For example, we all know Metallica is HUGE and no one rips on them (well, except for St. Anger and Lulu), same with RHCP. A think a good theory on why people hate Nickelback and Creed are the same reasons people hate Justin Beiber: They're all the epitome of mainstream music of their genres. They have fans because they are an amazing band, Chad's voice is ridiculously hot. Really!! Really!! Have you seen Nickelback live? I've been going to concerts for almost 25 years and they put on the best show I have EVER seen. Songs have meaning and cover a wide spectrum from love songs to hard, heavy rock. Chad Kroeger has a great voice and his song writing ability is crazy. All the haters need to shut up - you're just jealous!!

1. It's cool to hate them. It gives some people a sense of musical elitism.
2. Their own popularity killed the general love for them. Think back to 2001-2003. Everybody seemed to love them, with Silver Side Up being their springboard to being played incessantly. Rockstar and Photograph were so overplayed that any love for them was lost.
3. They strayed from having decent material to completely generic. The "inspirational" songs are rarely good.

I used to like Nickelback when I was younger. I admit that. The big reason I liked them was because I could relate to songs like "Someday," or "Too Bad." I listened to them for the lyrics. But as I got older, it didn't relate to me anymore, so I stopped listening to them and got into Metallica, Megadeth, and Avenged Sevenfold. Fucking heavy stuff like that. Since then, I've heard songs on the radio that Nickelback have put out, and to me, they sound like pure shit. I absolutely hate Nickelback.

Here's a theory I've found with shitty rock music over the years. U2 started as a great band with a lot of great potential, that went completely to the wasteside around the 90's, then they took a giant shit and Creed came out of it. They wrote some great instrumental stuff and the lyrics were fairly inspiring IMO, but then after they broke up, they took a shit and Nickelback came to be and started killing what was once known as hard rock music. Nickelback is a disease and needs to just go away!!

I now recognise Nickelback as a terrible, commercial, primitive, terrible grunge imitating band, however, I first got into music in the early 00s when How You Remind me was everywhere and I liked it a lot. I hate them now but that song takes me back to primary school.

The "popular" music right now is fun to listen to, but clearly cannot be compared to the classics and can in no way be criticized in the same way. If you can't figure out why Nickelback (and any other mainstream musician, really) has fans, you aren't too bright. They write catchy, easily digestible three-minute pop tunes. Most people don't take music too seriously, and for this reason, these kinds of songs are what they eat up.

However, I can't really say that I can name one single NB song. I never listen to commercial radio and get all of my music from streaming sources, so really this is a non-issue for me.

I put it down to laws of averages. There are something stupid like 7 billion or so people on the planet. To be honest I have no idea why Nickelback has so much hate? They are not the only crappy band out there. Now I like their older albums I think each album had a few really good songs. Really!! Really!! Have you seen Nickelback live? I've been going to concerts for almost 25 years and they put on the best show I have EVER seen. Songs have meaning and cover a wide spectrum from love songs to hard, heavy rock. Chad Kroeger has a great voice and his song writing ability is crazy. All the haters need to shut up - you're just jealous!!

Nickelback is hated for a few reasons.
1. It's cool to hate them. It gives some people a sense of musical elitism.
2. Their own popularity killed the general love for them. Think back to 2001-2003. Everybody seemed to love them, with Silver Side Up being their springboard to being played incessantly. Rockstar and Photograph were so overplayed that any love for them was lost.
3. They strayed from having decent material to completely generic. The "inspirational" songs are rarely good.

I can't understand why people hate this band so much. They've become quite successful with a slew of radio hits in a time where rock bands are not as popular as they use to be (Take a peek at the billboard charts!). The fact that a group of people don't want them to play at a football game is stupid. Then again it's in Detroit and Detroit is a major amercian music city. They take their shit serious there. I used to like Nickelback when I was younger. I admit that. The big reason I liked them was because I could relate to songs like "Someday," or "Too Bad." I listened to them for the lyrics. But as I got older, it didn't relate to me anymore, so I stopped listening to them and got into Metallica, Megadeth, and Avenged Sevenfold. Fucking heavy stuff like that. Since then, I've heard songs on the radio that Nickelback have put out, and to me, they sound like pure shit. I absolutely hate Nickelback.

you make a good point about how all their songs sound the same but, (for arguments sake, cause i'm not a NickelBack fan either) all those same things apply to AC/DC as well. Cause let's face it, ever since Bon Scott died and Brian Johnson took over all their songs have been about "rockin" and partying and girls etc... Most if not all of their songs sound the same but I can't think of one person who hates AC/DC. food for thought...

Here's a theory I've found with shitty rock music over the years. U2 started as a great band with a lot of great potential, that went completely to the wasteside around the 90's, then they took a giant shit and Creed came out of it. They wrote some great instrumental stuff and the lyrics were fairly inspiring IMO, but then after they broke up, they took a shit and Nickelback came to be and started killing what was once known as hard rock music. Nickelback is a disease and needs to just go away!!

It's call bubble-gum pop for a reason. It's fun to chew, but you don't swallow it. The "popular" music right now is fun to listen to, but clearly cannot be compared to the classics and can in no way be criticized in the same way. Gaga is a show piece, Nickelback is fun to jog around the block to. But it would be a waste of time to dissect either of these artist's work, as it is very shallow.

Coldplay definitely has some songwriting talent, people only hate on them because they're popular. Nickelback does not, I have no clue why they're popular at all. I think they just cater to the built-in audience of people who don't know shit about music and can't find better things for themselves, so they settle for what they can get with the radio.

If you can't figure out why Nickelback (and any other mainstream musician, really) has fans, you aren't too bright. They write catchy, easily digestible three-minute pop tunes. Most people don't take music too seriously, and for this reason, these kinds of songs are what they eat up.

However, I can't really say that I can name one single NB song. I never listen to commercial radio and get all of my music from streaming sources, so really this is a non-issue for me.

I don't understand how people can continuously bash this band. I can absolutely say that I'm not a fan, but that's because of my personal musical tastes. If another person just happens to have interest in that kind of music, then so be it. People just need to grow the fuck up and let people be themselves. I put it down to laws of averages. There are something stupid like 7 billion or so people on the planet. I GUARENTEE that if someone even as musically untalented as myself (I cannot carry a tune) released or attempted to start doing music, If i tried hard enough, and had the cash to eventually put an album out, I could get a fan base. Why? Cause with that many people, law of averages dictates SOME of em are gonna like it. No matter how bad, or generic, or just plain terrible it is.
