The problem is drugs may elevate your consciousness temporarily but you can't maintain that state without drugs. I don't think drugs are bad if used in moderation. But what is moderate drug use? Meditation on the other hand is good all around.
moderste drug use is using the drug in a way which will not harm us, such as the occasional smoking of marijuanna, but not snorting cocaine everyday for 5 years.lol
Meditation is so important. May all beings be happy. From November 19th to the 24th, 2009 Palden Dorje aka ram Bonjom of Nepal will be giving blessings in Gadhi Mai in order to protest the sacrificing of tens of thousands of animals before they take place on the 25th at the Gadhi Mai Festival near Nijgad in Bara District. Please participate in any way you can.
Yes. But way more scinetific than your scientific examinations of said body part. Did the accent bother you? If it did, no one's about to appologize. This is one year later.
I am never going to use street drugs. To be precise, I've not done any drugs... yet. I don't need drugs to change my dopamine and other levels. The states of consciousness induced by meditation and contemplation and drugs all are vastly different. Meditative states are non the same as trance or hypnosis. I think your volition for me to use drugs is misguided and unethical. :)
So, which do you dismiss, besides the fact that the fellow's a guru, is it meditation that you dismiss or the science?
Actually its still very spiritual using drugs or not, its just a different approach on the whole thing without intaking anything. Just look at certain "indigenous" tribes around the world that take hallucinogenic herbs, each one of those people can tell you how spiritual the experience is as well as the more synthetic approach as LSD and MDMA. Just think of meditation as a harder approach to a spiritual enlightenment than to things or you can use a more quicker one by just taking a pill.
not many people are willing to listen to this point of view.
just shows a lack of experience. nobody wants to see it from both sides. the truth is LSD taught me more than any human being ever could. meditation, yoga, and tai chi were necessary to make that step, but i couldn't have experientially learned much about the benefits of meditation without having used LSD.
i have also used THC, psilocybin, salvia, DMT in a spiritual context
meditation is focusing on the spirit which science is unable to study. the brain is physical.

The problem is even these people are confusing brain states with conciousness. Conciousness does not come from the brain.

As a sage I highly agree,
There was once a psychic test that took place and the user scored higher stoned then sober.

What kind of damage? I HIGHLY doubt that you would be able to get to those meditative states with damage there.

If you want to alter dopamine levels in your brain, use drugs.
Nothing mystical or spiritual about altered states generated by the brain.
This guru is on the same level as a drug addict.
