  • Paula Abdul is an OUTSTANDING PERFORMER!!! PERIOD!!!!

  • this is so timeless! she is sexy,

  • Did she know Simon back then?

  • I feel like I've seen this before! It's almost the same as Janet Jackson's Control! I don't know whos the copycat here - probably Janet! Anyway I love them both!

  • @MissMichaelaJackson no..........they both had the same show dancer. but i know they both came up with there own dances lol.

  • LOL The guy looks like a total nerd but... He's a hawt nerd!

I love this music video! She's an amazing dancer. :)

  • This was actually directed by none other than David Fincher, made famous later by directing films like Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

  • I miss the 80's & early 90's so much, Great times, music, movies, TV. Today stuff can't even begin to compare! Paula rules!

  • may these fashion faux pas never return

  • @lifeisart37

    lol...agreed

  • Love her so gonna miss her on Idol ! (: ♥

  • I miss the 80s . Those were great times. Paula ruled the charts, television, she is an icon..

  • I love this song and love watching her dance. U don't see this type of dance these days. she may not be the best singer but she has a package. She's like the 90's version of Kylie Minogue or Britney Spears. They don't have the greatest voice but they can entertain.

  • i luv her soo much she is so amazing

  • THE SECOND VERSION IS MUCH BETTER !!

  • paula is the one who choreographed janet.

  • paula abdul is the choreographer for janet jackson.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Janet lol

  • 0:58-love it!!!

  • Paula Abdul is Absolutely amazing! She can do anything. And in the video the danceing is HOTT! I like the beginning when the are all together! I love that!

It was total 80's like the hair and clothes.

    GO PAULA!!

  • Paula is SUCH a good singer!!

    Love u!!

    xoxo

  • I remember seeing this version on BET back in 1988. The second version was played on MTV.

  • Ha Ha, they need to play this on 106 and Park, im so sick and tired of Beyonce/ Rihanna

  • I still see two different versions of videos today. Why do they do that?

  • I guess one video was done before she was famous, and the second after.

  • Yeah she is an amazing dancer. I wish should we do more videos

  • Get it Paula, LOL. I love female dancers, they don't be playing. I use to dance my ass off to this song back in the day.

  • Wow Paula could be very well be the greatest female dancer of all time. Seriously she can tear that dance floor up. Very on point and her moves are aggressive yet sexy as hell at the same time. The way she moves with the song it's just all great stuff. Huge talent. Her voice is distinctive and it's hers. Not great, but she's makes it work very well for her style of music. I think she was awesome during this time.

  • this is one of my faves

    peace out peeps

    PAULA ROX!

  • paula sings and dances good... doesn't she? =)

  • I love the way she split acts of the tap dancers to match the beat.

  • I'm glad there are still lots of folks out there who admire her and don't trash her every chance they get. She really IS talented.....not many can put on a show with singing AND incredible dance like she does. And yes, she is a beautiful person...I had the chance to meet her also....you'd never know she was a celebrity.....as down to earth and sweet as can be.....

  • Paula Abdul is one of the greatest performers of all time and I can say I met her in person!!!!

  • She's not the greatest singer, but she is a great entertainer. And those songs are iconic of the 90s. Fun times! Thanks for posting!

  • When she re-release this song in 1989 it was #3 on pop chart, #10 on R&B chart, and #18 on dance.

  • Paula yes she can dance but who says she could SING????Thank GOD She dose not sing no mre Coz she sucks at singing BIG TIME!Paula I like you but Stick with your dancing.Your a better DANCER,BUT YOU SUCK AT SINGING.

  • What r u talking about? Paula sings amazing! You should go to the wacky shack if u think she can't sing

  • yeah baby ! hahh

  • yes what r u talking about ? .....

  • People seem to like to bust on Paula...She's an INCREDIBLE dancer...people don't realize the other stars she's choreographed......Paula set the standard for dance videos....

  • thank you someone actually agrees with me! all power to ya

  • lo, i agree 2

  • and I agree 2 !!!

  • @jrcna32466 Agreed...she was the one who choreographed a lot of Janet Jackson's signature moves ♥♥

  • Was that paula although face edited out in the love scenes near the end of the video.

  • Go paula!!!

    she is an AMAZING dancer.

    Love this video.

    This song is cool =]

  • This is the queen of dancing...Who even taught Janet to dance!!!...Who ya'll think who could dance better Paula Abdul or Janet Jackson?..Im sorry but Im gonna have to say Paula Abdul because but Janet's my girl too...I love both of em'...Love ya'll !!

  • Paula choreographed for janet so Paula kinda tought janet lol they both r awesome at dancing :D

  • PAULA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 :D

  • This is the best video version. Love it.

  • she's such a good dancer

  • THANK YOU!! I FINALY FOUND THIS! when i was 3 or 4 my dad showed me this but it got stolen:( thank u so much! i <3 this!!

  • love how she rolls her expressive eyes!

  • I find her image boring. But, she seems like a very decent person and a total inspiration as a dancer. The lady can move!

    Go Paula!:-)

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the 80's were awful.. yet somehow so good.. like this song. terrible lyrics, hair, clothes, music.. but yet i like it so much!

