That is termed as a "Chinese Arrow" by Signalfans, but it is the real deal. I have seen a few here in Los Angeles, but I understand they were much more common in other areas around the country and allow two different intersections to cross each other. Go figure!
Hey there and good to hear from you. It was a lot of fun building this signal. It is pretty much the same today, but note that I have added the backplate. Now, a flashing yellow beacon would be used if the signal is set to act as a CAUTION signal for auto traffic to be careful when crossing the intersection in terms of watching for opposing traffic. Sometimes signals have been set to "flash" when the signal is also no longer needed to control that intersection.
They are great. One of the gang in the Signalfan Club said that he lets his cycle while in the yard to help him relax. I tried it and it does have relaxing properties! :-)
A green left arrow and green forward arrow in the same light, now that's new to me.
