FUCKIN SHIT, im getting the same surgery tomorrow D: I asked my mom if they'll put me to sleep while taking it out she said no, only thing im scared of tell me if it hurts at all before tomorrow
contact MMI, INc. in Memphis, Tenn and ask them for a local doc that uses the Smart Toe to treat HammerToe. NO PINS!!!!! Just surgery, thats it. Check it out!
Aesome! I just just had my 4th digit done for the second time on my right foot! Why did the Doc remove the K-wire out so soon?! I also had my left 4th digit done before! I'm gld some posted it! It doesn't normaly hurt after 4 weeks!
from the album switched on bach from the early 1970s, got played to death by my dad when the moog synth was state of the art........great post by the way, makes a change to see a pro performing a procedure on a youtube video
wow i have hammertoe in the same exact toe as you its not too bad but i dont want it getting worse. i need to find a good surgeon for im terrified after watching these videos...but having a straight toe would be absolute heaven! those pins look painful
I just had this surgery done on both feet. Came through it amazingly well. Could walk on my heals and will have the pins removed in 2 weeks. My podiatrist is awesome!! Off of pain meds in 2 days! Just keep your feet elevated most of the day until cleared!!!
This is Two Part Invention No.14 by J.S. Bach, the famous baroque period composer. The performance is by Walter Carlos, on his album, "Switched on Bach", circa 1968. This was the first big recording of "classical" music using a Moog Synthesizer. I have the vinyl record.
I had two toes on both feet done at the some time, and it was tough for the first week but i was fine after that. didn't want to take another 6wks off from work. the wires come out on wednesday!!
decayed (dead) blood and skin after i was runoverd by a car i had a fractured wrist wen they pulled out my pins i asked them what it was and thats what they told me
omg!! lol i had a pin put into mine!! and its still in there!! i am so glad i didnt have to have that done, i fainted when they took the stitches out!! lol!! and i have to have the other one done next year!! :(
I can't believe you were able to hold the camera still while he was doing that. I wouldn't have been able to watch, let alone keep my hands steady. Ouch!
o.m.goodness. i have to go have this done nxt yr and im crappin it..lol. now ive watche dthis im more afraid of havin it taken out than anything else..lol. looks gross xxx
@SweetAshou123 it didn't cost anything as i have Canadian health insurance ,my foot is so much better now and shoes feet really well in case you are planning on having the same surgery ,
@babywu48 I had hammer toe on the three middel toes of my left foot. When I had my pins taken up the Dr just yanked then stright out. It did not hurt but at the same time it did not feel good. Just as well they came staight out.
An incision is made on the top of the toe being corrected, and the pin (which is not curved at the tip initially) is inserted into the bone and out the tip of the toe. Then the pin is bent and covered with the yellow piece.
The pin is made of surgical steel now doubt. It was there to make sure the bones healed in line. Yes, the pin goes straight into his bone. Look at the X-Ray.
I don't exactly know how the surgeon (Dr. Larsen) put the pin into the toe. If you look closely and pause the video on the x-ray you can see how far the pin goes in. I assume he used some kind of drill to bore the hole for the pin. Maybe there is a video elsewhere on YouTube that actually shows the procedure.
i had to get 2 in my arm and the doctor said he just gentely hammered it in with a hammer.and yes it goes into your bone to help stabelized and keep the bone in place
could u walk on your feet did it hurt alot all of my toes are hammer but the big ones i'm in college the only break i get is summer was it really expensive
Sorry, I just hit the wrong button and accidentally deleted the last post in which the person pretty accurately described the surgery as removing a little piece of bone in toe so the other bones could be straightened out. That is how I understand it is done.
It was a few days before I could really walk. I convinced the doctor to remove the pin about two to three weeks before he usually would (that is why it was so tight and difficult to pull out). I walked into the office the day I shot this video wearing flip flops with the pin still in my toe. I promised him I would wear the post-op shoe if he would pull the pin early. I brought the post-op shoe with me to further convince him to remove the pin that day.
I believe the doctor just bent up the end of the straight pin at the end of the toe so it wouldn't stick out too far. Also the bend in the wire allowed him a better purchase when he pulled it out. The yellow plastic thing on the end of the wire is just popped on there to keep the wire from getting snagged on stuff. It would pop off from time to time.
i had this done 1 week ago and it dosnt hurt you can walk on it the day of the surgery i mean later after surgery and i played paintball yesterday and had no problem
i had this dun 2day....the pins were taken from my 3 middle toes on my left foot....for me the pain was excrutiating but my doctor wasnt gentle....he yanked them out with pliers!
Had my right foot done 3 years ago.. bunion removed and hammer toe fused and externally pinned. No problem or drama!!
Left foot presently in same situation with the fixing pin coming out tomorrow after almost four weeks in situ. All in all, the quality of my life has been vastly improved having my bunions removed and toes corrected. So if you are out there and worried ... no need!!
In this case the pin was removed early at only two weeks post-op, so it would still be tight in the bones and quite painful. Usually the pin is left in for at least four weeks, and according to the Doc it practically "falls out." Any one with first hand knowledge please comment.
I've had this operation twice and due for another op just waiting on a date..the last 2 ops avent been sucessful so im either getting 8 pins or 6 pins n 2 amputations this time..and they r pointing my toes upwards OUCH lol deffo not looking 4ward to it
