  • @22bogota @lion95805 just pray for him. not our job to convert. it's the Holy Spirit's job to change hearts and unveil their eyes. I have done so, and so should you, as we must love.

  • @jmburkow No argument presented here will ever convince you. Reason: you are spiritually blinded. I won't be surprised if you retaliate against my message. That's cause you're not convinced. It's not us Christians' job to convince you. It's the Holy Spirit. Only those who have experienced him will feel His power. The rest who don't, do not fully understand or comprehend. Again, it's not our job to convince you. THUS, you are not convinced.

  • @terence469 What does it mean to be 'spiritually blinded'? And why would you expect me to 'retaliate' against your message? You haven't said anything except that we cannot communicate with one another, and I agree.

I require scientific proof, which you cannot provide. You seem to be okay believing in a myth of a divine dictator who demands that you love and fear him. I see that as politically dangerous and deeply illogical. For you, faith is enough; for me it is not necessary.

  • @jmburkow this short article will answer your question on what it means to be 'spiritually blinded'. bit.ly/spiritual-blindness

  • hallelujah..

  • Thank you Lord for Everything and for being a wonderful God.

  • Thank you Lord for all the Blessings that you gave me and I believed there is More :). Thank you Lord today I got the Grades that I deserved. Thank you Lord even for the worst things happened on me because I know all those things happened for a reason. No such thing is accident. There's countless reasons for why should give Thanks to you. I love you Lord!

  • It's only a matter of FAITH

  • I'm so thankful to our Lord Almighty God,,,,

for all the blessings He gave me......

  • We are in 2012, in good shape thank you LORD

  • @Giwaist It has nothing to do with a "Lord" you speak of. The dates do not change because of divine will.

  • when i am in trouble, i pray to God and the problem solves itself. whenever i went astray from God's word, like having random sex and mocking poor people, i would always get bad news. this i consider as a knock on the head to tell me i am doing wrong. but when i do according to His word, such as helping my family in trouble and donating to an orphanage, i am rewarded with good things.

i don't need proof of my God's existence, as my belief in God made me a better person. that is what matters. :)

  • @lion95805 Okay, what if I said... 'when I am in trouble, I pray to Apollo or Asclepius, (the Greek gods of healing) and the problem solves itself'? Would that be good enough evidence of the existence of Apollo and Asclepius, because that is as good as your argument gets.

  • @jmburkow that depends if you're telling the truth. i know i did.. what i said was a statement, not an argument, sir.. :)

  • @lion95805 I wasn't speaking for myself; I was speaking for the hundreds of thousands of believers of Vishnu, Apollo, and other imaginary gods who claim that these gods reward/punish them the way you claim your 'God' does. My point is, for these people Vishnu and Apollo are as real as 'God' is to you. They are telling the truth as much as you are - a subjective truth based on a collective imagination. If a community believes in something it becomes real to it.

  • @jmburkow i don't believe their gods are not real. i just believe my Lord is the Most High God.. you said "if a community believes in something it becomes real to it".. then what a beautiful thing faith is! to change people for the better.. :)

  • Comment removed

  • @lion95805 So if something false has good consequences it's a good thing? That's debatable.

And religion changes people for the better?!? Where has it done so? In the Balkans where Orthodox Serbs and Catholic Croats butchered each other? In Ireland where Catholics and Protestants do the same? In the Muslim-Hindu conflicts in India?

Its negative social consequences are much worse than its positive effects. At best it is a crutch that ‘helps’ some who lack faith in themselves.

  • @jmburkow You only point out what some people that called themselves belivers do on their own in the name of God or Jesus.Neither Jesus or his followers imposed christianity through violence, His teaching was "love your enemies, tell gentiles (non jews) that heaven is also for them". When self called Christians have descriminated, hated and killed they are acting in desobedience to Jesus teachings, and it's very clear in the Bible that there is going to be judgement for their acts too.

  • @jmburkow I'm sorry your poor intellect doesn't let you get the messages in the stories of the Bible:1)merchants in the temple -a righteous person does what is right, and that is what Jesus did, He threw out the merchants 'cause the temple was a sacred place for worship and fellowship, they were focusing on earthy things and the temple was not built for that. Would you peacefully let greedy people turn your home into a junk yard, a farmers market or a whorehouse?

