  • American military checking in. Thumbs up to this, we do have a habit of taking ourselves too seriously, and that's the truth.

  • Could everybody just please drop the " Swedish nazis" and "Stupid American" arguments? WW2 was 70 years ago. I dont belive that any person in any of the political parties here in sweden was in them during 1940 and Americans are not dumb. We are supposed to be on the same team....

  • @STUNTS1516 Well he is right because the Vietnam wars started back in the 1800-hundreds when it was a French colony. USA joined later on. :)

  • American checking in.

This is a funny commercial. I like it. It's good.

(the most important thing anyone can do: learn to laugh at yourself)

  • "Only in America" - I find it hilarious that so many americans being upset over this commercial. And yes, we understand the first 38 seconds of this commercial because we have something called education.

  • brb applying for swedish citizenship

  • Guys, it's just a clever, funny commercial. No need to play the nazi tolerance card, or the bash America card. It's a funny commercial, and I wouldn't mind seeing a version of it sell the US Army.

  • Question: do enough Swedish really speak English to understand the first 38 seconds of this commercial to make it (this commercial) really that viable?

If so, I have to say that I want your education system.

  • @ObssesedNuker Yupp, most swedes speak about 2-4 languages.

  • @ObssesedNuker haha yes, i think everybody at the age of 15+ can understand this quite good

  • @ObssesedNuker Almost everyone under the age of 60 understands English fairly well

  • @ObssesedNuker Most Swedish commercials are in English. :)

  • See at the end how they helped that guy finish the course? Like this FOR WINGMAN CONCEPT HUA!!!

  • LOL, brilliant.

  • Cool, funny, and very well done.

  • You guys are taking this way too seriously...I mean yeah, we Americans like looking cool (like a boss) but I thought it was a funny, but true commercial. Being realistic is important.

    (Cool American voice ftw)

  • Great advertising job, original and creative

  • awsome.... great job sweden

    screw america woo hoooo

  • YEAH LETS BE THE FOOT SOLDERS OF EVIL PEOPLE AND KILL OTHERS WHILE CARRYING OUT THEIR AGENDA.

if you don't support your troops you're unpatriotic.

  • @NIMHFS

Who cares if you are "patriotic" or not? If being patriotic means supporting retarded political policies, then FUCK patriotism, and nationalism in general.

  • It is about KILLING people. Good or bad, but killing. Someone must do it i know and have some respect, but that's not any kind of good adventure. The final goal is to spread the death.

  • @justanotherfreak2008 The US army maybe. The Swedish army is more defensive. It's not an invasion force.

You're line of thinking only leads to war. There's reasons you're not in charge anywhere that matters.

  • @SnoweyMan111 How do you know what i do and what really matters? Don't write a nonsense.

  • @justanotherfreak2008 Really can't make out what you're saying in the second sentence.

  • I really think its more of a tribute. Because this commercial said only the US military can do this, while Swedish military can't. :D

  • @xIegionx It was very clearly tongue-in-cheek.

  • @Lesolin yeah a very clear tribute

  • i want to join. where do i sign up. oh btw im American is that going to be okay?

  • It is like they are advertising for video game. By the way Swedes, they want to defend themselves against whom danes or norman.

  • Excellent advert.

  • the us may be the laughing stock but it still teabags everyone else's military.

  • @limegreenkiwi90 while completely disregarding education, medicine and social coverage. Yeah man, great country you live in. Canadian medicine says Hi.

  • @LesPhoques1 i am canadian... factually though the us will take over our country when rare resources get low... so prepare to become american bc it is coming.

  • @limegreenkiwi90

You realise America has won only one war right? and that was the original war of independance...

The only two wars you ever really involved in would be vietnam, which you lost.

And whats happening now in the middle east, which has now crippled your country and 10 years later you still haven't managed to find the character your goverment invented to cover up their lies.

  • @STUNTS1516 k i think you may have downs... are you going to say the US did not play a major factor in winning WWII? if not, i would love to hear why... we pretty much single-handedly took down japan... let's see war of 1812 who won... o yes, that is right the US... o spanish american war the US... World War I who won o the allies.. and WWII already stated... i am sorry to tell you but the US militarily has been very successful... hold on i will continue to explain why the US is not succeeding.

  • @STUNTS1516 k continuing on, the reason why the US (which is hard to even call the US's presence in the middle east sole... since canadians, british, and many other coalition forces are there... so to say the US are the lone wolf there is uneducated but eyeing the little history you do know of the US (militarily) i am not surprised.

