The Battle for Malta, Was a turning point of the Western Fronts during the war. It was very clear if the Axis had control over Malta they would have control over the Air in Africa. Malta was vital for the British, They could target Axis supplies & ships and attack Axis forces in Africa. "IF" The Axis forces had taken Malta the war in Africa could have been lost and theAxis in control of the Empires resources in the Mid-East, Perisa wide open for invasion.
Hitler Invaded the Maltese islands because Malta was the only island near the African Continent making it easier for him to attack North Africa. So Malta was a very important island during ww2
I love Malta, they didnt need to fight, they could have kicked the British out and taken the easy, none confrontational way out. But they stood against Nazism, God bless them!

Hitler never wanted to invade Malta????During the Second World War, Malta was the most bombed place on earth. More than 14,000 bombs were dropped......You need to speak to some people who were there when the bombs were dropping. Long live Malta and the Maltese. We are true survivors....
The brits always seem themselves as victims. Indeed, they had the opportunity to stop the war when Ger proposed peace. But no, churchill, this bastard, did not want peace.
Another thing is the perspective. You could also make a docu like this one from the german point of view. Write "war for peace and freedom" on your flag, and everything is settled.
@mrprodigy83 Watch out for the neo nazi 12 year old with sensitive feelings about his ignorance. How does it feel to know youre going to grow up to be a total failure?
Oh really, you must have this one perspective of a neo nazi right? Bold head, aggressive towards immigrants, unemployed. Well let me tell you that I am quite the opposite. Due to the politics made, the right wing movement is gaining strength, not losing it. You are wasting my time here pal, no offence. Just another youtuber who thinks his political correctness makes him naturally stronger than other opinions, that is true ignorance.
@mrprodigy83 - 'bald' head even? And you're just another 'youtuber' who thinks your 'time will come' because of the clarity of your intellectually superior political probity and an overwhelming sense of 'destiny'. Here's a newsflash: It came, it was seen, it was conquered
The Reich may be gone but its ideals remain. Thanks to the ignorance of politicians, as if for my part, I would not be fascinated by the 3rd Reich if democracy would work. But it doesnt! My fascination doesnt go that far to have swastika flags all over, but I admire the purity and efficiency of the government, the wealth and order, which made every citizen a part of the whole.Today, society values are nearly gone, crime is rising, the youth feels lost, but democracy celebrates itself.
@mrprodigy83 Of course Churchill didnt make peace with a leader who had just overrun and invaded 4 of its Allies. Are you retarded? So Hitler wanted peace with Britian, good for him! He should have walked out of Poland, France and Czechoslovakia if he wanted peace that badly.
Hitler proposed to England to leave Poland after it was conquered, but obviously you do not know much about foreign politics of that time. The reason why the war started is that Poland refused to maintain transportation to German territories, namely Prussia, and wanted war with Germany. So please stop your "allies were so peaceful" bla bla
@mrprodigy83 I never said the Allies were 'so peaceful.' I said that Churchill would have been retarded to make peace with Hitler. Concentration camps, Slave Labour, Territory Conquests, Mass Murder of Russian POWs, Mistreatment of Polish and Russian Civilians, Bombing of civilians in Guernica and his own London (which the Allies did too later). Would You make peace with a regime like that?
Hitlers foreign politics were a result of the mistreatment of germany by England, France and the other Entente powers.
Hitler wanted peace a dozen times, even before the war started. England refused all offers, and that was not because of conentration camps, but of the economic power and the fear of losing the "balance of power" england wanted. Mass Murders... proof? Sources? The real propaganda began when Germany lost the war...
@mrprodigy83 No mate, you are wrong. I have a good friend who was a German Whermacht POW and fought in the Ardennes 1944-45. He was appalled at the lies and propaganda he had been exposed to as a child in Nazi Germany and refused to go back after the war, staying here in Britain. I asked him the specific question of propaganda, he sid Nazi Germany was full of proganda and lies, whereas Britain and the BBC is where you heard mostly the truth. He is now living down the road and I repair hisPC
@mrprodigy83 this is true, for example dunkirk was an appeasement offer intended to show goodwill to the british and end the war. But the British steadfastly refused. This is why in the middle of the war you start to hear about "total war" from the nazis, as they had given up hope that peace could be negotiated. And yes the versailles treaty set the scene for ww2, had it been less severe, millions would have been spared.
@Xiolablu3 Well, have you looked into British colonialism? its riddled with the same black history of mass murder, bombing of civilians, driving opium addictions, slave trade, betrayed promises, etc. In fact, few nations rival great britain in misdeeds, so saying that making peace with hitler would have been impure is off the mark. In any case, look at today, many brutal dictatorships around and democracies have no problem in supporting them with money and weapons No doubt hitler was no angel ok
@mrprodigy83 this is true, germany wanted only a railroad that connected east prussia to the rest of the country through the danzig corridor. It is in fact documented that the poles were so hostile, they would shoot at civilian planes travelling over the corridor. Ive also read that the poles intended to invade east prussia as they felt backed up by the british promises of support, no matter what.
@Xiolablu3 It would be interesting to study the peace proposals on the table at the time, maybe what you say was actually seriously considered. Who knows.
@ww2footage haha Hitler saw Malta as a spectecular capture its great harbours were just what he wanted for his precious u-boats and destroyers and also the airfield in malta.

