  • Awww!!! *Whistles* "Pretty Bird!" So CUTE

  • How long did it take for your cockatiel to talk, I have been talking to mine for weeks and he is showing no signs of talking

  • @debbieanne11 Some talk & some don't, Keep trying & keep it simple. "HEY!" everytime you enter his area is an easy word.

  • tweety bird!!

  • cute woo woo step up

  • how have u learn to talk ??

  • hahahaa thumbs up if this is the cutest thing you have evr seen

  • how cute !!!!!!!!

  • Mirrors are just fine for birds. He loves to see himself and very cute! :)

  • this bird taught my bird how to say pretty bird!! :D

  • nhghtnnr5yerbsbrtyuui6rymyrrnh yrgytbgvfswgr sorry my bird was on my labtop

  • My bird does the same exact thing when looking into a mirror; he clicks his moth bobs his head a little and sings and talks. He can also say pretty bird, and hi Katie lol.

  • Omg, I have a cockatiel (he doesnt like mirrors) and he can only say (so far) 'Hello' and 'Oscar'(his name). He even laughs. He nods his head and chirps/squacks like hes laughing. I wish I could get him to speak as clearly as this. This is AMAZINGLY clear. Oscar just mumbles the words D:

  • cute :) but you should really give him something to bite, his/her beak seems overgrown

  • @biba1baba2buba3 He has some kind of white "cube" thing that smells like a "S'More" that he chews on & a cuddle-bone. I hope that helps with his beak!

  • @lfarted I would go to the vet and check him up because overgrown beak can be caused by liver problems

  • @lfarted Give him lots of rough toys to chew on. The more he chews, the more his beak will get back into shape :)

  • loL!!!

  • sounds like "funny bird" and "silly bird" too.

  • Seriously people! Putting a bird in front of a mirror isn't damaging the bird! My family and I have had a cockatiel in a few years now, and he has always had a mirror, and absolutely nothing have happned to him! And btw, I don't see why birds would get brain damaged by looking in a mirror! wtf

  • thts so cool

  • lol,my sistas cockatiel was on my keaboard wisteling away, lol

  • so cute :3

  • he is such a cutie.. :3

  • Achually I have heard that cockatiels are smart enough to tell what is a mirror and what isn't

  • Why is there dislikes????!!!

  • @Santafeindian99 because they dont like mirrors

  • its it a boy or girl

  • ifarted too =3

  • cutie (: xxx i am gonna get one,is this a lutino, i am a kid and obsessed with birds, i am gonna get a pearled, bordered or lutino or albino. It is pretty! <3 What do you think is better? A love bird, tiel or budgie??

  • why r u blaming the owner? he obvs didnt know! He is a good owner, these are hard to teach to talk so stop complaining!

  • @Romikhan Letting a cockatiel be in front of a mirror does not do any damage to a cocaktiel's brain. What it DOES do however, is it sometimes makes them possessive. So therefore they think the reflection is a real mate and it could lead to aggression in males and egg laying in females!

  • My cockatiel combs his crown in his mirror! lol He has two to keep him from feeling lonely along with his own TV which he loves and he sings along while I play guitar as his favorite station is CMT , he's a country cockatiel.lol He also loves wildlife films.

  • What a cutie!

  • nice! good start! check out my somewhat talented babies!

  • how do you teach your bird to talk? i have a male cockatiel and he screams! how in the world do you teach him to talk and sing??

  • @FutureBelle you should repeat what you want him to say over and over again. they get it eventually. start with something easy like "pretty bird". sometimes they pick up sounds like my old cockatiel used to imitate the phone and now my budgie barks =o

  • @FutureBelle just whislte to them alot

  • sounds like an old printer :P

  • wisel wisel hi dood XD

  • i did have about four or five but three passed away

  • I've 2 cockatiels and they walk around the house at least 2 hrs a day. I've tons of mirrors in my house but my birds still loves me. They are extremely tame and I think they think I'm their mommy :-)

  • good

  • >>>>>>>>>>>THE MIRROR DOSENT DAMAGE YOUR BIRD THIERE IS TOYS THAT HAVE MIRRORS COME ON PEOPLE THEY WOULDNT MAKE TOYS THAT ARE DANGOURES TO BIRDS

  • My little Tino used to day, "peekaboo" and "birdie", and did the wolf whistle. Man, do I miss him. He's in heaven now. He went home 12/21/2009. I miss him SO much. You have very precious baby. Thank you for sharing!!!

