@wrh61 that surprises me? as an A & P I would have thought the only real pain would be the purchase price. I am a LAME (OZ version of your A & P) and considered buying an aircraft myself on the grounds that it would be affordable because I could fix it myself.
@unapro3 Well that is what I thought at the time. Owning anything is 'fun' (boat, plane, house , whatever); but just from an economic standpoint renting makes more sense . Parts still cost , fuel costs, and don't forget insurance, hanger fees...etc....It all depends on what you want to do , fly , or have a project to play with .