  • @jmburkow 2)Your statement "The son of god (Jesus desires the violence on himself "-Again your poor intellect acting misses the message of the Cross- the crucifixion was a roman practice,He used that practice to SHOW US that there's punishment for sins but that HE HIMSELF PAID for our sins. So IF a) I believe that His blood is enough for the forgiveness of sins (selfishness, greed, envy, arrogance, etc.) and b) I repent of ALL sins and desire a new START, I have eternal life in heaven.

  • @jmburkow 3)entire cities smitten by God -Again, your poor intellect only sees the surface. Since God is righteous,He only does what's right, and He won't let evil get away with anything, unless there is repentance. And the message there is also for us.God is pacient & loving but He can't be fooled. He showed his love for me on the cross. I'm just greatful I'm not dying for ever, that I'm spending eternity with the Righteus One,where there's no pain, sickness, poverty, nvy, twisted minds, etc

  • @22bogota My poor intellect knows that there is a terrible depth beneath the surface. According to your own literature, your God murders, demands sacrifices, and generally acts in ways that if you and I did, we would be labelled mad and dangerous. In your eyes, however, you can attribute no wrong to this 'God.' He is for you perfect, even as a murderous tyrant. You simply say, he did a lot of good and so the 'bad' things must have a purpose that is beyond me, since I am zero/fallen etc

  • @jmburkow This God you call a tyrant, have done things in our church here in Brazil, you should know: cure cancer, heal the blind from birth, has cured addicts, every week . In ast week my partner suffered a motorcycle accident and this God you call a tyrant, told me in a dream three days before, so I pray for him and he is alive. The only way you can touch him is trought faith in Jesus. Why do not you talk to him? I'm sure he will reply to you ... try. I will be praying for you this morning.

  • @Flutedan Everything you say about 'God' has been said about 'Apollo,' 'Asclepius', 'Żywie', 'Febris', and 'Haoma'. Should I prey to them as well? I heard they can cure plagues, stings, and fever. Should I pray to all of them, some, or just one? What do you think. I was told they would reply to me as well... all I have to do is stop thinking too critically and 'just believe.'

  • @jmburkow hey friend. I'm from India, a place where many cultures and religion meet. We celebrate all festivals and came to the understanding that the so called 'God' was was just a formality. Every one had one, people were to afraid to die, so they pray to this or that guy. I went just for the heck of it and I was a child then and smart too. One day in a like 'Children's section pray silently' we were asked to pray, with a promise that the winner would get a prize. (continued)

  • @jmburkow continued... ok now while the others prayed hard in the room, I didnt believe so I sat there just closing my eyes. and then it was like a door before me, it just opened and this guy walks in, its Jesus of course. I was just shocked so I tried to open my eyes but couldnt. He came in and sat down near the door. that's it I opened my eyes and there i was in the same place. I never even know what a vision was at that moment.

  • @jmburkow what has religion changed for the better?? let me tell you one example, if it wasn't for religion, people of SE asia would never had united against the western colonists since religion was used as a tool of unity and nationalism.. because of religion, my country finally had independence.

you only say religion is bad because you only view the negative perspective.. take religion any way you want, but don't make rash conclusions. religion is good, it's the people who's corrupt..

  • in the old testament animal sacrifices were made to the lord because there is nothing else to sacrifice no one else wanna sacrifice others for them its killing there own brothers and sister which is also a sin but when jesus our lord who arrive he our lord make himself the sacrifice for our sins god created hell for all the demon the evil to remain there to be tormented and to be punished most of us believe to go to hell but if you just belive in jusus our saviour well we will be saved

  • @Mrrocketmale Yeah, sacrificing something - including oneself-born-as-one's-son - is a problem. Any religion which does not morally object to the idea of a sacrifice is too violent for me.

I don't want to be saved from God and his hell. First of all, there is not evidence for God or hell (and even the Pope said it was not a place). Second of all, even if it was real, the only place for a moral person in the universe of an immoral god, is in hell.

  • @jmburkow I hope you at least thought about what i said and have a good christmas. please don't argue on this video with other people because anywhere i look i see your username..

