  • To answer those who ask "why don't the arrows have fins? It makes it inaccurate." it's because Sun Tsu designed it for killing multiple enemies, it was meant to be used close range.

  • not an arrow slit thing its actually called a bolt rack

  • pretty good tough it doesnt have enough strenght and takes off some visibility. its a pretty good archetipe. keep making them you are good at this

  • Neet vid, cheers.

  • best crossbow ever. As soon as i saw your video i stared to make it.

  • It has a 2 1/2 lb pull. It's cool, but can't kill anything with it.

  • 2000 years old history in the making!!

    well done guy

  • NICE~~

  • This is really cool. I might use some of your design for a crossbow of my own. Thanks a whole bunch.

  • i have a tip because your bolts will not shoot straight because they do not have fletchings on them so put the fletchings on them make ur mag wider and cut a spot in it where the fletchings will be able to fall in the clip and your bolts will fly way straighter

  • so cool!!

  • Holy shit...you're genius!

  • i use moter and biggger maggerzine so i dont tier out my arm lol

  • What are you using for the bolts?

  • I wish you hadn't omitted the exciting conclusion when the bolts damage the finish on the neighbor's ugly brown car!

  • i really love this crossbow , i have some probelms with the trigger mechanism .

  • You have about four bolts?

  • is there any way to aim with this ?

  • that is the coolest ive ever seen and will it work with normal paracord for the bow string?

  • @TheMethodman301 from what i know as long as the bow part is springy enough to bend back it should work with paracord

  • You should definitely pre-drill 2 small holes into the front and the bow and mag so you and put 2 removable bolts there so that the bow is more durable. You should also take thought to some of these other comments.Go ahead and change the string to steel wire and widen the mag for fletchings. You will get a significant boost in durability, power and accuracy.

  • I need measurements for the clip and the arrows PLEASE respond soon!!!

  • you are better of using a bow string instead of a bungee cord because As you pull the bungee cord back, it stores energy. when you release it, it transfers that energy into the arrow that you're firing, making it go forward. the same is true of the prod. as it bends backwards, it stores the energy that you expended bending it. as it straightens out again, it transfers that energy to the arrow.

  • NOW....

If you have an inelastic string attached to the prod, the string cannot store any energy, being inelastic. so when you release the energy stored in a bent prod, all that energy is transferred straight to the bolt. however if you are using an elastic (meaning it can stretch and contract, store and release energy) bungee cord, the bungee will actually steal a bunch of that energy as it is released from the prod.

  • That's the coolest medieval crossbow i have seen.

  • dude thats frikin awesome. ur a legend

  • I had double bow with rifled tube, no magazine.

  • Wow, that was quite impressive. Good job on that one. :)

  • I'm going to make one now. This is amazing

  • WTF YOUR USING A BUGEE CORD

    YOUR GONNA KILL SOMETHING

    lol epic win

  • wow

  • That is frikin awwwwssssooommme

  • chinese Crossbow

  • that looks like a plane

  • dude that thing is sick

  • stick holder thing umm WHAT

  • airplane =)

  • airplane =?

  • its still a crossbow... you used a 'springy' bow so its a crosbow, if it was a plain piece of wood it would be a slingshot =P

  • how wide is the bowstring??

  • impressing

    what is it's range

  • nice design

  • LOL its not a square its a rectangle by the way is there a cow giving birth in the backround?

  • @stuckurface a rectangle can be a square, but a square cannot be a rectangle.

  • @dean120028 accually, a square is always a rectangle but a rectangle is not always a square.

  • @stuckurface thats a rally car or somthing .. hahaha but i like your idea of a cow giving birth way better!!!!

  • @kingbrian1000 Thanks :D

  • the front of the bow is NOT the STOCK where u rest ur sholder is the stock unless it is pistol grip when it is then reffered to as the BUTT of the gun,u should be calling it the body of fusilarge, other than good vid

  • Could you give the dimensions in the commentary to all parts of the crossbow?

