wow i just started looking at some speedskating videos and the only time i saw shani lose was against ohno in the 1000 short track. ohno made it look easy though. is ohno that good or was shani just not as good back then? sorry im kinda new

This is long track speed skating, if you want to be King among skaters, this is where you need to compete. Short track is a joke compared to speed skating, just like Ono would be a complete laugh on a ring like this.

I know what you mean. I head a lot of hype about hono because of the lympics and i heard shani was another good american skater through watching ohno and ohno beat shani fairly easily in short track. short track seemed like it wasn't really how fast you were, just how well you could pass and keep from being disqualified

Well he did win the tournament, just not this distance. And he's lost more 1500 meters before. His preferred distances are the 5000 and 10000 meters and he hasn't lost on those distances for quite a while now.

His 1500 are maybe not his best but still good, in the European all-round this year he finished second on the 1500, right after Fabris.

Of course every distance has its kings and Davis and Fabris are just generally better on this distance. No shame in that. they're all amazing skaters.
