I heard it was mostly a street bike not a true dual sport like the V-Strom. I say this as a big Kawi fan, but it's basically a Ninja 650R.

If you look at Kawasaki's UK website you can see that the Ninja 650R is a ER6-F and Versys is ER6-N with very little difference in their US presentation. This would be why they are so similar functionally.

That's because they were speaking German.
It sounds so weird because they are speaking Austrian German (standard variety of the German language spoken in Austria)
