Whenever a player or AI sucessfully active blocks or rolls out of a fall from being hit they should regain a small amount of their life back. This would make for longer fairly more difficult fights and compel the player to try n also use the environment and weapons while playing and Id say it would be more fun. Anyone agree??
Truly a case of Talent>Resources, especially when Overgrowth is one of the most technically amazing things I've seen. On the artistic side, who does the mocap?
Will this game have native Xbox 360 controller compatibility? Being an action-adventure game, I would think it should work much better on a control pad.
I really like the style of this game, I understand that the current water model is a placeholder for dynamic/animated water, but will it retain the same style the static model has now? And will there be small bodies of water as well? (i.e rivers, ponds, and lakes)
@WolfireGames just played the new alpha 158 on my new computer and this is the first time i've ever played this game. It is freakin amazing!!! And i love the challenge of fighting, totally new style and plus im not used to keyboard controls, so its a learning experience. Guys, take your sweet ass time with this game, cuz i know that wait will be worth it in the end. Peace
I've preordered the game once, lost the email containing the key, so I bought it again. And to be honest I would buy it a third time purely because it is amazing and want to support these guys.
I'm not as thrilled about Alpha videos as I was months back. Maybe it's just because the updates aren't really that interesting anymore. It's nice to see progress, but the progress I loved viewing the most were the gameplay aspects, models, and animation stuffs.
Did I just hear what I thought I heard!!!!!! Making some progress with the Linux Port!!! :D I LOVE that! THANK YOU for keeping that alive and pushing for it!!!
You guys need to understand that graphics, animations and scripting arent the only hard parts. The more difficult phase is creating a really good replay value for the game, whether its the editor (HL2's hammer) or multi-player or single-player story ... Anyone agrees ?
@Nyocurio These are alpha test, they are not supposed to be playable, release these to the public to show the progress, and to show what the engine is capable of. Once the game matures into the (late) beta phase, then will you be able to see the game play.
These alpha's are better as in that there is way more attention to detail; and face it, way more love for than most large games that are pushed out to earn some money.
Go and build a lvl, try to parcour, it is great fun.
And I cannot really see where there are so many more details than average games..
I mean, it is a fighting game, so of course there is lots of detail in that regard.
But other things, like real water for e.g. which is common in most such games which you can swim through won't be present at all. Having each and every feature explained in every detail weekly Is obviously gonna make a different impression than just releasing a game.
@crazyjak56 Then I wouldn't have preordered it about half a year ago.
I think the fighting mechanics are very intriguing too.
I just don't like it when people endlessly exaggerate every little bit of it to death, and then there's that "this is 10 times better than [pro 60$ game]" shit
i would imagine it's to do with reducing GPU and CPU usage. they probably could make the graphics a lot better but it would end up taking a supercomputer to run.
Yeah, plus bethesda has that Valve thing going on where they want everyone to be able to run the game regardless of the platform.
That's what pisses me off about PC fanboys blaming consoles for games with graphics that are "okay". Not everyone's rig has a fucking SLI GTX 580 in it. Not everyone has a fucking watercooled octocore CPU. Not everyone has 32 gigs of ram. PCs vary, and that's a big problem for devs.
yeah. But that's the thing, The more power the game needs, the more effort needs to be put in those lower quality assets in order for them to be practical.
@xalener oh im sorry they get billions for games i feel so sorry for them ... look at shity cod they dont bother change shit but lock everything for PC and yet its full price game ... It was not a problem in past, now it is ?
@xalener the only "Problem" for devs is money, making the game ugly enough to run on consoles. Graphic settings can be tweaked to lower on computers so you don't seem to know what you are talking about. Also, graphics are not the only things PC funboys complain about; take skyrim for an example. UI is shit and clearly designed for console use. Which could be ok if it was ok for computer too, or they made tweaks to it to better fit the PC. But they dont. Great game anyways.
@etusax While Skyrim's UI might've been designed for consoles, its typeface selection clearly wasn't. Futura Condensed on a 35" TV makes baby Jesus cry.
@GHhog No, we buy Skyrim for PC to enjoy the fruits of the robust modding community. We don't buy Skyrim on PC to enjoy a PC-unfriendly interface combined with a console-unfriendly typeface.
@MagFlare I don't get it. Just because it's easy to use doesn't make it "console". It just makes it good. I guess you want the screen completely covered in words and numbers to feel like a pc gamer.
@doltBmB Untrue. I want the console version's UI optimized for controller input and a TV screen and the PC version's UI optimized for keyboard-and-mouse input and a monitor. These aren't irrational things to want, and the compromised hybrid UI they ultimately settled on isn't good for either PC gamers OR console gamers.
@MagFlare The mouse support is a little dodgy, true. But if that bug was fixed it would be an excellent UI in any case. Maybe it could scale better to an SD display too. But this has been an issue with games since the HD consoles first arrived.
@MagFlare "Robust modding community"? Listening I'm not trying to start some stupid argument, but last I checked the Elder Scrolls games(all of them) are the reason those Nexus sites exist. Again, I'm not trying to cause an argument but just look at half the things those guys make. Some are good but those are outnumbered by some truly messed up things.
@frostek Maybe, but bloody unstable. Doesnt matter how good your computer is, if there is something odd, opengl will lag hell and crash. Maybe it depends on the game, HL1 lagged on my old comp, while Quake 3 worked flawless.