If there was any need for proof of Maltese courage the two sieges of Malta,1565 against the Turks, and 1941against Nazi Germany you've got it in these two sieges.
No body mentioned that at the start of the war we Maltese had to defend our island with only three (3) primitive fighters! These were called FAITH, HOPE and CHARITY. Only Faith survived and can be seen in a local war museum.
The Italian and german pilots killed about 280 maltese kids during the air war. While adults would hide when the planes came over, kids would run from it. its hard to judge height even when flying low,yet Its very easy to spot running people :(
People today can't imagine the ferocity of the battles. The slowness of the aircraft compared to todays' jets makes it look like a toy show, but it wasn't! People were maimed and killed and medical care was primitive compared to todayl These were brave people all around!
@TiteNYC haha i agree with u 100% not bec i think that but that what im told by mah grand pa and many other old dudes :D they just dropped the bombs on malta and quickly turned back to avoid fire and spitfires and hurricane xD the germans were fiered the most and for good reasons...

@TiteNYC half the time that italian bums came to bomb malta they would have dropped the bombs anywhere sometimes even on sea or on places where they werent aimed as targets
@TiteNYC Look up the Folgore division. “I wish to say that in all my life I have never encountered soldiers like those of the Folgore”, stated British General Hughes. They might be the only soldiers of the italian army who could fight. They were paratroopers.
Bullshit! They were not great but their air force did its best. But than again there would have been no Africa front if not for them. Hitler considered USSR the number one target but thanks to Mussolini had to send troops elswhere.
@TiteNYC Because instead of talking to stereotypes do not tell? You know that Italians have never even fought and escaped without a will? You know at El Alamein to the "magnificent" Germans, Italians have had to protect their escape? You speak from ignorance and you probably are !!!!!!!!!!! I hope you're not English, because the British machine-gunned in north africa field hospitals!! And remember that without the help of the United States and their weapons would be driven over the Nile! Idiot..
@ita421 Err the British routed the Italians in 1941, before the US even joined the war. 36.000 British took 130,000 Italian prisoners during Operation Compass in February 1941. Anyway, the guy slagging u off is a yank, not a Brit.
@TiteNYC thats not true, you can read in the Rommel papers that the average italian soldiers were a hardy, courageous bunch, their problem was obsolete kit and terrible leadership, which meant they could not withstand fighting as effectively as other better equipped nationalities.
Italians are good at football. And serie z is a top league to NOT. Yes the make great cars and also shit cars like fiats. Correction Sengleaboy. Hitler was protecting Europe from Stalin's horde of communist mongoloid freaks. It was Stalin that attacked first, not the other way around. Also, Hitler didn't want a war with Britain or America but they kept attacking German soldiers so Hitler had to fight back. American attacks on German shipping is recorded in any history book and shows that America committed multiple multiple war crimes by attacking Germany without a formal declaration of war.
My Great Uncle is part of the war graves commission 'cemetery' in Pieta from dardanelles 1915 (British).
Malta played a pivotal role in both wars and the courage shown defending herself in WWII is unbelievable against all odds - hence the George cross awarded to the whole island.
Thanks for uploading.
For those we all lost - Their Name Liveth Forever More.
my grandfather served on the hms penelope as part of force k and force k had a big role in malta escorting ships in and out they even towed the breconshire into malta in march 42 and was the last ship to be pulled out of malta force k thats were the name hms pepperpot comes from
It is a real pity that the cemetery seems quite abandoned. I am Maltese, yet I feel sad to see this cemetery in shambles. Pressure needs to be put on the competent authorities in order to honour these British and American fallen soldiers by taking care of this location before further damage is done!!
Malta was always an impregnable fortress...the ottoman turks found that out and also the germans.. haha our courage and conviction is our greatest weapon.
Malta was unbeatable at those times; now Malta could be in war but the only thing the maltese ever care about is the prices of oil, gas, food and cars. Obviously we would only last for 2 days maximum in war, for 1 atomic bomb would kill any civilian and even those is shelters for the shelters now have hole for ventilation.

American attacks on German shipping is recorded in any history book and shows that America committed multiple multiple war crimes by attacking Germany without a formal declaration of war.

You don't believe Stalin would attack germany in 1943 perhaps

And without Malta (and Enigma decoder) the war could have had a different outcome.

@futuramark
Yeah, thats why you better died for the british, as you led them in. Lol
They were not after maltese ppl, they wanted to get rid off the allied forces.