  • hey .. i bought two pair of cockatiels.. the problem i am facing is , these dont eat anything other than some seeds which those pet shop guys gave me.. can you suggest some ideas to make them feed on some healthy fruits and also some food good for them

  • Cockatiel loves to spam!

  • @RomiKhan

can you tell me a little more i just got this "terrible" mirror tell me if it's harmful for bird <:| :O

  • I think it's broken :(

  • :))

  • The thing about mirrors is that they basically fall in love with themselves and they think its another bird and want to protect it.

  • I have nine cockatiels and have mirrors in my cages and none of my birds have tried to attack me. What brain damage? What a bunch of hogwash!

  • ours used to be able to say in a little bit of gibberish but u could still understand it. 'Where did Dylan went?" over and over until he decided that no one was going to answer him.

  • My bird does the same thing! haha they r so cute(:

  • Mirrors are good if you have 1 bird because it stops them from being lonely unless they figure out it isn't another bird but their own reflection but still xD

  • "Avoid putting mirrors in your pet cockatiel's cage. Mirrors can confuse pet cockatiels and make them think that more than one bird is in the cage." HOWEVER, outside of the cage letting your cockatiel look at a mirror for a little while if he is interested and happy doing so, will not damage his brain. This bird seems to be having fun, if he wasn't he would be attacking the mirror or trying to get away.

  • 20peoples birds cant talk

  • well, this bird seems very happy; I see no reason why a mirror is a threat unless the bird actually starts reacting badly, such as.. flying into or attacking and such

this bird actually seems amused by the "other bird" and is singing to it ^^

  • My Cockatiel liked to follow me around the house I'd fly to where I was. I would test her and put her on top of her cage and walk away before I was even out of her sight I would hear my birds wings flap and then she'd be on my shoulder or trying to climb up in my hair lol. I didn't have her for long so I she didn't try talking yet. What happened to my bird? My sister kept the door open when I wasn't home so Phoenix (my birds name) flew out the door. :(

  • my birds like it when i leave the tv on, so are they going to start repeating what gthey hear on the tv?

now i know girl cockatiels dont talk, but my fav girl luvs th lion king and anastsia, tthe oys in the room that hear it loads, ill they pick out phrases in it :O

btw do girls eventually do anything, sing? etc

  • adorable <3

  • So, birds are not supposed to have mirrors huh? I have a mirror in the cage with my cockatiels because they love it, especially the female. My African Grey on the other hand doesn't like them, so she doesn't have a mirror. I've had birds for 10 years and never have I heard this crap about mirros being bad for them.

  • Mine looks just like this pretty bird :)...

  • Everytime I bring suni to the bathroom he has a ball but if I leave the bathroom with him on my shoulder he then flies back in the bathroom and continues to have a conservation.

  • This Cockatiel is stunning...!!!! It's in excellent feather, and quite large at that. I've been in the avian field now, for just about 20yrs. And i can tell you right now, you've done a helluva job, taking care of your bird. Just a gorgeous big Lutino, if i ever did see one. Keep up the great work.........

  • So conceited!

  • jesus...obviously all of the people here on youtube who have cockatiels have no clue how to keep them. putting them in front of a mirror damages their brain. it may be cute but i feel sorry for these birds.

  • @RomiKhan ~ I've heard the mirror RULES over & over but riddle me this: Why do they sell MIRRORS & MIRROR type toys for these birds?? Hell I see numberous toys with bells attached to the bottom of round mirrors! These birds peck & tug at these toys. ( all other toys go untouched by the way )

  • @lfarted those toys are for parakeets. they are allowed to see their reflection. cockatiel not. i once had a male cockatiel and back then we didnt know anything about this mirror thing either and put him in front of mirrors and all that stuff. he went bezerk and soon started attacking us as soon as we got near him when he was near a mirror.

