The Battle for Malta, Was a turning point of the Western Fronts during the war. It was very clear if the Axis had control over Malta they would have control over the Air in Africa. Malta was vital for the British, They could target Axis supplies & ships and attack Axis forces in Africa. "IF" The Axis forces had taken Malta the war in Africa could have been lost and theAxis in control of the Empires resources in the Mid-East, Perisa wide open for invasion.

Hitler proposed to England to leave Poland after it was conquered, but obviously you do not know much about foreign politics of that time. The reason why the war started is that Poland refused to maintain transportation to German territories, namely Prussia, and wanted war with Germany. Hitler wanted peace a dozen times, even before the war started. England refused all offers, and that was not because of conentration camps, but of the economic power and the fear of losing the "balance of power" england wanted. Mass Murders... proof? Sources? He was appalled at the lies and propaganda he had been exposed to as a child in Nazi Germany and refused to go back after the war, staying here in Britain. This is why in the middle of the war you start to hear about "total war" from the nazis, as they had given up hope that peace could be negotiated. @mrprodigy83 this is true, germany wanted only a railroad that connected east prussia to the rest of the country through the danzig corridor. It is in fact documented that the poles were so hostile, they would shoot at civilian planes travelling over the corridor. Ive also read that the poles intended to invade east prussia as they felt backed up by the british promises of support, no matter what.

My Grandfathers Brother was a Spitfire pilot during the campaign in Malta. Apparently his name is on a Memorial there, hopefully one day I can go and pay my respects. He was killed in 1944 when his plane went down near Anzio Beach. He scored 5 kills and damaged 2 more, and was considered an Ace of WW2 he also won the DFC. All I know is what my Grandfather has passed down to me and the few things written about him online. if anyone has any further info about this man it would be greatly apprecia

The Italian and german pilots killed about 280 maltese kids during the air war. While adults would hide when the planes came over, kids would run from it. its hard to judge height even when flying low,yet Its very easy to spot running people :(

My Great Uncle is part of the war graves commission 'cemetery' in Pieta from dardanelles 1915 (British).

Malta played a pivotal role in both wars and the courage shown defending herself in WWII is unbelievable against all odds - hence the George cross awarded to the whole island.
