!!! :D I LOVE that! THANK YOU for keeping that alive and pushing for it!!!

  • Lots of people who have never built a game engine in their life in these comments.

Take all "facts" with about a tablespoon of salt.

  • 1:12 thats come cool looking sword fighting, I like the sounds as well

  • You guys need to understand that graphics, animations and scripting arent the only hard parts. The more difficult phase is creating a really good replay value for the game, whether its the editor (HL2's hammer) or multi-player or single-player story ... Anyone agrees ?

  • 1:01 Thats how i feel when im falling down in a dream lol

  • Yay. DLing now!

  • 157, 157, ... that's more than 3 * 52 ... has it really been three years already?

  • Bunnehfight!

  • I'm disappointed whenever these videos end. The graphics look so real, especially on the desert map. Keep up the good work Wolfire, you guys rock!

  • the battle at the end was awesome! movie quality stuff!

I can't wait to see the machinima that shows up based on overgrowth...we could have epic adventures!

  • I just love how these alpha's are better then some generic "large" games

  • @CovertOddity2 Yeah, it's amazing what developers can do when they care about their customers, not only the money.

  • @CovertOddity2 How are they better? You can't hardly do anything at all.

  • @Nyocurio These are alpha test, they are not supposed to be playable, release these to the public to show the progress, and to show what the engine is capable of. Once the game matures into the (late) beta phase, then will you be able to see the game play.

These alpha's are better as in that there is way more attention to detail; and face it, way more love for than most large games that are pushed out to earn some money.

Go and build a lvl, try to parcour, it is great fun.

  • @CovertOddity2 I know what alphas are, thank you.

And I cannot really see where there are so many more details than average games..

I mean, it is a fighting game, so of course there is lots of detail in that regard.

But other things, like real water for e.g. which is common in most such games which you can swim through won't be present at all. Having each and every feature explained in every detail weekly Is obviously gonna make a different impression than just releasing a game.

  • @Nyocurio detailed physics, effects, sound effects, animation, collision, among other things.

  • @crazyjak56 detailed physics: HL² did it ten years ago

sound effects: super mario did it

animation: how are you going to create a game without these

    collision: see above

  • @Nyocurio Your just a pessimist.

  • @crazyjak56 Am I a pessimist too for saying "there most likely won't be any aliens"?

  • @Nyocurio No but you do seem to think this game is just an unimpressive indie game.

  • @crazyjak56 Then I wouldn't have preordered it about half a year ago.

I think the fighting mechanics are very intriguing too.

I just don't like it when people endlessly exaggerate every little bit of it to death, and then there's that "this is 10 times better than [pro 60$ game]" shit

  • @Nyocurio How do you know there won't be real water?

  • @Evilhamster95 search the forums for "Water In Lugaru 2"

  • @Nyocurio That was in 2008. Nobody knows what the real plans are yet.

  • Okayyy. What went wrong? This Alpha has super smooth shadows...while skyrim has blocky one v.v

  • @Sebal007

    It's called dedication

  • @Sebal007

Different shadow methods. Bethesda devs probably have a good reason for choosing what they chose.

  • @Sebal007

i would imagine it's to do with reducing GPU and CPU usage. they probably could make the graphics a lot better but it would end up taking a supercomputer to run.

  • @heavydude11

Yeah, plus bethesda has that Valve thing going on where they want everyone to be able to run the game regardless of the platform.

That's what pisses me off about PC fanboys blaming consoles for games with graphics that are "okay". Not everyone's rig has a fucking SLI GTX 580 in it. Not everyone has a fucking watercooled octocore CPU. Not everyone has 32 gigs of ram. PCs vary, and that's a big problem for devs.

  • @xalener That is why you have graphic settings on pc.

  • @deadly840

yeah. But that's the thing, The more power the game needs, the more effort needs to be put in those lower quality assets in order for them to be practical.

  • @xalener oh im sorry they get billions for games i feel so sorry for them ... look at shity cod they dont bother change shit but lock everything for PC and yet its full price game ... It was not a problem in past, now it is ?

  • @xalener consoles suck. deal with it.

