6 days ago, my grandad passed away at the age of 77, he was the most influential man ive ever known, to battle TB since he was 24 and cancer since 1996. to battle it all, he was a plasterer for 50 years. I quit my job yesterday and went to 30 plasterers in my town and asked to work for free, Im now unpaid, But im doing what my grandad did. How I am a photographer just like he was, I'm as tall as he was, I drink black coffee just like him, I put family before everything else, I love everyone I meet just as he wanted me to. I wake up and think "What can I do today to be half the man he was?" Thank you Neil Young for helping me remember who I am, and what life is truly about.

I heard the studio version of this last night on the radio, and the haunted, slide guitar half-way through the song gives me chillls. It reminds me of my childhood, driving through the Owens Valley, gazing at the flattest prairies leading to the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. 1971, I was 8 years old. About 8 or 9 years later on I heard Neil for the first time, on Deja Vu. I'm 48 now. His music didn't even change my life... it shaped my life. I have 3 kids. They all love his music. My son is a musician. Neil is one of his great inspirations. There is still a lot of good stuff in this world. Just listen, and you will know what I mean.
