  • how do you do the dash lights like that i wannna do the same in my 98 mustang

  • don't matter what ya call it it's still a Ford Taurus.

  • couldn't you have found a better place to do that at.

  • Where did you get the gauges from?

  • The dash in my car... lol

  • Drove one of these cars at work the other day and the tranny was shot...but it had some nice exhaust on it...Freakin loud

  • wanna sell you car dude

  • Ha. Check my latest videos.

  • LOL. The third generation Taurus SHO was less than 50lbs heavier than the '89-'91 MTX's. The thrid gen still has a better power/weight ratio.

  • funny thing ... mine is the exact same lol ... but mine doesn't have any missfires ... wish i had those gauges thow ... mine are green =(

  • If anyone needs an IMRC I've gots one!

  • Any of you guys have rough idle when cold? My SHO has given me a number of problems, A/c siezed up, Hoses blew and it overheated., Cooling bottle leaked, Coil packs went out, IMRC went out, TCC lockup solenoid went out, Developed oil leaks, Rough idle when cooling fans running, Slight bottom end bearing noise when hot, ALl with only 125k And not abuse. I got a lemon I guess, Still have it and still runs. I am going to drive it into the ground.

  • i love how people are bashing on how slow it is, but they weren't smart enough to read the more info section.

My secondaries have Some issues opening some times, and you can tell the difference for sure.

Once all that is fixed, it will accelerate twice as fast, and will make most people shit their pants on how they do on the freeway!!!

My SHO has flowmasters with 3rd cat delete and has a nice low pitch rumble...

  • My taurus 3.0 v6 is faster

  • Wanna find out?

  • no it is. Nothing on your cars cause i think its cool. But mine is faster.

  • No, seriously. This video was taken the week after I got the thing, and if you READ THE DESCRIPTION, you would see that it is no longer running like that anymore.

  • Yea sure but take away that 5spd and its nothing but a V6 sedan.... Why dont you take on a 5spd V8 and see what happens

  • When was the last time you heard a V8? Have you forgotten what it sounds like?? It sounds like that. And it's a FOUR speed auto (something that really kills me).

So I have a regular 4 speed auto V8 sedan that frequently kills V6's and quite a few V8's.

  • WTF....i was dissin on the V6's i own a v8 SHO im saying there faster......

  • If you put the same driver, meaning no variable for driving, in a v6 and v8 SHO and race them, the v6 will win. V8s are slow, heavy, and can't compete with a v6.

  • If both cars were completely stock and the V6 was an MTX, the V6 would be off the line faster, but the V8 would pull forward in the end of the 1/4 mile and win.

  • Yeah...I think you have too much confidence in the V8 SHO. It definitely would not pull forward in a quarter mile run.

  • Yes, it would. I see it ALL the time.

  • lol I beat my 1989 mustang GT 5spd in a rolling start........

  • V8 is actually lighter by few pounds. Its the auto trans that making it sooo slow.

  • I agree because the mtx can raise the rpms up and get a good jump with the secondaries would be open the whole way down but the V8 must open the secondaries the real way and ride them out......

  • lol you make me laugh.....the v8 have more power then the v6's its like saying a V12 cant keep up with the V10 cause it weighs more....hahahaha Put a 5spd in the V8 SHO and then see how wins!

  • sounds like daddy's boy thinks he can keep up wit ur sho. if he can, then i know he wouldn't stand a chance against the stang i used to have. 1986 mustang gt ex-police interceptor. cams, headwork, full exhaust. 378hp at the wheels. wish still had it. rainy night plus corner equals dead stang though.

  • Hey all, car is due back in Louiville on Saturday with a NEW ENGINE!!!! Not really a NEW engine, but LIKE new. New seals, new everything pretty much. Problem is, I gotta baby it for 2000 miles while the crank seals break themselves in...

  • im not trying to diss your car cuz i like all SHOs, but thats kinda slow.

i see your looking into a gen 2 SHO on some of your other vids. but my advice, since i own both a gen2 SHO and a Foxbody 5.0, would be to get something like a 5.0, cobra, ls1 trans am or something like that. unless of course you really like sho's. but FR with a 5 speed is a lot more fun.

  • I don't like SHO's I LOVE SHO's!!!! Anyway, it would appear that I really do need to rename all my videos. This was taken about a week after I got it last August when everything was fucked up. At the time, my '98 Mazda Protege was faster to 60 than this, but after quite a bit of catch-up maintenance, I got it more or less up to the stock figure. Now that I'm getting the new engine, it should be right where it needs to be power wise.

  • do they make new 3.4's that you can buy, or do you have to find a used one? anyways you may want to get the cams welded if its a 3.4 sho v8.