  • @STUNTS1516 but to finish the US/coalition is not trained to be an occupational force... they are trained to eliminate threats.. that means you essentially have to train every soldier how to be a police officer in a foreign country where vast majority of your soldiers do not speak arabic... well i wish you good luck.

  • @limegreenkiwi90 You honestly have no idea what you are talking about. The USA decided to send troops after 9/11 and demanded help from the EU. Basically you dragged everyone else with you so it wouldn't seem like you are butthurt. You blew things out of proportion, wasting billions on war. You deserve your recession and you all deserve to be unemployed. Just don't drag down the rest of the world with you.

The USA has NEVER won a war and probably never will.

  • @vdininski jealousy is a stinky cologne

  • @vdininski Forgetting that the allies won WW2 are we?

  • @marshmellowmanable well then I hope you count the russians too?

  • @vdininski

we won the war for our independence, so..that's one. we didn't demand anything, they volunteered; but for argument's sake, let's say america did demand them to join, europe still listened like the good little bitches they are, didn't they? we deserve our recession and every american deserves to be unemployed, huh? why? so we can be like your shit country, bulgaria?

we might "never win a war", but we can nuke your shit country back to the stone age...oh right, it's bulgaria.

  • @MrLAWLsuit The war for your independce...we have won three of those. You are a bunch of trigger happy hillbilly bullies that do not think of the consequences of their actions. Your 3 century old nation's history is full of your military failures. Don't get me started on Bulgaria...getting repeatedly screwed by the bigger nations throught our history - after winning our independence for the third time we are given back only a third of what is supposed to be ours...

  • @vdininski If anyone is being critical of your patriotism I wouldn't even bother getting offender because the same love you have for your nation we American's will surely feel the same for ours. And you have every right to be critical of my countries military endeavors, however, when all the smaller nations-such as yours- get into trouble you will all come running to the United States. "We are the watchmen on the walls of freedom." -JFK

  • @Mahhhty1 I do not agree with you that we will come running to the US for help. We will always turn to the EU first if we cannot handle ourselves. The times of the JFK administration and views are long gone.

BTW yours is probably one of the most mature comments I have seen here and I completely agree on the patriotism part.

  • @MrLAWLsuit 7 years lated we WON ourselves another 1/3 of our previous territories. During WW2 we tried to stay impartial, but given the choice to be annihialted by Hitler's forces, knocking on our door steps or being bombed by the alliance we had to join the germans. However we have not deported a single jew from our territories. The rest of the Balkans have always been against us as a once great empire. We have fought time after time to defend what is ours and we have earned it.

  • @MrLAWLsuit We have defied the odds time and time again in our 14 centuries of existence. Your military history is ridden with opportunism. Contrary to what you believe you did not singlehandedly win WW1 or WW2.

BTW congrats on killing >200k civilians with the A-bomb.

  • @vdininski

    1. nobody gives a shit about bulgaria. 14 centuries of "defying the odds" wooo, in a little over 200 years, we accomplished more and are much better off.

    2. i never brought up either ww I or ww II so why are you telling me this? did i ever say we single-handedly won both wars? right, so keep your sheep-fucking mouth shut. and keep trying to down-play our importance in both wars, it's cute.

    3. thanks, it should have been your shit country.

  • @vdininski America won the revolutionary war, war of 1812, korean war, ww1, and ww2.

  • @LiLax38 Ummm sorry to say this but Canada or at the the time the british empire won the war of 1812. If you look at objectives the British managed to complete theirs (that being defending canada from invading americans and managed to kill around 11,000 americans while suffering around 8,000 losses themselves) while the americans did not complete thier objective of taking upper canada. This was also the time when the british empire was engaged in the napoleonic war at the same time.

  • @LiLax38 uhh yeah, FYI the korean war was never won ( thats why there are 2 koreas ) and you dont win wars your generals just dont get as many soldiers killed as the other sides general.

  • Comment removed

  • @mortender your right the korean war was more of a joint-operation to defend south korea against north and the closest reality to winning a war is achieveing as many of your demands as possible

  • @limegreenkiwi90 We teabag everyone else's military yet it takes us so long to deal with a handful of insurgents.

  • The difference between a country that can hold is own, and a country who relies on foreign power to withstand their ground. Sweden = weak.

  • @shattori1 Withstand their ground against who? Eskimos?

