Like Ms. Staples put it was really wonderful of him to visit our planet. Maybe I'll be fortunate to meet him in another world. Him and Armstrong, Bechet, Ellington, Mingus, Montgomery, Jackson, Coltrane, Washington, Gordon, Davis, Getz, Dameron, Brown,Goodman ,Gillespie, Monk, Jones , Garner, Evans, Eldridge, Adderly, Dolphy, Hampton, Hawkins, Hill , Henderson, Kelly, Hubbard, and all the other all-time greats. May they be eternally blessed...
Are you f-in kidding me!!!! This is an amazing artist here! His playing is beyond belief. I've known for a while that he is a great all-time player but this is extraordinary technique. I'm really sorry I never got to see him play live. His music will go on forever, an endless epoch of artistry.
My first glimpse, I thought this was Louis Hayes on drums, and, so, maybe even George Mraz (THAT trio) - but now I'm thinking that's actually Alan Dawson. Maybe Steve Novosel, bass (great basist)? Any thoughts?
LOVE THIS!!! Wow, what a gem. Thank you so much for taping this initially and then posting it!!! :-) And I thought I had most of his appearances on video!
Oh man, thank you for posting this. Where did you get it? I have been looking for this for 27 years.....which was the last time I saw it when I was a kid.
@1965JWP I used to record everything I could on VCR and I was lucky enough to be in front of the TV the night it was on. 27 years? Wow...glad I found it.

Absolute virtuosity. I just like BIll Evans better, he's a lot more emotional than Oscar in my opinion