  • @jmburkow My parents are protestant but i didn't have to go to church with them i just wanted to. It was my decision and what i think of it. I don't find it creepy or anything like that.I love God and you can't change that. I believe that Jesus was crucified and died for our sins. I don't think it's right for little children to believe in 'fairies' and other 'magical' things.more. Go on 'godvine.com' This is a reallly good website! I will pray for you!.. :)

  • @ScratchandKlaudia Please don't pray for me; there is no evidence of a god. If you are resolute in your devotion to the irrational, then so be it, but don't make me a part of it. You are promoting submission to a divine dictator who claims to 'love' us even though he is a mass murderer who has killed almost everything on earth (Genesis 6, 8); ordered the Jews to kill all the Canaanites and Midianites (Numbers, Ch 21, 25); and demanded animal sacrifices (Leviticus Ch 1-9).

  • I thank you Lord for healing my sickness.....thank you Lord for the blessing you gave me..... thank you Lord for loving me and my family.... I just want to thank you Lord......in Jesus Name THANK YOU LORD.......

  • @jmburkow look even though you have a hard time believing God, I want you to know that even though your proclaiming that God does not exists.. He still loves you man!

He is just waiting 4 u to accept Him in your heart, He has a kingdom that He prepared 4 u

I'll pray 4 u until you accept God and i know one day you will become a servant of the Lord!

    God bless u!!!!

  • I am trully blessed with song

  • Thank you Lord, You are great, thank to accompany me in my tribulations. Don Moen you are a great worship leader, you bring light ,hope and trust in God in my life.

    Praise the Lord

    Lynda

  • @jmburkow Wake yourself up!!! you may not know GOD but He knows you.,.,.,., He knows your problem.,.,.,.He knows what inside of you GOD is awesome.....why you wouldn't give yourself to GOD

    He is waiting for you!!!

Thank you Lord for everything you've done to me

  • @jmburkow you are the one who are not making any sense, not me!!!

  • @tWiNxluvGOD you've really thought that answer out, haven't you. I don't think I can ever recover from your critique. I mean, it's brilliant!

If I can, however, attempt a response: religion is irrational. It has no evidence for its claims. It teaches us to subordinate ourselves to a divine ruler. It comes from pre-history.

    Live on this earth.

  • @jmburkow ok,.,,,., duh! ur good in any reason you know to say that God isnt real but faith is the reason why we believe in God! Theres no need a scientific explanation for that its between u and God only.

  • @jmburkow for example you say that you dont believe in God bcuz its only an imagination and we cant see Him.,.,.what about our brain we cant see our brain but why do we believe that we have brain.,.,so your talking about seeing is believing....with all due respect, we dont have brain,,, so all of your what so ever comments are not true! its only a matter of faith!

  • @tWiNxluvGOD You can't be serious?!? This is why I wonder why I even bother talking to religious people. I think if you could reason with religious people there would be no religious people.

We can't see "our brain"?!? You do know that we can demonstrate its existence, right? Have you heard of neurosurgery? It's a medical practice.

The bottom line is, we have empirical evidence for the brain, and rational proofs of the mind, whereas we lack both for what you call 'God.'

  • @jmburkow so your questioning me about the existing of God and do you know that all our proof is actually true.,.., i know that we believe in God and He does good thing to me.,.,.,you are just insisting that there is no God, I never thought your so dumb like that

dont bother replying a comment because you are so stupid like some atheist!!!!!

  • @tWiNxluvGOD I think you don't want me to reply, because it makes you look bad.

What proof do you have? You realize that no one doubts the existence of volcanoes, snowflakes, and water molecules because we have empirical evidence of these things. That is why you don't need to have faith in them; you only need faith in things which lack empirical proof (i.e. God, the Angels, afterlife, rapture, etc).

    Go ahead, prove me wrong.

  • @jmburkow Its up to you if you believe what we have said.,.,but i know one day you will regret all you said bad things about God,.

  • @tWiNxluvGOD there you go threatening me again in that typical passive-aggressive Christian way: 'love me (read: obey men) or else.'

  • @jmburkow I don't think it is a threat, it idefinitely is a WARNING!!!!. God wants you to be aware of Him, He warns us about what happens when we decide to live without Him. But it is your choice to ignore Him, the Almighty God give us choices and there are consecuences for believing and not believing. I know what my consecuences are right now and what will be in the future.