  • @xalener the only "Problem" for devs is money, making the game ugly enough to run on consoles. Graphic settings can be tweaked to lower on computers so you don't seem to know what you are talking about. Also, graphics are not the only things PC funboys complain about; take skyrim for an example. UI is shit and clearly designed for console use. Which could be ok if it was ok for computer too, or they made tweaks to it to better fit the PC. But they dont. Great game anyways.

  • @etusax While Skyrim's UI might've been designed for consoles, its typeface selection clearly wasn't. Futura Condensed on a 35" TV makes baby Jesus cry.

  • @MagFlare And this, children, is why we buy Skyrim for PC.

  • @GHhog No, we buy Skyrim for PC to enjoy the fruits of the robust modding community. We don't buy Skyrim on PC to enjoy a PC-unfriendly interface combined with a console-unfriendly typeface.

  • @MagFlare I entirely agree. But hey, more reasons right

  • @MagFlare I don't get it. Just because it's easy to use doesn't make it "console". It just makes it good. I guess you want the screen completely covered in words and numbers to feel like a pc gamer.

  • @doltBmB Untrue. I want the console version's UI optimized for controller input and a TV screen and the PC version's UI optimized for keyboard-and-mouse input and a monitor. These aren't irrational things to want, and the compromised hybrid UI they ultimately settled on isn't good for either PC gamers OR console gamers.

  • @MagFlare The mouse support is a little dodgy, true. But if that bug was fixed it would be an excellent UI in any case. Maybe it could scale better to an SD display too. But this has been an issue with games since the HD consoles first arrived.

  • @MagFlare "Robust modding community"? Listening I'm not trying to start some stupid argument, but last I checked the Elder Scrolls games(all of them) are the reason those Nexus sites exist. Again, I'm not trying to cause an argument but just look at half the things those guys make. Some are good but those are outnumbered by some truly messed up things.

  • @MagFlare

    *cries*

  • @xalener maybe. But it doesnt look like its using any advantage of DX11. Its more based on konsole >.<

  • @Sebal007 The game doesn't use DirectX at all. It uses OpenGL because the game is for Mac, Linux and PC -- not any of the consoles.

  • @AubreySerr OpenGL? ohhh shiiitt

  • @jerkakame - Don't knock OpenGL - it's bloody good!

  • @frostek Maybe, but bloody unstable. Doesnt matter how good your computer is, if there is something odd, opengl will lag hell and crash. Maybe it depends on the game, HL1 lagged on my old comp, while Quake 3 worked flawless.

  • @jerkakame There's more to games than their graphics engines. Personally I've had no issues with either game.

  • @frostek good for you, my third computer lags like hell when theres an explosion och someone uses a flashlight in hl1 or cs

  • @AubreySerr no, by talking about DX and consoles i reffered to Skyrim. Skyrim doesnt seem to use any advantages of DX11

  • The combat is sooo amazing.

  • I was wondering if there will be swimming and possibly underwater combat, once the place-holder water is replaced?

  • @ZiegHolloway Underwater combat? Get the fuck out. Seriously.

  • @ZiegHolloway No.

  • You should add a relaxed pose for weapons when characters aren't aware of enemies. (Even the player's character.)

  • wuts the name of the sand dune map?

  • If they do add a water engine it would be awesome to have a mission on a big sailing ship

  • @DPsmdg .... WATER SLIDE FIGHTS!

  • @DPsmdg Even better, a stealth mission on a ship at night where you have to rescue a prisoner from the hold.

  • u guys are amazing

  • Will the water stay static like that, or are you going to add wave animations?

  • More, I WANT MORE DAMINT MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE

  • Will you guys be offering this game on Steam when it comes out?

  • There is a longer pause than usual between "in alpha 157" and "which you can try if you've preordered"

  • @paradajzisnicla Oh you clever you

  • @paradajzisnicla yeah... it scared the shit out of me too.

  • @paradajzisnicla lol, you're too addicted to this

  • Ultimate respect for Wolfire

  • i hope the game will be as awesome as i hope it'll be...