  • @RomiKhan Ahhhhh, Ok. I understand & will REMOVE all mirrors from this bird.

  • @lfarted im sorry if i'm understanding your comment wrong but it sounds a bit. sarcastic to me. of course you cant rip out the mirrors in your bathroom. just keep the cockatiels away from them. im sorry if you felt offended by my comment but i care a lot about animals and especially these kind of birds. so i'm just trying to help.

  • @lfarted It's not necessary to remove mirrors from cockatiels! Only if they start bonded to their image and getting too aggressive.

  • @lfarted My cockatiels have always had access to mirrors and been quite happy and social birds.

  • @lfarted There is NO problem letting a cockatiel see his own reflection in a mirror.. I have three of them and they never went crazy or anything... It can happen if you get your bird in a petshop or when he's a year old for the one and only reason that he might have never seen any mirror in his life... Just imagine yourself in front of a mirror for the first time at three years old... Seriously, I'm sure you'ld freak out... So please just think a minute before saying things that make no sense...

  • @lfarted The problem with cockatiels and mirrors is that the cockatiels are incapable to recognize their reflexion and think that the reflexion is another bird, and thus start mating him what RmoKhan described as "went beserk". Imagine yourself standing in front of a mirror and talking to the reflexion because you think it's another person, the same thing, only we humans are smart enough to recognize ourselves in the mirror. :)

  • @lfarted Lol you shouldnt have to remove the mirrors. I have a grey cockatiel who loves his mirror. I asked the bird shop where I got mine from and they said a mirror was fine. Even THEIR cockatiels have mirrors in the store!!!

  • @RomiKhan

That is incorrect. Mirrors are sort of a 50-50 shot. For the most part shoving a bird in front of the mirror is unwise. It does look cute, but it makes the bird extremely uncomfortable and aggressive.

  • @TheSummerRoses that's not even true he probly attacked you cause he thought it was another bird and wanted to stay (WHY DO U THINK THEY MAKE MIRROR BIRD TOYS)

  • @RomiKhan Well, that's YOUR bird. MY bird only becomes more affectionate when he encounters a mirror- not just towards the mirrorbird, but towards me and my boyfriend, as well. It soothes my Sweetheart to be near a mirror!

Think about what you're saying: how could encountering a mirror POSSIBLY cause brain damage? Unless the mirror is radioactive, or you slam his head into it repeatedly, mirrors will NOT cause brain damage. I'd love to see where you heard this ridiculous idea!

  • @RomiKhan Two things... There ARE toy with mirrors for cockatiel. And if you're cockatiel went crazy, it's probably because he thought it was another cockatiel that he had to protect, like it was his girlfriend... If he had never seen his reflection when he was a baby, it's totally normal, he CAN'T understand the reflection isn't real. Parakeet can go crazy too by the way... My boyfriend has one who really think he can have babies with it, if you understand what I mean...

  • @RomiKhan As a son of parents who have owned a pet store for 20 years, this man speaks the truth.

  • My cockatiel did the same thing. It got to the point that it would guard its shadow from us. After a while I found out the problem, Ricky was not a male, but a female! And her obsessive desire to be a mother was so strong it prevented her from bonding with other birds. She would attack them and fly at a person's face in attempt to bite their eyes, if anyone or anything got too close to her nest box or reflection.

  • @RomiKhan Yes my cockatiel would act weird because of the mirror too. He would get angry when we tried to take it away. I actually heard they kind of fall in love with their reflection thinking it is another bird. My cockatiel started obssesively humping the wooden perch in his cage. Sounds funny but it was true. We thought how he whistled and talked in front of the mirror was adorable but then heard that the mirror was bad for the bird.

  • My bird had Obssessive Compulsive disorder. He would walk backwards and step up and down and up the ladder. Ha ha so cute. This part had nothing to do with the mirror though.

  • @RomiKhan Dude yes cockatiels have items with mirros being sold for them i always see, and buy some that have a gaint ass COCKATIEL pic on the cardboard you numbskull .... stop believing that one really crapy website that you found and just totally believed.

