  • this was a little disappointing, he dodged all the questions apart from 2 out of like 10. i expected much better from LKY in his prime.

  • lee kuan yew.. true leader.. true inspiration..why you singaporean in this generation don't know how to appreciate his countribution to the country? :(

  • Very good prime minister!

  • His voice, penetrating through the time, is electrifying.

  • He sounds like a british.

  • @ASSHOLELA Maybe because he received education in a time where the British ruled Singapore and himself, received education in Britain.

  • He is the MAN!!!

  • I admire this great Singaporean leader Lee Kuan Yew along with other Asian leaders like Japan's Yoshihiko Noda and Philippines' Richard J. Gordon.

  • and these other guys have noooo idea what he's talking about

  • DAMN !!! like a prophet everything he talks about comes true

  • That's how you answer questions in politics... LIKE A BOSS

  • i think there are no right answers to politically loaded questions. if a person offers all the right answers to these questions, it's impossible.

  • @wallyo077 please Grow up. you are talking rubbish. Go to TOC. There are many rubbish over there.

  • hes hilarious, thats like beating my wife, i would never beat my wife

  • 8:00 His answers concerning Vietnam are as valid for Vietnam then as for Iraq and Afghanistan now.

  • @8zz8 that's so true

  • i dun think LKY is answering the question

  • @dontbeannoying it's called dodging sensitive questions :D

  • lee is the man!!!! my hero!!!!

  • @dhov This man has been my role model ever since I was 16. I'm the same age as Magus LKY when he was elected in '59 and I've not experienced anything he has, I envy him for what he has experienced. I even wonder what he said on the Rioting in London during the summer, or the Northern Ireland Peace Process.

  • TO those critics of Mr Lee KY and its party... Look at Singapore and take awhile to think... Where on earth, can you find a country that has transformed from a third world to a first world in just a short span of 40years.

Do not make allegations of any sort unless you have proof.

If you have not seen it with your own eyes. Do not invent it with your small mind and spread it with your big mouth.

  • The world would be a much better place if there were more people like Lee Kuan Yew.

  • @drummer6781 not just like Lee Kuan Yew, he does have his flaws, but what makes him so great is his driven and determined character to see things to the end, with integrity and a fierce will. However, that also needs to be balanced with listening to what the people have to say.

  • no matter what ppl say about his political party or his ruthlessness toward his political enemies, no one can deny his huge contributions to not only singapore, but also the world.

  • LOL Racist. HAHAHA ! '' But you're an Asian ''

  • @za7v9ier sadly that was the general attitudes that shaped the disasterous American policy in Vietnam in the first place: failure to understand. Saying "...but you're chinese" is like saying someone from the US who had great-great-great-great grandparents from England, that he must have some special insight on what's happening in the UK - totally ridiculous.

  • Hey I sent 10 cents to that address! where is my copy!?

  • @albeanmagz19 Ha! This is funny. You should have sent in 1967.

  • World statesman and political master par excellence, second to none! We are grateful for all he's done for our nation and stand in awe of the not inconsiderable risks he took in earlier years to help make us what we are today. Respect!!

  • I am impressed by the way LKY answered the questions. I cannot help but noticed his high forehead . My God this guy is highly intelligent.

  • nice

  • @abderrazzak2009

if LKY were Moroco PM in 1967? are you happy?

We have many idot Singaproean do not appreciate what we have and do not wish to keep as what we have.

  • With this talk of American aid, it's ironic that after Hurrican Katrina, Singapore chose to assist the Louisiana National Guard and New Orleans Police Department in delivering humanitarian assistance.

  • Wow such guts and wisdom, especially so in the face of a rising US. Anymore such videos?

  • impressive!

  • LKY... The most electrifying man in history... The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be...

  • @charleshoon more Machiavellian than Machiavelli himself..

  • 1536 LKY promptly put an end to that. Mention demonstration now and all you get are nervous smiles and warnings of being thrown into prison.

  • @ChenAdrian Once you stay in power too long, your idealism goes out the door.

  • watch?v=pVcKkPflmT8

listen to Charlie Munger praise LKY

  • He actually predicted how the Vietnam war would ends in 1967 (8 years before it happens!) He foresaw the key to winning the war was whether Americans have the stamina and stomach to see through a long drawn war and that the TV broadcast of the war would change US public opinion of the war. Amazing! Superbly slick handling of the press in an unrehearsed interview. This video is a gem!

  • Mr Lee Kuan Yew will sure be a great PM even today....a political genius

  • 13:16 -> what a sage...

  • @Konig1985

One of the most perceptive men of the C20th. With an almost uncanny prescience, he predicted the rise of China as a major power. I'd like to know what he made of the recent riots in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol. I bet he would call it a breakdown of social values.

My message to all Singaporeans? You should be proud of what you and your island have achieved, it's one of the most profound achievements of the C20th.

  • I'm so proud to be a Singaporean

  • This interview is a testament that LKY is a man ahead of his time. It's also fun to see him try to dodge the politically loaded questions the press try to ask.

  • Ever prescient, LKY got it right right from the beginning. Had he been consulted on Iraq and AfPak, he would have advised similarly. If only he'd been our president today, we'd get out of this economic quagmire sooner. Or never sunk into one to begin with.

  • pwnage.

  • The U.S. entered Vietnam on the basis of lies; American politicians, seeing the world as either black or white, couldn't differentiate Communism from "Wars of National Liberation". It was the American soldier who paid for this mistake and the millions who died from this horrible war. Lee knew this but had to walk the fine line between his friends in the West (U.S., Britain) and his Asian neighbors (China, Vietnam, Malaysia etc.)...making sure never to offend either.

  • His predictions and evaluations are freakishly and incredibly accurate. The last bit when the reporters lit up cigarettes in the studio and on air was quite shocking to kids like me LOL.

  • This is such a gem..... such a gem!!!

  • Slick response.