  • Comment removed

  • @22bogota So there is an almighty spiritual being called 'God' who demands total submission, and if I fail to acknowledge him or his son who died for sins I had nothing to do with, I will perish in a hell which he created... And all of this is not a threat, but a 'warning'?!? Hmmm... you sound like someone who believes the dictator is a good one.

  • @jmburkow Why are you so afraid to submit God?What do you have to loose?Just give Him a try. A dictator does not love you personally, would not give his life for you, would not invite you to eat with Him. But God is offering that and much more to whoever wants to be with HIM. He does not send people to hell, we send ourselves to hell, We choose for ourselves. He gives us His word (Bible), He gives us preachers, Bible teachers, sermons, etc to direct us towards HIMSELF, but we choose.

  • @22bogota The question is not why I do not wish to submit to an imaginary 'holy' dictator who demands human sacrifices (Leviticus 1:3); says women are second class citizens (Leviticus 12:5); and promotes war (Exodus 15:3), but why you despite all of this insist on submitting to such a cruel, sadistic two-faced ruler? Given his violence the choice you speak of is a false choice. It's like saying North Koreans have a 'choice' of going or not going to labor camps.

  • @jmburkow You quote some verses of the old Testament.Have your read all the New Testament? Jesus says LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, why don't you quote that and all the other wonderfull things He offeres humanity. God demanded animal sacrifices for sins so we can discover that nothing can really clean our sins, that is why He came to earth to give HIS life for us, to pay for our sins, He voluntarily did it for us, He is the perfect sacrifice, now there is NO need to sacrifice any more.

  • @22bogota Yes, I "quote some verses" as you say. What is wrong with examining the old testament? 2 Tim.3 16 says,"all scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching." If you want to ignore the fact that your God is a murderous tyrant who demands sacrifices, slavery, and patriarchy then please, just focus on the nice stuff in the New Testament, but it does not replace what he has done and what he wanted us to do in the past. God is a dictator who you love and fear.

  • @jmburkow Do you know how God treated Hagar, HE blessed her, she was a woman and a slave. Do you know that Rahab being a prostitue and a gentle was included in Jesus geneology? How about Ruth, another gentled blessed by the Lord and included as part of His people. Jesus treated with compassion and love the Samaritan woman, even though 1)Jews did not associate with Samaritans 2)she also was an adulterous (despised and rejected). Nevertheless He invited her to have eternal life.

  • @22bogota All of the nice things that this heavenly dictator did, do not erase his immoral acts. You can't disprove the fact that your God demanded murder, slavery, and sexist oppression by showing examples where he "blessed" a woman slave. If I enslave and murder, and also show on occasion good behavior to my victims, does this make me okay?

The 'invitation' to eternal life is an invitation to worship the eternal dictator. There is no escaping your system. Love me or go to hell.

  • What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy. Romans 9:14-18

  • @22bogota What a terrible argument. You are essentially saying, 'God is just because God says so.' Well, Stalin and Kim Jong-Il also said they were the embodiment of justice and that they had to do what they had to do.

I think you have effectively disarmed your ability to think critically about God. You are truly blessed and blind. I don't think I could convince you otherwise, no matter what evidence I had.

  • @jmburkow YOU say what a terrible argument, but you know, those are not my words or thoughts, I am quoting the Bible. And YOU HAVE NO EVIDENCE that God does not exist. Believers do have evidence, you can see they are happy no matter what, they are loving, and kind, have beautiful families despise what issues they face. They sleep well at night because their future is secured eternally.

  • @22bogota Your argument is terrible because it's circular: The bible is the voice of god. How do you know? Because the bible says so. Why do you believe the bible? Because it is infallible. How do you know? Because it is the voice of God... etc. etc.

Just because people find security in giving up their freedom does not mean that 'God' is just; only that believing in a heavenly dictator gives comfort to some. The same could be said for Zeus and Vishnu. Comfort is not evidence of God.