  • @BaileysBeads The Russians would be the most realistic threat.

  • @tetherson The Russians wouldn't ever get past the Fins, those guys are maniacs.

  • hahaha, good job Sweden, this is just briliant. Is time for the european armies to show their men of honor against the "americanization" of our societies.

  • @flynn726 How much longer are we going to play the WW2 card. Our fat lazy society is so far removed from that generation its apples and oranges. Not to take away from the US contribution but Russia did most of the heavy lifting in Europe.

  • @Bogart1980 hahaha so one of the biggest war in the history of mankind if not thee biggest is irrelevant 66 years after it happened? that generation may be dying off now, but we still are protecting freedoms. i know russia was attacked first but you think stalin cared that jews were being killed or that france was invaded? the US didnt get much out of it and didnt necessarily need to intervene because we had an ocean as a barrier yet half a million of its people died for other countries freedom

  • @flynn726 You do realize that we only joined after Pearl Harbor? Do you know your history?

  • @snazzydrew you do realize that was japan who attacked the us in pearl harbor? Do you know your history? December 7, 1941 pearl harbor. june 6, 1944 D-day.

  • @flynn726 its nice to see that you can use Wikipedia like champ

  • @mortender i've known those dates since i was like 8 years old, both my grandfathers fought in world war 2. sorry for paying attention to my elders cuz i thought they must have seen some pretty cool shit

  • @flynn726 Well... did they?

  • Brilliant :) .

  • you guys cute, try playing with the big boys before you go running your mouth. you guys really held your own in ww2

  • @flynn726 Yes. And for that reason alone, nobody can laugh at the US, EVER!

  • @jonwu yup, cuz we're the best, winners dont laugh at them selves (im joking so dont get all riled up)

  • @flynn726 WHAT!? Getting riled up is what we Amuricans do best!

  • @flynn726 Sweden held up pretty well in ww2, yes. We're a small country that managed to avoid getting invaded while we also were instrumental in helping Finland fight of the Soviet Union. That's pretty amazingly successful when you consider our place in the world.

  • @Dussei yeah you guys did great staying neutral. it would be like if you neighbors house caught on fire and all you had to do was throw a rock threw the window to help them get out, and you just sat and watched from a your house because it was juussst far enough away that it wouldn't catch on fire. Sweden hasn't been involved in a war in over 2 fucking centuries.

  • @Dussei Sweden avoided getting invaded in WWII by supplying coal to the Nazi war machine and its crematoriums. So don't be so smug.

  • @Dussei Yeah, by helping to resupply the Nazi war machine....

  • I love this video, it's about time someone took the American military to task for treating war like a goddamn movie.

  • LMFAO

    <3

  • This reminds me of that recruiting ad that was shown in Fahrenheit 9/11. "You can!"

  • why do americans have to go nuts when someone makes a friendly joke about them? was this really that offensive?

  • @stevij6969 No. It's funny and true. The commercials for the army in the USA look a lot like the way it's portrayed here. The only thing I find annoying is when people say something like "americans are so dumb". Seems like every country watches everything we do. Yes we have a fucked up country, but I'm pretty sure everyone else does too.

  • Whomever does the American military ads learned all their tricks from Halo and Splinter Cell.

  • Haters

    Gonna

    Hate

  • Owned

  • heja sverige!

  • okay okay okay I know our commercials are way over the top but damn sweden what did they ever do to you? dont be such dicks about it.

  • They CAN offer you a place in an army that din't help destory the Nazis...

  • Comment removed

  • @CptQwashi Neither can you...unless you're Russian...

  • Keepin' It real!

  • It's needs some Amon Amarth and more cowbell

  • Stick to playing Metal and Rock music swedes.

  • What is this? Next you'll be telling me your first few years in the military are devoted to keeping your uniform immaculate.

  • We can't offer you anything. :P

  • Finally a quality commercial bringing reality.

If someone is insulted by this great commercial

    Google: self reflection. Or mirror.

  • My cousin joined the US Army intelligence as an interrogator because he wanted to be Mr. Badass Jack Bauer Secret Agent Man. He spent his whole career stationed in Fort Bragg, NC and then Fort Stewart, GA, and most of that time was spent fixing vehicles in the motorpool. I guess you could say he got lucky for not getting sent to a warzone, but American military recruitment ads are bullshit.