  • @ltinymonkyl - then they have bad information, they shouldn't be selling mirrors for cockatiels. I had a cockatiel, and I know how they behave around mirrors. When one of these birds sees itself in a mirror it starts to believe it is another bird, and gets very agressive. If you leave a cockatiel with a mirror for too long, you will basically un-finger-train it, because it will stop trusting you. It is a bad idea to give them mirrors, unless you can't be around very often to care for it.

  • @RomiKhan That is unbelievably stupid. Yes, you shouldn't have mirror toys because the bird may bond to the "bird in the mirror" and start to get territorial around the toy, but putting your bird in front of the bathroom mirror every now and again isn't going to give a bird brain damage. If the bird gets nippy and hormonal when it sees its reflection, don't bring it in front of the mirror. Problem solved.

  • @RomiKhan well i got cockatiel and we put a small mirron toy in is cage and he don't go berzerk or anything and i don't have any problem to get near im or "grabbing". the funny thing is that we found im actually we were doing a party at my house and he dropped on one of my aunt head. since then we got im. I must at start he was wild kinda normal but now nothing ^^

  • @RomiKhan They're showing their dominance of their over the over "bird". They think there's another bird there, when it's just their reflection. They're being protective over what's "theirs". It doesn't physically or physiologically harm them. Just a trick of the mind. Some birds will do this if they actually do have a mate in the cage with them. Some may not. Just depends on the bird.

  • @RomiKhan Whats happened hear is you cockatiel has bonded with his own reflection and doesnt want a bar of you. I'm the same, i never had a mirror in my cage because i've heard they can bond with their reflection and what you really want is the bird to bond with you so i can be friendly

  • @RomiKhan my cockatiels have never had an issue with it.. they see it as another bird.. are you an Avian Veteraniarian ?

  • @RomiKhan

They do not know its an reflection, they just want a respond from the other bird, but somehow it talks back with the same words at the same time, and the cockatiel is to social, so it will get nervous en stressed out becaus of the mirror

  • @RomiKhan

Those mirrors in fact are not only for Parakeets but they also state on the tag that it is also for medium size birds such as: Cockatiels... I know this because i have plenty of mirrors in all of the cages (by plenty i mean 1 or 2 xP) and they haven't gone "blezerk" like your male did.. whatever hapend to your bird wasen't the mirrors fault but the fault of someone......?

  • @lfarted I just recently found out the"mirror rule". Personally I wouldnt want to give my bird any mirrors cause I want him to pay attention to me. I heard that it also frustrates them because they see their own kind and want to interact with their reflection and when they don get a responce they are looking for they get angry/frustrated. Makes sense to me. But if your bird is mentally happy with mirrors, then I see nothing wrong.

  • @friskybronco05 this is exactly the "rule" i meant. by seeing their reflection they think its another bird. they become "stupid" and want to interact with their own kind as you said yourself. my bird was also "mentally happy" with mirrors for a while. and then he started attacking us and biting the hell out of us. so we kept him away from any mirror or reflecting thing in the house.

  • @lfarted my brothers cockatiel is in love with himself, all he wants to do is get in front of a large mirror, and when you try to play with him, he attacks you, it's so weird.

  • @lfarted Because most pet stores, believe it or not, aren't populated with people who know--or give a shit--about your pets. Most major chains hire people who don't know the first thing about animals and sell toys mass produced in hopes to cash in. I have two cockatiels, and in the beginning I made the mistake of letting my bird play with a mirror/mirror toys. It took six+ months to re-train him to play and talk to ME again. And still, he isn't the same. DON'T let your bird bond with a mirror.

  • @RomiKhan I didnt hear it damages there brain but that they will bond with the image(themselves) if they see it often, so make it a treat instead of a normal toy

  • @XDfunnymunkyXD please read friskybronco05's comment and my answer to it. this will explain. =)

  • @RomiKhan What??? I've kept cockatiels for the last 17 years and none of them have become brain damaged by seeing themselves in a mirror or talking to their own reflection. Why feel sorry for this bird, he is quite content sitting there, going about his business.