  • @22bogota Just like you have no evidence that fairies and unicorns do not exist. You are right that I have no evidence of the non-existence of 'god', but the onus to demonstrate the existence of 'God' is on you, not me. You are making the extraordinary claim that 'God' exists, and such a claim requires evidence. I am simply saying, so far the evidence is not good. There is no reason to believe. Also, I think belief in boss-figures is dangerous to morality, dignity, and human freedom.

  • Millions of true Jesus' followers give testimony of God's revellation to them. No one can't deny the miracles and life changes experienced by Christians. I personally have been healed twice.Since our bodies are perishable He didn't have to heal me, but He did it for compassion and probably to confirm His existance to me 'cause in one of those times I was doubting His existance, I humbled myself in prayer and asked Him to heal me if He was real. In both times I was healed immediately

  • @22bogota Sorry, but you personal account is not scientific. We deceive ourselves all the time. We believe what we want to believe, or perhaps what we have to believe to get through the day. Your interpretation proves nothing. It's anecdotal evidence -- which means, biased and subjective.

In a similar way, ancient Greeks said the same thing as you, but they thanked Apollo. Should we think that Apollo is real because they thought that they experienced his divine love and healing?

  • @jmburkow There's no record in ancient books of miracles performed by Apollos, Zeus, Hermes, Artemis,Pomona, Horus, Osiris, etc., I think that's why no one believes in them any more. In contrast, there are miracles recorded in the Old & New Testament, and hundreds of witnesses wrote these books. Until now no one has proven them false.

  • Comment removed

  • @jmburkow And the list of witnesses is getting larger, that's why there are more Christians today than ever before. It's not that people immediately believe in Jesus, it's because they experience this truth. I'm sorry nature, witnesses and the Bible is not enough for you to believe in God. I pray you some day you come to realize that God loves you because He created you, and is waiting for you to consider Him the best alternative for your life. Bye and let God bless you.

  • @22bogota Just because many people believe in something does not make it true. Truth is not democratic the way you describe it. Every religion started out as a cult - a small group believed in some divine presence. This group grew into a religion. By that definition all of them are correct.

How does nature explain what you call 'God'? I hope (I don't pray) that one day you will realize how unsubstantiated your belief in God is. God is a man-made social fiction.

  • @jmburkow Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use? Romanns 9:14 If you have read all the Old Testament & all the NEW TESTAMENT you would not be arguing about God's standards for the Israelites before CHRIST came. On the other hand God expected the Israelites to show mercy and love. Check out how Jesus treated the adulterous woman that was about to be stoned. Also check how He treated Magdalene.

  • @22bogota No, the potter does not have a right to use clay for "special purposes" when clay = human beings and "special purposes" = sacrifices, slavery, murder. Sorry, not morally acceptable if you value human life.

Jesus hadn't the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. And besides, the New Testament contains plenty of violence/cruelty. Jesus is kind, but also wrathful. He condemns whole towns to fates worse than Sodom and Gomorrah for not liking his preaching.

  • @jmburkow He is the almighty, powerful creator, not us.Who is the boss in your home, do you let other people come and tell you what to do in your home. I'm sorry if you have been hurt in a way that it is hard for you to get rid of your disbelieve. It is hard to trust God and love Him if we have been hurt by people, and it harder to believe that an invisible God could love us and wants to take care of us. I chose to trust Him, and now I enjoy my live and have learned to love others.

  • @22bogota I enjoy my live and love others without God.

It's not that I don't trust 'God' per se; I don't have trust for 'Zeus', 'Odin', 'Kukulkan', 'Uzume', "Vishnu', 'Isis', or "Perun'. I don't feel anything for any god. I consider all religions to be dangerous fictions which stifle humanity in a moral and intellectual darkness. The belief in the divine is dangerous in the way it advocates an uncritical conservative acceptance of an all invasive, irrational system of authority

  • you don't enjoy your live being full of destrust, and your love for others depends on their performance towards you, and that is NOT REAL LOVE. Believing in God is NOT dangerous, talk to any true believer, he'll say how wonderful his life is, and when things don't go as expected, he knows God has something better for him. There is phisical evidence (nature) that God is real, andt the testimony of millions of Christians is another evidence of His existance.