  • I was thinking, instead of twine to hold the magazine on why not use tool box latches. You know the ones that lift and then have the hook or loop that grabs the ledge. I think it would be a great substitute and would last alot longer. Is it possible to put an actual bowstring on this?

  • Good God sir, you are a professional!

you may have a future in this!

I am also partially afraid of coming to your house now...

  • i think if you werre to try to use this accutartly it would be hard since it is so bulky

  • aint it bolts instead of arrows ?

  • The whole concept of your cross bow is perfect but can you make it so you don't have to fire with the crank. I would take out the bolt, drill a hole completely through and have a trigger at the bottom that pushes up the bolt try it and tell me how it works.

  • @snottyshots sounds good except for one small problem... how would you get the bowstring back into position to fire another bolt without a crank?

  • it would be alot better if it was strong

  • Hey that's really cool... I would be glad if you could mail me the plans. zubinadvani@gmail.com

    Thanks ;)

  • nice cho-ko-nu. And thanks or uploading. I think i'll make one this weekend.

  • Son. I am proud! You are no ronger a shame to the famiry.

  • you are einstein nummber 2!!!!!!!!!you are a genious

  • how long are the big bolts??

  • that must be heavy

  • im proud of you! aka (im chinese)

  • Damn man u are a freakin' genious!!

  • "HomeBrewed42!!!!! WHAT IS YOU PROFESSION?"

  • If you coated the crossbow with fire retardant you could set the bolts on fire and have flaming bolts. Anyway, I definately know what I'm doing for shop class this year! :)

  • Great video man! That is awesome

  • Very cool, looks to be a fun toy :)

  • these are cool but they have almost no power, when they were actually used they had to get really close and use poison tips.

  • where do u get ur bolts?

  • I LIKE HOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO RELOAD IT EVERYTIME

  • OMG YOU HAVE TO SAY THIS GUY LOOKS LIKE THE GUY FROM HOTROD!!!!!!!!!

  • arrow...slit...thing

  • lol just the shape of the frame (not including buttstock and bow) would make a wicked club just add a handle

  • freaking sweet nice stuff can u see if u can make it more powerful

  • haha u only have 4 bolts? well i have about 20 bolts and my magazine can hold 15 =]

  • i love this can u tell me how to make the ammo holder thigy ppllllllllzzzzzzzzz

oh and this is the most awsomist crossbow ive ever seen

  • this has deadliest warrior writin all over it,

nahh i'm kidding very good though

  • really not that bad, but you lose alot of energy from friction by letting the string lay down on the wood, if you were to use a slicker material for it (ie polished/stained wood, or even plexi-glass) it would make it shoot way further.

  • it is a good crossbow that was used by chinese soldiers chu ko nu, but it was not powerfull enough to cut through steel. thats my opinion. I am making a crossbow myself and will add a response video when I will finish it.

  • omg that is realy good nice god bro

  • oh wow thts crazy nice job man

  • but will it be enough when the zombies come?

  • Thanks, but can you please explain to me how to build the magazine?

  • or Home Depot.... hahahahaha

  • Great vid

I'm gunna make one of these

    Sent from my

    Iphone

  • This is a great example of the Chinese repeating crossbow. While the originals would have had a bit more power, they were used for inside-the-walls fighting. Kind of the glock of the day. Well done.

  • if anyone's wondering about bolts, just use small straight wooden shafts. every Home Depot sells some perfectly rounded shafts you can use, or find some sticks, then sharpen the tips and harden them over a fire.

  • Curses! I had everthing but the flat head screwdriver. Oh well I guess I have to go to Walmart and buy a rifle.

  • No aim, no reach, no strong. Nice recoil device by the way, but it totally ruins any chance to aim.

  • @lightenlynx Congratulations, you just made fun of a weapon that was made 2500 years ago. I think everyone here understands that we have evolved sense then. Some people just want to have fun with it.

  • @thythythy3 congratulations, for having nothing to the imagination...