  • @RomiKhan you know why your bird was attacking you, it's cause he or she became attached to the mirror, meaning the bird thought i was another bird.......

  • @LaceyExile16 Yep basicly to get him to get over it

    get another cockatiel

  • @RomiKhan actually it dosent damage their brains. my dad is a vet and we have birds. its actually good for them as it stimulates them. i dont know where you got ur information from but its incorrect.

  • @RomiKhan True mirrors shouldn't be used but if the bird is alone and the owner don't pay attention to it. Mirror is a more humain way to bring it company. But then again people shouldn't have a bird if they don't pay attention to it....

  • @RomiKhan It does not Damage their brain,All it does is make them think there is another bird. it does no physical harm to them,Some teils will get angry if they dont like what they see, but thats because they think there is another bird in their territory. And different birds have different reactions, they are like people and have i differing personalities, it all depends on the reaction,if it isnt a negative one the Bird should be fine with a mirror. its all about common sense.

  • It does not damage their brain - they just start to bond with the reflection in the mirror.

  • @RomiKhan why would it damage their brain? Does it damage a persons to see their own reflection?

  • @Braingames3600 yep .. this is why all the womens crazy

  • @RomiKhan

can you tell me a little more i just got this "terrible" mirror tell me if it's harmful for bird <:| :O

  • @RomiKhan so true

  • @RomiKhan yeah, my brother has 2 of them and the one is damaged by being in front of the mirror, all he wants to do is get to the mirror now, it's kind of sad, like he's in love with himself now, once the damage is done, there's no reversing it either.

  • I hope you dont keep him alone...they need bird company...

ANd I must say, it is not a good thing that you have him watch himself in the mirror, he thinks the one in there is his partner and that is why he sings...

  • They either learn how to talk of how to sing. Mine sings the Mexican hat dance.

  • these type of birds are cute they remind me of pikachu becasue they have the red cheeks it so adorable

  • Haha, I play this sometimes and my cockatiel talks back to the video. :D

  • youtube.com/watch?v=qAyWD26z9kY

  • how do you know if it's not you doing the noise?

  • @xLoveisRespect4everx My voice is ALSO on this video & I can tell the difference in OUR voices. If you listen closely, you will to0! Thanks.

  • @lfarted when i had a cockatiel i had a little mirror for it it had never attacked us it loves us wat the otherperson was saying probly was that his bird grew a attachment to thhe mirror bird and tryingg to protect it becuz it thinks it'ss anotherbird that why they have small mirrors in the cage so they think it's another bird so i keeps them company he did usto bite a lil when we get the mirror to clean it but thats becuz he was trying to protect his precious thing but he was good u

  • @xLoveisRespect4everx A cockatiel doesnt use its touge most of the time to talk (or make fromiliar sounds) it uses its vocal and it is the cockatiel making the noise, my bird makes this noise (the one that sounds like pretty bird) but with a grrrrrr noise xD

  • Nice screenname, by the way. Not. >_>

  • yes your pretty

  • lol that sooooo cute

  • my cockatiel Puci is listening to that cockatiel and he has raised his head to find him

hahaha those parrots are just amazing and wonderful

  • how did you teach it

  • My cockatail knows how to say pritty bird to :)

  • My cockatiel is here with me listening to this and he is going crazy. He's chirping and looking for your bird

  • so your saying that if i say to me bird, im going to KONK you on the head with a wooden spoon, he will start talking?? lol ive heard this before to and i dont understand how it will make my tiel talk please help

  • @chimmi85 wow!

  • @chimmi85 LOL it's a joke. To get them to talk, you have to repeat the same thing in the same tone over and over for weeks. And even then, there's no guarantee. Not all of them will talk.

  • My Cockatiel Bobby (r.i.p.) unfortunately never was as clever as yours. The only thing she managed to pull of (a couple of times) was to crashland behind cupboards or to strangle herself within the curtains ... Yet she managed to die a natural death at 10 years of age. We loved her dearly for her stupidity. ;-))

  • thats hella cool

  • cute

  • people always teach this birds to say "hello birdy" or "pretty bird"

only to have the bird call you a bird. should teach it things you want to hear yourself cuz you gotta listen to it over n over

  • Hello, what age had he when he started talking?