  • "In this video" are the best three words

  • I can't wait to see what you can do with water, everything else you do is amazing.

  • Wolfire, JUST SO YOU KNOW... I am saving all the money I can from my weekly allowance so that I can preorder the game. You deserve every fucking penny for this... Multiplatform, even for Linux, updating every single week and adding awesome gameplay features, all with an already astounding fighting system, AI, and sandbox editor. I hope you get media attention guys... You deserve it.

  • I demand an underwater level when you jump into the sea.

  • @TheDefiantBadger there will be no water levels in Overgrowth.

  • @Nyocurio Absurd humour seems lost on you.

  • @TheDefiantBadger On the interwebz. yes.

  • I cant wait to see him add water, please allow swimming so we could have water missions and pull people off of docks and ... yes.

  • Dude is afraid of breathing while recording ... downloaded from piratebay ;^)?!

  • Really weird voice as always o.o STOP SAYING THE DAMN PREORDER PART .. makes me sick :^)

  • @MartinCanMakeMovies Dude you are really, in the wrong place, these updates are great! Wolfire's method of keeping their fans/users in the loop on progress made is really appreciated. The fact that they are self funding the game through pre-orders and self publishing the game means the game gets to stay focused on what WE the users/players and THEY the developers want without the butting in of any Publishers, THATS a huge win for a minor "pre-order over here" at each video.

  • Can't wait for the Linux port! :D

  • I think the blood sound effect is a bit to loud. It sounds a bit like glass or stone granules dripping instead of blood =)

  • FIGHTING ON THE INTERNET MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I AM NOT AS WORTHLESS AS I PREVIOUSLY FELT.

  • @JohnnyClutchh Are you skipping school today to yell at people in youtube? You're already failing your English class.

  • @JohnnyClutchh RAAAGGGEEEEE

  • @JohnnyClutchh Rage more plz

  • @JohnnyClutchh LOL your an idiot. Rage

  • @JohnnyClutchh hamachi multiplayer is not an actual feature -.-

  • cant see any big corporate developers saying how the engine works (like really works) problems EA and Activision ?

  • they should put a link to the spf in the description.

    thumbs up if you agree!

  • this game has one of the most complete combat systems i've seen outside a fighting game

  • It reallu feels like your falling... amazing

  • 90 seconds? come on.... give us more!

  • When you fall a distance you hear this whooshing sound but then it stops very abruptly. You should add a loud sound when you land so that it makes it feel more like you're landing hard. Also, if you're falling a great distance you shouldn't just land like if you were making a simple jump, but more like you're landing hard and you go into a ball shape (It's kinda hard to explain).

  • YAAAY! I pre-ordered! Too bad my mobile modem is too slow and I can't dload the alpha version becasue it gets interrupted :-(

  • @dogzer You should try JDownload!

  • @Grym99 Thanks! I found the bit torrent thing! It's dloading steady! :D

  • @dogzer You're welcome! Glad to be able to help :)

  • yay no thumbs down go wolfire!

  • Yaaaay Linuuuux

  • My life has led up to this final moomeent ;9

  • I can help with the linux installer

  • Windows, Mac, Linux and weekly update videos with a forum and a Pre-Order Alpha. God why aren't more devs like this?

  • @J0eyBe its freakking impressive what those devs are doing( not a clue how many devs are)

  • @yksnimus I think its one guy and the art director.

  • i always cringe whenever the rabbit lands from a really long jump, like at 0:48. will there be fall damage?

  • @Flooshy There is.

  • I'll preorder as soon as the Linux port is ready.

  • Linux poooooort, all the way across the sky!! :O

  • When the poor rabbit fell I yelled for him!

  • Can anyone tell me what resolution options there are, i'm currently playing in 800x600.

  • @thanger2 You can edit the resolution in the config file. It'll be in C:/Users/*YOU*/My Documents/Wolfire on Windows 7.

  • keep it up awesome game in progress, pre-ordered it in a109 one thing that is needed is more steam support though :)

  • this game isnt even finished and its the greatest game of its time and platform.

  • Put it in the Humble Bumble!

  • Liked it before even watching it!

  • O EM GI
