It´s kind of difficult to get a permit to climb all the way to the top of the mountain (4,000 ft). We have made that trip for about three years now in Spring, as then it gets too hot, in commemoration of Father Kino´s ascent there, with a special permit issued by the Biosfera. We even put a plaque at the top, commemorating the tricentennial.
However, besides the historical dimension, it´s a wonderful experience, as there you can feel our Earth´s fragility as well as it´s magnificence.
@suarezbarnett I used to live in Yuma, and have been very close hiking the mountains around there, and have flown over it, but never been there. Very interesting place. Thank you Alberto!
