I have to say, that what you believe of Jim Carrey or Ekhart Tolle you could see the light in Jim's eyes when he described the changes that occurred in his life and it was about love, guess some of you miss that point.thats too bad,, so sad.
It's easy for extremely wealthy people to see only good in the world. If the wealthy knew that heaven was within them and all around them, they would stop hording all the money and resources, and let the wealth spread around, especially with those who have earned it. Love only gives. The wealthy exchange "ideas" with the world but not the actually resources they only share with each other.

@primenemisis nothing. buddha, tolle, osho, or any spiritual teacher for that matter is merely an entity who is pointing to the same idea, enlightenment. at the end of the day, it doesn't matter whatsoever who, where or how you had a shift in consciousness, because enlightenment is has no self image, no attachment, no form.

I cant empathise with Jim. He’s been a Hollywood machine-part for years and now he thinks his mind makes reality. Relieving suffering requires more than pulling faces and claiming 2 be a SuperBowl! How can Jims mind create the event anyway? If he can, then why can’t he cure the sick and feed the hungry with his intension? Of course, it's a great show while HE is around. Jim carrey at this point had not fully let go of his identification with ego/painbody. But he'd gotten really far. Eckhart's way is not the dissolution of pain at all. He never claims that. He says pain will exist. Let it exist uncompromisingly. Things will be hard, but this path is the highest form of living.
He's over the top...thats the whole problem. There's no calmness, attention, focus....it's the uphill on a rollarcoaster, the way he talks and there will surely be a downhill. It's nice to hear I suppose but ultimately meaningless
Here Jim Carrey is promoting the relief of suffering and the negativity of thoughts and the lot of you then proceed to bicker and argue about religion. Do you not realize you are doing the complete antithesis of what the message is saying? Open your eyes people and take heed; quiet those angry and confused thoughts about religion. Amen, but you will have to "clarify" what "I am the way, and I am the Light" means. You are confusing not only me but many others. Because when I read Jesus's teachings and I watch Eckhart's teachings they are very identical. Except you pray for the holy spirit with Jesus and you don't pray to Eckhart. I think that is the main difference. Oh, and the fact that Jesus isn't on this earth and Eckhart is. Jesus is in the sky somewhere I "believe." I would be lying if I "Knew."
I am saying it doesn't make any sense saying "I am the truth, the life, and the way." What the heck does that mean? I read the Tao Te Ching and it is exactly the same as Jesus's teachings(without the dogma) and I read the Bhagadvad Gita which is the same as Jesus's teachings but way more in depth. Now, that would only mean "ONE" thing than, "praying" to Jesus would be the way.
How could "he" be the only way when the other teachings point to the same thing? Unless the dying on the cross really did happen, he rose from the dead, and he is living and you are supposed to have a "relationship" with him, which I would assume means to follow his teachings.

If you really want to help people who are very religious expose them to the texts in their religion that point in the right direction. For resisting Christians tell them to look up books by St. Teresa of Avila, or look at the book ‘The Cloud of Unknowing’ or Fr. Thomas Keating.

Generally speaking I can't stand this guy as an actor but he has a certain depth to his character, a bit of soul and for a potentially enormous ego there is a touch of humility.
One of my biggest questions is how you can bring this awareness to Christians, who still make up for most of the US population. I experience Christians to be very attached to their knowledge of the Bible, and if you try to tell them something else or something more, there is usually a lot of resistance to this. They are not open to the Gospel of Thomas, since mentioning that God is within is inherently a sacrilege to them. Any thoughts?

@TheSpliffSmoker there IS a fundamental truth that relates to the cause of human suffering-thats what enlightenment reveals. Thats the only truth he's pointing to. Beyond that is the realm of mysticism. He doesn't have a gun to your head expecting you to believe anything but his enthusiasm could easily be mistaken for that I guess. It doesn't really matter; you either wake up or you continue to wallow in hypnotic ego-identification making yourself suffer.

Jim carrey at this point had not fully let go of his identification with ego/painbody. But he'd gotten really far. Eckhart's way is not the dissolution of pain at all. He never claims that. He says pain will exist. Let it exist uncompromisingly. Things will be hard, but this path is the highest form of living.

Here Jim Carrey is promoting the relief of suffering and the negativity of thoughts and the lot of you then proceed to bicker and argue about religion. Do you not realize you are doing the complete antithesis of what the message is saying? Open your eyes people and take heed; quiet those angry and confused thoughts about religion. Crushing people's beliefs will not bring you peace. We are all trying to understand the world and many choose to utilize a story to help them. Breathe deep and let go.

I agree with JC that all spirituality is about relieving suffering. Sometimes people find a lot of relief in having the freedom to express their religious beliefs. And part of their beliefs include sharing those beliefs.
So I'm cool with all this internet "evangelism." I figure that's just part of people's religious freedom. And I so appreciate free speech! It's better to argue than fight.

It is different to be proud of someone else.
Perhaps you speak of confidence, but you must notice the difference between confidence and pride. You can be confident you can accomplish something, but be proud that you are a such a "great" person.
Such thought is selfish and evil, despite what the world will tell you.
This world hardly seems to care for self-discipline and stress, dismissing anything it doesn't like as "unhealthy."

Part of experiencing truth in life is respecting the truth that other people experience. And what's wrong with pride? I think it's good for people to be proud of themselves. Maybe he was talking about ego, which is false pride, rather than true pride.
In Ohio, people have a lot of true pride for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team, and have an ongoing friendly "feud" with Michigan fans. I think that's healthy.

Amen, but you will have to "clarify" what "I am the way, and I am the Light" means. You are confusing not only me but many others. Because when I read Jesus's teachings and I watch Eckhart's teachings they are very identical. Except you pray for the holy spirit with Jesus and you don't pray to Eckhart. I think that is the main difference. Oh, and the fact that Jesus isn't on this earth and Eckhart is. Jesus is in the sky somewhere I "believe." I would be lying if I "Knew."

I am saying it doesn't make any sense saying "I am the truth, the life, and the way." What the heck does that mean? I read the Tao Te Ching and it is exactly the same as Jesus's teachings(without the dogma) and I read the Bhagadvad Gita which is the same as Jesus's teachings but way more in depth. Now, that would only mean "ONE" thing than, "praying" to Jesus would be the way.

How could "he" be the only way when the other teachings point to the same thing? Unless the dying on the cross really did happen, he rose from the dead, and he is living and you are supposed to have a "relationship" with him, which I would assume means to follow his teachings.

@ralphzoontjens Enlightenment does not disagree with peoples religious backgrounds. You can be enlightened and still be a Christian, Hindu, Muslim, etc. Its just you will interpret it in terms of the religion you follow.
If you really want to help people who are very religious expose them to the texts in their religion that point in the right direction. For resisting Christians tell them to look up books by St. Teresa of Avila, or look at the book ‘The Cloud of Unknowing’ or Fr. Thomas Keating.

One of my biggest questions is how you can bring this awareness to Christians, who still make up for most of the US population. I experience Christians to be very attached to their knowledge of the Bible, and if you try to tell them something else or something more, there is usually a lot of resistance to this. They are not open to the Gospel of Thomas, since mentioning that God is within is inherently a sacrilege to them. Any thoughts?

"I´ll tell you what the world wants..." :D Jim Carrey has always made me laugh and if he would stand in front of me I would like to thank him for that. Making people laugh is much more difficult than making people cry.
And if I could say now what the world wants... : More laughter. To hear children laughing, girls giggling... Jim Carrey is definately helping that, he has the talent of making many people laugh and that is one of the greatest gifts of all.