  • @thythythy3 I'll bet they left this design 2500 years ago because they realized its weaknesses. No point making something useless IMO. I didn't made fun of it, but the people back in that time probably did. Maybe that's why chinese discovered gunpowder.

  • @lightenlynx the chinese repeating crossbow isnt weak u dumbass... lets just see how u will feel after u get shot by it.. they also have like 100,000 of these crossbow mens fireing hundreds of thousands of poisoned tipped arrows which is very useful.

  • @lifes40123 I would be greatly amused being shot by this piece of shit while using just a leather armor and a shield. This crossbow is nothing but a crap, it lacks strength AND aim. You can shot hundreds of bolts like a mad dog and I must shot you only once with aim.

Go make a paper-mache vulcan you fool.

  • @lightenlynx uh huh.. keep talkin

  • Nice design. Did you come up with the system yourself or was it a plan you found? Either way it's awesome.

  • @Korban3 Its an Ancient Chinese weapon. I saw a show that said as early as 500 BC.

  • @thythythy3 it was actually around the 1300AD and the ming soldiers used it

  • you rock

  • thanks 4 the help im building 1 now

  • Nice tutorial. Very well done.

  • what did you use for the bolts? o.O

  • how far do the bolts shoot

  • awesome!!

  • SEMI AUTO BOLT ACTION FTW! lol I finally got to say those two words together in a sentence... :)

  • soo thats how karil's crossbow works.... cool vid i might make 1

  • no because it had little power and accuracy the Chinese posined the tips

  • Das ist genial 0.0

  • I'll stick with my single shot crossbow rifle thanks! Good luck aiming down the sight with that lol Nice work though

  • HOLY SHIZ

  • how you bought that wood?

  • id recomend using a bevel for the gutter=]

  • Fins...lol it's called fletching. Flukes.

  • you no darts you shoot you can make them smaller then you can then have

    fings

  • impressive =D

  • incredible :D i'm gonna make one in the weekend

  • It doesn't have fins? lol

  • @senorturtleface doesn't matter if the front of the arrow wieghts more than the back it wiil pretty much do the same without fins

  • @senorturtleface doesn't matter, if the front of the arrow wieghts more than the back, it wiil pretty much do the same without fins

  • @senorturtleface

the bolts go straight cuz they'll have grooves cut in the back, if they have fins they won't really be able to fit inside the magazine and go down properly and it might jam.

  • @senorturtleface You could have four firm fins on the arrows, you would just have to make the loading mechanism wider so that they fit

  • is that a nitro vehicle in the back ground

  • Heheh, you even copied the design of the authentic chinese repeater crossbow, nice

  • nice it looks awesome

  • Nice job. Very detailed instruction.

  • Nice job.

Btw the ''arrow'' for a crossbow are called bolt not arrow.

  • awesome video. keep up the good work

  • dude thats so cool i add a device that makes the thing go faster for reloading

  • 5/5

    Not your first dance obviously.

Thank you for sharing the details of how to build one.

    Great work.

take care and have a nice day

    silk

  • Wats the name of the bowstring?

    (yeah I'm not American/English)

  • Bungee cord.

Its like an elastic band but really thick.

Its just a really stretchy piece of string

  • i made a really good crossbow once but then my friend trod on it and it snapped

  • thats a lie! they did have home depot! :P

  • awesome crossbow, keep it up

  • wow

  • Cool

  • just glue a feather on the back of the bolt and it will fly very straight

  • epic dude absolutely epic :[)

  • Good video job. Damn, I wish I had the drawings of every piece :(

  • good jood !! the Chinese are pround of u

  • @hiendoanrox chien chong wraiya! get bakk to wokk!

  • i wish i had a workshop im inspired

  • that's not a fact, jackass. a repeating crossbow is a crossbow without a trigger that can fire more than one round at a time. with a larger cartridge you could fire continuously for quite some time. and it would be better than a longbow, because you have more speed and less strain on your muscles.

