I have owned both a 2v and 4v mustang, there is no comparison. The 4v motor is 10x better and I would never go back. The 2v motors can be fast, but it takes more money and work than a 4v motor. Only the new trickflow 2v heads flow close to what the 4V motors do, sorry these are simply facts.
@stangdriver13 very true.... those 2 valve modular motors make mad power, but take mad money to get there..... i ALMOST bought a 2002 GT with the modular 2 valve 4.6 and i walked because, one it had those "risky" comp cams that if they arent installed properly you have head damage, and 2 the 4v 5.0's are just a much better design all around for reliability and power.....
@EIPtuningR32 risky comp cams? its kinda hard to improperly install a cam...degreeing it is a different issue and if your cam has a lot of duration and isnt degreed properly then yeah you will have ptv issues...theres nothing wrong with comp cams but there is with the person installing them. 4v 5.0's? unless your talking about the new GT's idk wtf your talking about.

@Nismo1182 nope.you are not comparing apples to apples.the chevy engines are most always high compression.ford modular is not.high compression is not boost friendly.if two engines are the exact same(bore for bore,stroke for stroke,low compression for low compression,cubic inch for cubic inch,cam lift for cam lift)except for 1 having D.O.H.C. heads and 1 having 2v pushrod heads,the engine with D.O.H.C. 4v heads will make bout 90-100hp more than the old school chevy 2v pushrod heads.look it up.
Chevy LS engines arent THAT much higher compression than Ford mod motors. An LS1 has 10:1 which is what a DOHC 4.6 NA Cobra motor has. The new coyote 5.0 is 11:1 The LS3 from a Camaro is 10.7:1
How about this. GMs 2nd gen 4.8 V8 puts out 300hp and 305tq.
40 more hp than a 2V GT 4.6 and 20 LESS (NOT 90-100) than a NA 4v 4.6. Oh yea, this is a truck engine not really tuned for sports car use, which if it was it would be right on par with a dohc na 4.6

C5 Z06s only competition from Ford back then was the terminator(not even the same class), which even supercharged with all that head flow wasnt 405hp, only 65hp more than a na 4.6. No difference. Just saying GM needs 7 liters to hang is just wrong. A boosted 5.3 or 5.7 will put down similar numbers or better to a boosted 5.4

@Nismo1182 nope.you are not comparing apples to apples.the chevy engines are most always high compression.ford modular is not.high compression is not boost friendly.if two engines are the exact same(bore for bore,stroke for stroke,low compression for low compression,cubic inch for cubic inch,cam lift for cam lift)except for 1 having D.O.H.C. heads and 1 having 2v pushrod heads,the engine with D.O.H.C. 4v heads will make bout 90-100hp more than the old school chevy 2v pushrod heads.look it up.

Chevy LS engines arent THAT much higher compression than Ford mod motors. An LS1 has 10:1 which is what a DOHC 4.6 NA Cobra motor has. The new coyote 5.0 is 11:1 The LS3 from a Camaro is 10.7:1
How about this. GMs 2nd gen 4.8 V8 puts out 300hp and 305tq.
40 more hp than a 2V GT 4.6 and 20 LESS (NOT 90-100) than a NA 4v 4.6. Oh yea, this is a truck engine not really tuned for sports car use, which if it was it would be right on par with a dohc na 4.6

Yea the new 5.0s are impressive. I just sucks it took Ford this long to pump up the power on NA mod motors.

@Nismo1182 they had the 5.0L D.O.H.C. modular crate engine out for at least a decade now.just not as a production engine for production cars.lets see a N/A 5.0L pushrod chevy 2v motor make that.they wont.not with low compression heads anyway.ford does it with low compression.just proves that 4v modular heads are better than old school pushrod 2v heads.the 5.7L Z06 vette only had 405hp stock.the new 5.0L mustang gt has more hp than a 5.7L z06 vette.more hp with smaller motor.ford rules.

Like I said already, the new 5.0 has 11:1 pistons. Definately not low like you say it is. C5 Z06s only competition from Ford back then was the terminator(not even the same class), which even supercharged with all that head flow wasnt 405hp, only 65hp more than a na 4.6. Chevy didnt need a reason to pump out anymore hp. LOL