  • @rodwhite84 If you cousin got stuck fixing cars it was his fault not the army. Obviously he couldn't cut it as Army Intel. My brother joined without a clue but scored high enough on his asvab to be admitted to Army Intel. 3 years later he was loaned out to the NSA in Iraq as an analyst. I do agree that American military recruitment ads are bs, even worse is that recruiting offices tell you now that you can join as a green beret, ranger, ie with fine print: can't cut it = grunt.

  • And since you probably weren't in the military, but have UserID's with some military lingo in it, as a veteran, let me inform you that the Swedes were not running away at from an enemy at the end of the video - they were doing an obstacle course and one recruit is helped by others. You would know that if you really were in the military.

  • Our "Epic" recruiting ads in the US are bullshit and they give the impression that being in the military is just like a "game" and every new person that joins will suddenly look like the guy on a Halo poster so to you Americans bad mouthing this ad - let me inform you that there are many Americans that would prefer a commercial reflect the reality of the product we are buying....but you people who don't agree, by all means keep buying those "Head-On" products.

  • "we can't offer you the opporotunity to pop out from under the ice in a nuclear powered submarine" (that should be in there....)

  • I like how the swedes of all people are mocking the military recruitment of the US. It's meant to draw people into joining, its kind of hard to say "sign up and have a 50/50 chance of taking one to the head". It's supposed to be exciting and showcase dramatized heroism, that's what the us military is. Lame asses, when's the last time the Swedes were involved in a major confrontation. Kiss my ass, I almost take this as an insult to our troops.

  • @maroinmybones the swedes take the piss out of everything, and guess wot, they dont care wot u think :D

  • @fuzzles1337 they take the piss out of everything? and what is wot? LOL, alright alright, I just re-read my little comment and I agree it was a little "overly passionate". In all fairness I have no complaints over the Swedish people and thought at first the commercial was a little insulting. HOWEVER, I do get the point and the political poke behind it. With that being said I love our military and I have no problem with the recruitment ads even though they come off as a Bruce Willis movie.

  • @maroinmybones: "It's supposed to be exciting and showcase dramatized heroism, that's what the us military is."

Ok? Good for you if you believe that. That's however not what the Swedish military is and I'm glad they're trying to bring it back from reality and away from Hollywood. That would attract the "right" type of people to the military I'd say...

  • Comment removed

  • @mieroth You have no concept of what I was trying to say but that is ok. Keep grasping and whining about what I stated. At the end of the day our Military is the best in the world, with or without "Hollywood" recruiting. And your a dumb ass for stating the "right" type of people. 90% of our military recruits join because of patriotism or help with schooling. To say we have a "bad" type of person in the Military is a joke. Without us policing other shit countries this world would be fucked.

  • @maroinmybones: Enough with trying to turn this into a penis-measuring contest, please. There is DEFINITELY a "right" type of person for the military. You know, not people who'd gun down innocent civilians in Iraq from a helicopter thinking they're playing a video game... Considering you yourself label America the "world police" you're surely lacking in the philanthropy section of things. If your goal as the military is to help others why should that not be the motivation for people to join?

  • Comment removed

  • @maroinmybones ha

    hahaha

    hahahahah

    AHAHAHAHA

    you're hilarious

  • @maroinmybones 'Without us policing other shit countries this world would be fucked.''

Yeah you know. I highly doubt that.

  • And just to add on to what others are saying. I dont care about the commercial, I'm leaving the comments i'm leaving because all you "Swedes" think your military and citizens are better than the Americans. That's a little Nazi complex if you ask me, that's why i'm stating what i'm stating. Other than that, I actually laughed at the commercial, I felt it was really clever.

  • @maroinmybones Just to make some kind of peacfull statement you could just say that i as a Swede have never considered some people better than some other. Because no matter what people, army or country it all depends on the individuall who is the better person. :)

  • Damn, Sweden can fuck up some snow.

  • well i was hoping to see a cool video....i feel like playing call of duty

  • For those defending US and its armed forces, why don't you pay attention to the subject at hand: our recruiting commercials and their way of going about things. This is not an attack on soldiers at all and if you misconstrue it as such, you are fucking numbskulls.

  • I'm from Canada, and that was hilarious.

  • There was an American armed forces commercial like this!! It was really futuristic, so retarded. It made the military look like a game.

  • @welcomegohome "There was an American"???? Is this a joke? EVERY SINGLE American marine/air force/navy commercial these days is like this.

  • @welcomegohome As a US marine, I can tell you we do this shit all day. Err' day.

    jk.