  • Gotta find a used one. If you want a good rebuilt one, expect to pay upwards of $2000. I was lucky enough to be able to pull one out of a totalled SHO for about $750. Hopefully the cams are already welded, but if not, I can take care of that.

  • How do you go about changing the spark plugs? I have oil all around mine when I pull out the coil pack on my '96 SHO. I want to change them, but I'm mildly afraid to pull them out and let oil in the cylinder and foul out my plugs right away. Any suggestions?

  • Maybe your O rings are bad. There are O rings that prevent oil from seaping out of the cam case into the spark plug socket, so if you're getting oil everywhere when you pull your coils, it's probably a good guess that you need new O rings.

  • what do they put to the wheel stock?

  • hey i have been looking in to this a little and i was wondering is it a V8 becasue the earlier ones were V6 and is it front or rear wheel drive? thanks

  • 1989-1995 were V6, 1996-1999 were V8, and they were not as quick as the V6. All Tauri are front wheel drive, except for the latest ones, which are offered with AWD.

  • oh thanks again

  • are these gages factory?

  • Nope, but I can't help you if you're looking for them. I've been looking too, in case I buy another gen III. I've had no luck.

  • my 95 sho would stomp on you

  • I'm sure it would.

  • Mine seems to go a whole hell of a lot faster than this one. My tach hits 6750rpms in about 2 seconds less. Better get yours fixed dude.

  • Just a question, i was wondering if theres some ECU upgrade for a V8 SHO?

  • Yes, actually. The best chip you can get is an SCT3 with a custom tune done by either Doug Lewis at FPS in Atlanta or Paul Nimz. I heard that the Doug Lewis tune is good for somewhere around 250 HP, but that's only what I've heard...

  • it looks like it has potentiol, but it not too fast atm, but i like them so im not going to down your car man, i dont have one so cant really talk shit bout it unless i have owned one myself lol

  • Don't worry about it, once you fix the problems it'll be way faster than an olsmobile aurora or an 80's corolla

  • I got a 97 SHO and granted it has all the bolt ons you can get including a 3 stage chip, ported runners with open cone filter, welded cams, resonator and 3rd cat deleted, elec cut-out, hi-po coils, flowmasters, plus a ZEX 75 HP dry shot of the laughing gas, but it is twice as fast as that SHO. That SHO was sick slow. Brakes? I've had mine up around 145mph and it slowed admirably. I just keep mine for the shock and awe factor and they are rare. Mine loves dining on GT Stangs.

  • Have you ever heard of misfires? Broken secondary wires? Clogged fuel filters?? OIL LEAKS?? That's all this ^ SHO, I guarantee you when I get a new engine it will not be so slow.

  • If you are going to get another SHO engine the best place to get one is Ford Performance Specialists in Atlanta Ga. They are the gurus of SHO's. Be prepared to shell out about $4000.00 for a good used, rod bearings replaced, welded cams engine if there are any available and prob 2 grand for install. They don't make these engines anymore but if you get a good used one they will last for 300,000+ miles of spirited driving if you change your oil every 5,000 with Mobil 1 syn or Amsoil syn 10W30.

  • nice

  • that ratio should be higher

    if it was WOT

  • that thing is slow my 1995 oldsmobile aurora would smoke ur crappy car

  • READ THE FUCKING COMMENTS DIPSHIT.

  • I noticed you only bash the SHO's when they have problems (such as this one). This car ran AT LEAST 3 seconds slower than it should. Your Aurora is crap. Stop telling everyone it is so great. You would get stomped by a Gen I or II SHO, and probably a III too. Hell, you would barely keep up with the 24V Taurus LX. BTW, you have an American engine which sucks, too.

  • dude auroras are the gay pussy looking cars. and they are even slower WITH the 4.0 motor than the sho's. i bet any sho without any problems like this one, would smoke your aurora. in fact, i had a 99 escort zx2 that smoked an aurora.

  • @imacarlover5127 ok man no escort would even put up a fight with an aurora... way to lie to us...lol

  • the new 2008 lancer can beat that

  • Actually, the lancer would probably just die at idle. I have a firend who used to have one, and it just randomly died...

  • ive smoked the new lancer. i have a 99 sho. the lancer was a stick, i smoked it off the line, in accel, AND top speed, so suck on that one lol

  • he was clearly not trying......

  • Golly, you were ripping down that street! lol, scooters beware!

  • my mom has ond my 81 corolla is faster. i know because i drive both cars regularly

  • Not possible. If you could READ you would know why.

  • no offense dude, but that was really bad acceleration. And I have a friend with an 80's corolla. i bet it would give you a run for your money.

