This is fantastically sung. It is Raag Desh of course. Not Tilak Kamod. But what difference does it make anyway---What bliss in the singer's rendition !! He should have sung more classical !!

If you are familiar with Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa; seven notes in one Saptak then Re is Rikhab and Ni is Nikhad. Except Sa and Pa the other notes are two noted, the lower called Komal and the upper teewer. Sudh means Sacha note.

In Tilak kamod we emphasize on Nikhad note and in Dais we emphasize on Rikhab and both Nikhads are used. All Notes remain the same except the treatment that makes both so different.

Generally Thumri singing is popular in Raag Tilak Kamod. Khan saheb has given the difference between Raags Dais and Tilak Kamod. Amazing combination of entertainment and education. Thanks very much for this rare upload.

Of course, as expected, MH demonstrates all his legendary qualities,esp. the delicate, wave-like smoothness of movement over all the notes of the composition. And I also love how the bansuri softly fills in or nudges the vocal part along at the right moments.