  • shes a great dancer...but odd lyrics...and hair

  • dope lyrics yo!

  • she reminds me of gypsey rose lee...a striper that retired to chinese crested breeding(a beautiful harless dog).

  • Luved this whole cd... grew up on her and the 80's/early 90's madonna. timeless :)

  • It's a shame that todays teens don't even have a clue who Paula Abdul is, except the woman on "IDOL"......too bad they weren't around in the day she was doing all that awesome footwork!!!

  • i am a huge fan of american idol

i am only 14 years old and a few months agaoy i found out that she used to be a huge pop star... too bad i wasnt born during the late 80s but i still love paula abdul!!! she rox!!!!

  • im 15 and im her biggest fan. im also way ahead of my time, but thats beside the point.haha. i knew who she was before idol, the reason i started watching idol is because i heard she was on it. She is my HERO and my inspiration , and her role as an incredible performer plays a huge role in that. and i know other teen fans who feel the same. so teens do have a clue. just thought id letcha know!

  • That is awesome! I was way ahead of my time too when I was your age. I'm 23 now, but was also into music and stuff that someone twice my age would have grown up with..HA, all my teachers in school thought I was cool and all my friends thought I was a weirdo! Oh well, builds character. Kudos to you for being yourself. I love Paula, grew up with her music!

  • haha. thats how it is with me! NONE of my friends like paula. and you right, it builds character!

  • Funny thing....todays teens only know Paula from "Idol"....I wish they were around to see where she started and what a fantastic dancer she was (is)....I heard she's out with some new stuff.....can't wait!!!

  • this song is for my song i love the song!

  • i'll always respect Ms. Abdul for her true talent , style ! . . . i look forward to her future project's , thank you Ma'am !

  • i love paula's tap dancing in this video. to be today's music can't top songs like this

  • This was where JLo got her idea for "Love don't cost a thing"...hehehe!

  • did she paula stick the middle finger at us in the video? 0_0?!?!

  • LOve when she dance TAP...WOW WOW WOW

  • The reason Paula had the animated cat on the video was to pay tribute to Gene Kelly. Gene Kelly danced with animated Jerry the mouse from Tom and Jerry cartoon. You know Paula loved to pay tribute to great dancers and choreographers. although I know alot of people thought it was lame. I understood why she did it.

  • In my opinion, the song peaked at #88, because Paula Abdul wasn't very known until after "Straight Up."

  • Very good opinion there, really. I think the slight remix helped as well. i have never seen this particular video up until now. For the longest time MTV played the original LP mix video version.

  • They don't make em like this anymore. True Entertainers-with class and true to their art and craft-not spilling their personal lives into tabloid fodder thus seperating themselves as artists.

  • she has powerful legsssss

  • Paula Abdul rocked it in the 80s!!!

  • True! However I never understood why they added that lame-ass animated cat to her videos with that gawd-awful rap.

  • I prefer the version with MC Skat Cat. I never listen to the album one.

  • yeah that's the one! It was lame, Paula really didn't need any 'add-ons' to her vids, she was great on her own.

  • "It aint your 90 foot -pause- Yacht." Classic. :)

  • Janet Jackson is a rip off of Paula Abdul!!!!

  • Um, I love Paula as well but Janet was around first and Paula was her choreographer, so how can Janet be ripping off Paula?

  • Well first off every time paula came up with new moves janet all of the sudden had the same moves and by (moves)i mean dance steps for those who dont under stand!

  • That If video is a copycat of cold hearted. So true. HAHAHHA just like Beyonce is ripping off Shakira.

  • um, as far as i know, paula used to be janet's choreographer before she became famous as an artist herself

  • Thanks for posting. I'd rather see her dancing her videos.

  • You need glasses!! she is dancing

  • No offense. She had several videos where no dancing was involved. She would just sing.

  • There are 2 videos for "The Way that You Love Me." This was the first one, released in late 1988 before "Straight Up" made her a superstar! After that and "Forever Your Girl" and "Cold Hearted" went to Number 1, they re-released "The Way that You Love Me", which is the one where she looks very stylish, no dancing, etc. Then the song shot up to Number 3, before "Opposites Attract" went to Number 1 again after it!

  • thanks for having my back :). I remember she also had a song called "knocked out" that came out before "straight up".

  • omg i love it wen they do the tap dansing

    fantastic

  • This song and album was written and produced by L.A. Reid and Kenny "Babyface" Edmunds with help from their former group The Deele. Its Paula's voice but the creation is all those guys.

  • Not true.

Oliver Leiber produced this song, and LaFace only wrote/produced KNOCKED OUT on the album.

  • Yes, and he also wrote/produced Forever Your Girl and Opposites Attract. Elliot Wolfe did Straight Up and Cold Hearted

  • Okay. Thanks for making the correction. I thought the entire album was LaFace. My Bad.

  • Oops

  • She is AWESOME!! Brittany or any other pop-slut today can't even hold a candle to Paula Abdul!!!

  • i luv it thanks ive been lookin for it

  • OMG!!!!LOVE IT!