  • @22bogota I enjoy my life because I enjoy not trusting authority figures. And my love for others doesn't depend on their performance. Not sure why you feel qualified to analyze me like this. And believing in God is dangerous as you have shown by your willingness to suspend critical judgment in order to bask in the warm glow of your faith. There is nothing that God could do that you would think is wrong. You just ignore the evidence of all the corrupt and immoral biblical injunctions.

  • @jmburkow God gave the Israelites moral, religious and sanitary standards to preserve the people. Do you also know that in ancient times slaves were servents, they were NOT treated as we know slaves were treated in America from the 1600's to 1800's. In Egypt Jews were mistreated, were given very little food and were forced to very hard labour. There are many verses in the Bible were God blesses gentile slaves. You think He is a tyrant because you don't like rules.

  • @22bogota Even if you are right, the distinction between servant and slave gives little comfort. Both are morally problematic, as are biblical injunctions to perform human and animal sacrifices, to avoid contact with menstruating women, and to put people to death for working on the Sabbath, or not being a virgin on your wedding day. I don't mind rules per se; I mind the irrational rules that justify killings, sexism, homophobia, intolerance, etc. If god was man you would say he is mad.

  • @jmburkow in Leviticus He is demanding animal sacrificies, not human, the only human sacrificed for sins was God Himself(Jesus), in Lev. 12:5 He is giving the women time to rest after giving birth, maybe when after having a girl the women need to rest some more. He made us, He knows what our bodies need, Of course He is a warrior, He fights for His people, He will destroy whoever wants to harm us spiritually and phisically, he defends His own like you would defend your love ones.

  • @22bogota You're wrong. God demands human sacrifices on numerous occasions. Moses is told to take "one soul of five hundred" of the captured prisoners, both human and animal "for an heave offering of the LORD" (Numbers 31:25-29). Also, God tells the Israelites to make slaves out of their neighbors and their families. And women are so lowly they don't even make good burnt offerings and are worth less then men as sacrifices (Leviticus 4:22-28). Your God is immoral, unjust, and cruel.

  • @jmburkow I'm not threatening you,,, I told you what is the truth and I have many many proof that God really exists i can tell you all about it but i know that you wouldn't believe me.Because you are full of scientific words. The scientists are smart they can explain whats that and whats this but the only problem they have that they cant explain is "faith". I said it before and i will say it again "its only a matter of FAITH".

  • @tWiNxluvGOD you have "many many proof"? That's very impressive. Name one.

And why should scientists explain 'faith'? If by 'faith' you mean the belief in things that one cannot sense, then of course psychologists have examined this. Also, sociologists have examined the social basis for religion, and guess what, religion and religious beliefs develop in relationship to the economy and social structure of society. But it sounds to me like 'faith' for you is permission to avoid logic

  • @jmburkow How long has neurosurgery been around?? people who lived 1500 years ago, 3000 years ago were NOT able to see the brain, but it has been there ALL the time. God decided to make Himself invisible to us, and it says it in the Bible "we live by FAITH not by SIGHT (2 Corinthians 5:7), your own thoughts are the only grounds to prove He does not exist, but the Bible says: "trust in the LORD with all your heart and LEAN NOT on your own understanding" Proverbs 3:5

  • @22bogota What do you think is a better basis for knowledge? Faith, which can be error, which is blind, and has not way of being confirmed, or the scientific method which asks us to be skeptical and to investigate our knowledge claims? You know, just because you feel something does not mean that it is real. But how could you validate this using faith? You couldn't.

Sorry, but I don't buy arguments based on biblical inerrancy. Why should I? It's only a book written by dubious men.

  • @jmburkow Why do you say the Bible is inerrant? Do you have solid proof of that? or is it iust your mind telling you that......"LEAN NOT on your own understanding" Proverbs 3:5. When you let God be known to you personally, you will feel HIS presence, you will be aware of what He is doing for humanity. I have experienced this wonderful almighty God in my life and in my family's. I wish you stop being rebellious, so you can start to feel God's love for you.

  • @22bogota I do not say that the bible is inerrant; I say that you say so because you treat it as an accurate source of truth. I imagine that what you really mean is, 'do we have solid proof that the Bible lies.' If that is your question, then my response is that the burden of proof is on you. You are making outlandish claims about a divine lord who punishes and rewards. Where is your evidence? The bible? Why should we trust it?