  • You drive a Taraus regularly... If you'd an MTX SHO you wouldn't even bother posting. Next time call up the numbers. Telling us you're stupid would be quicker to the point. Stop wasting my time.

  • i think my old 96 vulcan 3.0 could beat that sho. like 11 secs to 60

  • It's completely fixed now (except for the IMRC), and all it took was a new fuel filter XD

  • i like ur dash. it's blue :)

  • Yeah... Problem is, I have no idea where the previous owner got it, so if I get another G3 I'll have to settle for the ugly stock green glow =P

  • if u get another SHO then you should get a 1st or 2nd gen. They're faster, especially if u can find one with a stick. but the 3rd gen SHOs arent bad.

  • I plan on getting a '94 or '95 MTX SHO sometime in the not-so-distant future. It would be blue with a tan interior... Just gotta find one!

  • They can be a bitch to find but they are worth it. I saw an 89 with 99k for $995. Can you say gone?

  • slow

  • agree, my explorer 4.0 v6 SUV is faster

  • The alternator light might be telling ya your alternator is almost dead. Had to replace the unit in my 95 SE due to a blown berring, jets on all 6 now.

  • What where all the lights on the dashboard when you took off??? No offense man, but that wasn't very quick.

  • The light at takeoff was the brake light, turned out I was low on fluid and the inner right pad was going... Both fixed. The blinking light near the top at the shift point is apparently the alternator light, which has yet to be officially diagnosed. This video was taken before I figured out some of the basic issues and fixed them, such as the closed secondaries, cylinder #8 misfire, etc. My other videos show much better times. Still slower than they should be, but much better than this.

  • most likely dirty... do you change the intake filter regularly? try intake cleaner.. its not much but it will help

  • Intake filter? If you mean the air filter, then no, it's a cone AND it's dirty. I want to get a stock air box put in, but I can't find one anywhere.

  • oh you have the cone filter.. just keep it.. it helps alittle on the bottom end of the rpm torque band... but try intake cleaner.. but if you wanna put the stock airbox in check with your local junkyards... see a salvaged vehicle

  • no offence but my stock 02 explorer 4.0 is faster... somethings up with your car cuz those SHO's are fast as hell

  • I know... I got the codes pulled today and cylinder #8 is misfiring - bad coil. Also my IMRC butterflies are stuck open. I got a new coil today, and when I took the engine cover off, i noticed that cylinder #8 was also UNPLUGGED. lol I plugged it back in, but it still misfired, so now I have to put the new coil in.

  • dang that sucks... is the cable to the IMRC broken? or just stuck open? let us know what happenes

  • From what I could tell, everything is physically intact, but the box could be fried. Maybe the butterflies are just dirty, but who knows?

  • ass-bandit-bitchface(just kidding) lol loser.

  • look under the front plastic SHO cover youll see the box, with the cable, rev it up in P and you should see the end of the cable pull the butterflies. youll get it

  • 11 sec 0-60 lol i love it lol lol lol

  • I'm all for SHO's, but why the hell did it take 11 seconds to 60???

  • I am pretty sure his IMRC box is broken - his secondaries aren't opening up. When the secondary runners open on this engine, it makes a very distinctive sound...

  • So, how do I fix that?

  • replace the steel cable inside the IMRC box that is broken. It is what physically opens your secondaries.

  • i doubt its the secondaries cause he would not run 11 it would be more like a 15....its basically running on a V4 until those secondaries open

  • New engine now, WITH secondaries. That, and a K&N with exhaust, I'm running 7 flat 0-60.

  • what altitude you running at?

  • Just 535 feet, but keep in mind that this was the original engine that was beat to hell and probably had a couple cylinders with no compression, along with no secondaries and a clogged fuel filter.

  • o no i understand these SHO have power but a really fatass.lol how did your engine get that bad they usually are really though engines? And 7 secounds isnt bad its kinda of good only a few secounds off the europian muscle.lol

  • Actually, it's the V6 SHO's that are bulletproof. Let's use an example to compare the 2 engines.

I spun a bearing in my V8, drove it barely up the road, and it blew up. My mom spun a bearing in a V6 MTX, then drove it halfway around town before she parked it, and it NEVER DIED!!!!

  • howd you do the blue light mod?

  • You mean my gauges? They're pretty cool, but I got it that way. The tach light is sorta on and off intermittently now and I don't know how to fix it.

  • their really green orginally

  • I have aftermarket faces with custom lighting and a switch that toggles between green and blue.

  • what a junk box

  • slo? lol

  • ive been posting a lot of comments this hour and YouTube asked me to type a scrambled word to continue commenting. the word was sable. funny?

  • haha!!!
