Rick Warren is a double fat, nasty piece of shit. Any woman that would lay under him for his worthless cock is truely deserving of a public flogging.
Interestingly, 5000 years ago it was fairly common for brothers and sisters to marry--look at the Egyptians, men often married child brides and, of course, polygamy is supported in the Bible.
I personally don't see what's unexpected about Obama's move. He campaigned with Donny McClurkin in the past giving the same line to the lgbt community about personally disagreeing with a particular view but still collecting political proceeds nonetheless.
What a bunch of crap! So someone says a prayer, SO WHAT! Obama is going to swear ON THE CONSTITUTION - & the founders were DEISTS, not Christians! As a Native American, I favor BIGAMY with four rotating wives for a certain phase of initiation. Do I try to impose my DOGMA on YOU? NO! These right-wing fanatic "Christianizers", who have turned the INSURGANT, ANTI-OCCUPATION Jesus around into a "Blesser" of machine-gunning pregnant women at "checkpoints", have got to go! Starting with Palin!
You are a Native American.. Listen.. You are watching the "sparks" of Armageddon.. Mankind is under attack.. The destroyers of Earth, have come.. They are in disguise, and blend into the population without detection.. Your only alert of their presence, is that they are against the Natural Order of Nature.. This is not "right wing only".. All Democrats feel the same way. Casting it as Right Wing, is a tactic of deception. Tell your tribe, the bringers of destruction are here!
This so called religious leader does not bring us all together. He is a divider not a uniter. I urge Obama to find someone of true compassion and tolerance for people, a religious leader that loves all. God loves all, jesus loves all. Rick Warren his a heartless bigot.
I would have been EQUALLY inappropriate for him to choose his old pastor, or Palin's pastor, or some KKK leader, etc., etc. You don't pick some extremist to do these things. STUPID stupid choice.
There was a very important moment in the Biden/Palin debate when both said they did not agree on gay marriage yet condoned same-sex rights. The interviewee asked them if that was the only issue they agreed on, and they both said yes, then moved on to another topic. Yet somehow during the campaign and after the election, most gays were rallied around Obama. I don't get it.
Well, Obama is a Constitutional Lawyer and I do think he will fight for LGBT equality. He was No On Prop 8 in CA. People need to get used to the idea that he will include people he does not agree with, he has always said it. But it's a good thing- it forces dialouge, change and growth. We cant spend 8 more years of left and right throwing insults, its time to work it out as ugly as it may be- and equality will win in the end
My point is, I don't know what to make of Obama when it comes to LGBT rights. I am concerned about the overwhelming support he got from our community. He has always seemed undeserving of it.
I'm actually straight. I have a gay brother and I ralied for No On Prop 8 in CA. Obama was accused of being friends with terrorists, to his middle name being Hussein, to not being a citizen etc by McCain and Republicans. He also extended his hand to MCcain after it was over. I do not think he is throwing LGBT under the bus- its just the man he is to include different viewpoints. Remember Warren will be going to DC to help swear in a President that will help LGBT citizens out ~ karma works :)
There is close to nothing that demonstrates he will assist the LGBT community in our efforts. The middle name anecdote is irrelevant to this discussion. I hope Obama works towards equal rights for our community, but my concern appears to be both legitimate and somehow vindicated by the Rick Warren faux pas.
What Joe should have mentioned is that the words of Rick Warren against gay marriage are the same as those of ministers of his parents' generation who voiced opposition to interracial marriage.
I Voted No On Prop 8 and I support the HRC, but they are wrong on this issue. Rick Warren will probably speak for 2 minutes at the Inaguration and its YOU who are giving him hours of airtime. You could be giving all this media attention to Rev. Joseph Lowery. Obama made it clear he would include people he did not agree with, now you are showing intolerance. Rick Warren also gives 10% of his book profits to help people with AIDS and he is open to discussion with gays...pick your battles

It now seems as though Obama has placed gay people at the back of the bus.
Why not also have the leader of the KKK speak at the ceremony?

Well you know it's called compromise.....like dropping employment protection for Transsexual people in the hope of ENDA passing for gay people only.

Because Obama supports civil unions but not marriage. He has also been more vocal about domestic partnership rights.