  • You have a beautiful cockatiel! Mine is white too but her wings are also black

  • soo cute

  • hey ifarted why would u hit a bird on the head with a wooden spoon? and how much birds do u have and the bird in the video its still alive promble right and i have 2 cockatiels but they dont know how to talk so im training then too training a bird to talk is it hard?

  • cute

  • this cockatiel is so cute and my bird says my name insted of pretty bird

  • Haha he's saying it cause he's looking at himself in the mirror, he's complimenting himself. I'm getting 2 of them today

  • boy or girl?

  • bast cockatiel that said pretty bird

  • so what

  • SOOOO cool!

  • I was watching this and my cockatiel started repeating yours lol

  • haha my cockiteil gett's really angery when im getting him out'a his cage then he just chills and run's about , how can you make them talk , just persist with the same word ?

  • is that a girl cockatiel or a boy? cause i have the same kind and its a girl but i ve been told they dont vocalize much...is that true or false?

  • is that a girl cockatiel or a boy? cause i have the same kind and its a girl but i ve been told they dont vocalize much...is that true or false?

  • Mine likes to lick the mirror whenever he gets near one. XD

  • I remember my cockateil used to do this and an odd whistle to bad he died a few years ago. IT was also fun having him around.

  • I had one as a kid (identical to this one) named Bogey who I taught to wolf-whistle. I miss him :( I wish I could have a bird again, but unfortunately my semi-nomadic existence makes it impossible right now...

  • how did u get him to do that..i got to and my older one he is 8 months and how long did u work with him ..i work with mine everyday for like 15 plus mins,. i wishtle and talk to him "pretty boy" ect..please help thanks...

  • I just got one today! im very excited and i wanna learn it to talk and dance ! :)

  • someone email me tips/tricks for cockatielsss pleasee!

  • i think lutino cockatiels love to bite.. mine bites too luckily he only bites hard when he is multing. how old is yours? mine is uner 12 months and is really small still

  • I want one!!!.... but i already got a borring bird, who dont wanna talk to me, he's almost 3-4 years old, and every time i look at him he jump down to buttom of cage

  • He's very pretty :3

My one Tiel can say Tweekers and Shower, and I think he knows some other words but I cant understand him, lol.

My other Tiel is just a baby, he just seems to make an odd laughing sound. :P

  • my cockatiel ( sunshine ) can say birdy kisses, Pretty bird, i love you, wazz upp peeps, Hows it going, silly goose, and can sing mary had a little lamb i love my bird !!!

  • how do i know if its a male or female

it looks the same as yours but a little skinny than that one

    please reply. thanks in advance

  • @JAckmAN7597 It's really simple to know if it's Male or Female. If it sings, it's a Male. If it just Chirps and doesn't sing, it's a female.

  • @JAckmAN7597 a female has pale cheeks and a male has very bright orange cheeks. also the males are more talkative

  • i think its quite easy to make a cockiteal say pretty bird cuz ours says it (not as good as yours)

  • Cute - seems to think he's REALLY a pretty bird !!! Of course he IS. Thanks for sharing

  • Cool

  • i hate my cockatil, he never talks and just sits on his bench

  • my cockateil is white to...but no yellow hair and orange on his cheek...

  • my birds 2 yrs old an doesnot say a word !! why

  • @juels1000: HelllllooOOOooo, that would mean you have a female. Only males sing and talk. I suggest you give your tiel away to someone who will love it.

  • Someone loves himself. xD

  • well, that's 2 words more than my tiel :)

  • @ifarted dosent work

  • why isnt my cockatiel chirping its been 2 months already plz tell me why

  • Threaten to "KONK" him on the head with a wooden spoon. I hear that gets em chattin up a storm!

  • dosent work

  • @lfarted why would you hit a bird with a wooden spoon and is that your only bird because i have 2 cockatiels

  • @lfarted um... i'm not sure about that... because... it might threaten them and...

how did your bird start to talk and how did you get it to talk?

  • @lfarted that's abuse.........

  • @lfarted Thats mean an
