This song is growing on me some, after I found a live version of her singing it solo here on youtube. I do like the visualettes, and yes the videos are of her walking around and looking at things. She wanted it that way, after seeing the films shot while they were touring. etc. She was aiming for that "not aware you are being watched" look I believe.

I find "Fire to Your Plain" as the best song on AATS (counting how many times I was listening it on my ipod). I can listen it again and again, it is so addictive! And sexy - as well as the visuallette with beautiful Pip and Isabel (or Santa? it's hard to tell). Nice to see Tash too!

I really enjoyed the Bee Keeper. This new one is reminds me a tad of To venus and back, but her lyrics have really taken a nose dive since choirgirl. I really enjoyed some of the depth to the music on this new album, but I srongly recommend NOT reading the lyrics.

These aren't too bad, I wasn't sure about her last album either. And though most of us have all been huge 'Toriphiles' for a long time, the past albums have been great, but not always perfect. I still skip Rasberry Swirl to this day

I was never big on Raspberry Swirl until I saw her live and she played it with Matt using a 50 gallon drum for percussion. It was awesome! It had a real jungle beat thing going when it's done like that. It was amazing!

I have to agree. I'm struggling with this album, the videos do not help. It seems no one can critique her without getting their head chopped off. Tori is a wonderful artist, but she is not "perfect" and I find this album to be too quickly manufactured. How many labels has she gone through? I'm not saying bring the old Tori back, just stop pushing albums out so fast...less dressup and more contextual material.

I agree with your right to an opinion. When I first heard ADP It took me a while to warm up to it. Now it's in my top three Tori albums. I think the same goes for this new one. I wasn't jumping for joy when I first bought it, but now out of 17 songs, there are only 4 that I'm still not warmed up to. The only thing that sucks is, that she played 3 out of the four songs I don't like off the new cd at her show last night. And that was it. No other new material played.

I'm not a big fan of what I've heard of this album, but so what? I don't think being a fan of a band/artist means you have to love everything they do. Most artists change over time, and some fans are going to like some things better than others. Artists have the right to change their sound as they see fit; to grow as artists and all that. Some people are blindly loyal, but every artist has fans like that. If you think she rocks as much now as she did then, good for you. If not, that's cool too

She's still great. Blood Roses hasn't disappeared. You can still listen to it if you want. Do you want her to sound the same on every CD she ever does? She'll end up like Enya if she did that. I wasn't sure about this CD at first, but as I said, after a few listens, it really grew on me. If it doesn't do the same for you, you can still stick to her older stuff. Maybe on a future CD she'll do something again with the harpsichord. But until then, no need to get so angry... just relax and enjoy.

There is hope that the message will get through. If you go to the reviews for this release at Amazon you will see similar takes on the decline of Tori. All I know is that she went to the UK to play earth mother and the USA has gone to shit in the meantime. I'm not saying everything is her fault but she had her hand in it.

Vocal timbre is pretty similar. In this song, the lyric, "watching him watching her" is in exactly the same rhythmic configuration as Kate's lyric "watching you watching me" from her Sensual World CD (1989). I love Tori, and, at least she puts out an album more than once every dozen years. But, yeah, there's some, shall we say, homage to Kate that goes on in a lot of Tori's stuff.