  • @totalmedievalist

I think that "rounds" only applies to gunpowder firearms. The word you were looking for is probably "bolt". Also a "cartridge" is what most people considered to be the "bullet". A cartridge includes the primer, powder, and the bullet inside a brass case. I believe you are referring to the magazine.

  • try folding fins. get plastic fins, fold them about five times, and flatten them. they should open out when they're flying.

  • hey tanx followed ur tutorial, made some small changes but tanx. very detailed.. mines is stronger though.. kudos

  • your a genius. i still dont know exactly how it works and i watched it twice. good job man

  • thats awsome

  • THANK YOU GOD!!!!!!! 5/5!! I'm going to make this crossbow out of tetrix and legos for US First Tech Challenge for robotics! This will shoot rapid balls out and get us to nationals!!!!!

  • Awesome! I've already made a crossbow, but I had no idea it'd be that easy (or at least, not hard) to make a repeating one!

5 Stars and a Fave, my friend- Thank you so much!! :)

  • repeating cross bows are pretty unpractical, 1. not much draw force, 2. any cross bow repeats if you pull it back....

  • Its a faster pullback than a regular crossbow. It had just as much pullback force but because of the lever design the pressure was distributed so that it didn't require a crank to have the same effects as a regular crossbow. The only difference is accuracy, but in a large group someone was bound to hit the target anyway. It was VERY practical. So much so that the Greeks themselves created a repeating ballista. Don't make statements that have no facts to back them up, you look like a jackass.

  • heres a fact, its a normal cross bow but with a "cartridge" ther for calling it repeating does not work, like i said any cross bow repeats if you pull it back again just like this one thers a fact you can deny. if it was practical why would a kid be makeing it in his dads garage? instead of being built with state of the art programs? and i dont know about you but practicality works all the time not just when thers thousands of people in a crowd. i would rather have a long bow than a crossbow.

  • In a crowd its much fast because of the two way movement. Were as even a most advanced crossbow still requires three. Repeating comes from translating the original name to English. And I can make a longbow in my garage. Anyone can make a bow. If you want to talk state of the art just get a gun. We're not talking practical now, we're talking practical THEN. This weapons was used ON the battlefield. That's proof enough of its effectiveness. If it didn't work they wouldn't have used it.

  • And its not a normal crossbow with a cartridge. It completely lacks a trigger altogether.

  • You fail to understand large scale war. It was highly practical and was in use for a thousand years before white people even bothered to use simple crossbows.

  • @darkeyce02

Crossbows were designed to have a large drawforce by their designs alone. European crossbows had the fire rate of around 3-4 bolts a minute. Not to mention that it is much more tiring and cumbersome to use either pure muscle or even a simple machine like a wrench to pull back the string.

  • nice man 5 stars

  • I've done something similar to this in science class, some genius got a drop-feeder installed so we could fire as fast as possible

  • if you changed the shape of the magizene you could get arows with feathers in there

  • i mod im going to try is mount the magazine at a 45 degree angle so you can see where you are firing with an unrestricted line of sight. im also assuming you could gear the crank mechanism so that you dont need to use as much effort.

  • You're a GENIUS, sooo cool :D You got skillz

  • Would there be a way to perhaps fatten the magazine and permit the chu ko nu to fire fatter headed arrows?

  • What size are the bolts and what are the white bands on the cross peice?

  • Bro that us so sick! I am going to make it tomorrow but it looks sooo complicated and so persise, but i'll try. Thanks for the idea and if you can tell me, what were the size of the bolts and the size of the screws???

  • This is really cool, but I would like to see a trigger that pushes the pin up rather then reloading and fireing at the same time. It would be nice to reload, aim, then release the bolt but still I like this tut thanks

  • thats pretty crazy. how fast do the arrows go? and do they go straight?

  • i believe it is called a cho ko nue i dont know how it is spelled thow

  • chu ko nu they where the guys using them i think theyre also in aoe2 :P

  • i used a jigsaw puzzle lol

  • oh damn nice :D