  • @welcomegohome I think that was the point, to recruit young gamers used to playing and enjoying their video games. It was meant to make them believe war is like their futuristic games. Propaganda has evolved much from the early days of war.

  • @welcomegohome Military a game?

    Army Experience Center

  • @welcomegohome You have to appeal to the kids somehow

  • I think I am gonna go with the people who CAN offer all that stuff. I couldn't understand the others anyway... and as my "EWWWWW FOREIGNERS" policy dictates, I can not choose them.

  • so your reality is running away with no weapons?... ill stick to the US Marine corps but thanks though.

    Semper Fi

  • @Leatherneck1112 you're stupid. but it makes sense, you're american.

  • @undersquirl Dear undersquirl,

I apologize if my comment seemed as if it was attacking the Swedish armed forces. I forgot how much the Swedes do to help the world, such as humanitarian assistance in Japan or Indonesia or Haiti. The Swedes truly do lead the world when it comes to military action. Please forgive me, I'm just a stupid American when it comes to military issues. An American like MacArthur, or Eisenhower, or Patton, or Bradley, or Pershing. I guess they only saved Europe from Nazis

  • @Leatherneck1112 HAHAHAHAHA Russia had more to do with WWII being won by the Allies than the US... Lean2History bro... You guys came late to the game in both WWI and WWII

  • @skulltag you just made one of the dumbest comments I have ever possibly heard. You sir, are awarded "Official Fucktard" of the day.

  • @maroinmybones YAY!

  • @skulltag You are absolutely right, the Soviets fought with tremendous will power and man power and probably did play the biggest role in Europe. As for "coming late to the game," it wasn't our game to play. But we came anyway. I was merely stating that our "stupid american" military leaders were some of the greatest Generals in history, put Patton up against Zhukov and I would like to see who wins. Anyways the original comment was attacking the ad, not the swedish military

  • @Leatherneck1112 You know... Zhukov vs Patton would be a very interesting thing to see

  • @skulltag Agreed, two very smart military minds

  • @MostEvilPuppy your one of those tools looking for trouble

  • LOL, we offer you reality (video shows swedes beating a hasty retreat... )

  • LOL that was great . I always hated those US Navy commercials

  • Lol the beginning is so perfect for the Marines commercials I see here in America.

  • So Sweden doesn't do all that cool stuff?

    :L

  • This was inspiring and to me pokes fun at the type of soldier the US recruits to be canon fodder in our endless wars. A soldier should go into the Army with the mind set that he will do his service and come out a better man for having done so, not, "I'm gonna shoot me some Arabs." Anyone that gung-ho about joining the Army shouldn't be allowed in.

  • Comment removed

  • Why is the text also in English?

  • Sweden, FUCK YEAH! Coming again to save the mother fucking dayyeah!

  • Perfect.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • I love this.

  • This shit really is comedy, but I do have to say: shots fired. Your move, America.

  • I guess Sweden thinks its a real country now or something...I mean you still have a king, what is this the late 14th century

  • @xSandman16x Haha, So you think USA is a real country? What a joke.

  • @xSandman16x Like the USA's close ally, Britain... Monarchies are not anachronistic in the 21st century, at least not in countries with anything resembling a lengthy history.

  • @blehblehbleh86 Britain has a puppet regime, the king, or queen, has no actual power, its a symbol if anything; and I would hardly call them half of what they once were.

  • Im an american, and this is so spot on its hilarious. Respect sweden, much respect

  • Haha, love this commercial.

  • Thats cute.

  • I like it! But maybe I'm biased, because I liked "Operation Garbo", a ZeroHour Mod with the swedish army in it.

  • LOVE the part about how all people in TV advertisements are models and paid actors. It's TRUE!!!

  • So how do I sign up?

    Oh crap, I'm not Swedish

  • Sweden has a standing army?

  • @reflexing Are you being serious or do you think that's actually a clever snap at Sweden's military? If it's the second one, then wow, you're ignorant of other countries and are nationalistic. You totally burned Sweden with your ignorance.

  • It's official. The US is the laughing stock of the world.

  • @theconservativelib You just now realising that =P. I've known it since I served with NATO in the Air Force. Kinda depressing really.

  • @theconservativelib Sadly... yes, ha.

  • Can't offer a real military either though...

  • @redmend so how do you define a real military??

  • @redmend

Well they have better things to do then bomb brown people every year.

  • If this was Swedish, isn't it mandatory to join the army? >.>
