There's no medical evidence to support her claim of epilepsy and the arrest was lawful (she got convicted of damaging one of the cars outside the club) so I think I have been convinced that it was reasonable force and that the officer shouldn't be facing any charges!

Incidentally, if you were to look at the Home Office techniques for Police training you'd see distraction strikes described as performed by PC MULHALL. For blunt techniques, such as baton strikes, punches, kicks, knee strikes etc the degree of force is of VERY little relevance, legally. If you can justify striking someone several times it matters not if it is at 100% or 50% of your strength.

Punching aside, why was it necessary to have so many police there, including a police dog, to make an arrest for disorder?
