You all fucking serious? Iron Maiden not Heavy Metal? Sure, they may not have that same heaviness of modern bands or even Sabbath. But not heavy metal? Fucking hell, where would we be without Maiden? They're a DRIVING force of modern metal! They helped eliminate the blues elements from metal and gave it that classical/progressive influence. Not to mention they popularized the metal format- time changes, etc.

Consider for a moment Slayer, who although may have started off playing dubious covers, released Hell Awaits (2nd album '85) and Reign in Blood (3rd album '86), utterly essential 80's metal albums which well surpassed the gayness of I.M. thus negating their so called influence.

I never said shit against Lemmy or Kerry King. Motörhead and Slayer are quintessential metal bands, yes. But have you ever heard how often Slayer have quoted Maiden as part of the reason they play? Or how about how Lemmy has paid respect to Maiden?

Saw Maiden at Twickenham... Can't remember the date, but was around that time so maybe you know how awesome it was lol.

As of yet, have not seen Eluveitie. They're always touring with other bands that I'm not too fond of. But when they headline their own tour, no matter how small, in the UK, I'll be thee.
