  • is there a fender stratocaster in there?

  • I am in Indonesia.

    good band with good music.

the vocal is cool in this video !

  • Once wrote to the band - said Can't Ignore the Train was their finest moment, which has haunted me for a long time (mainly because it isn't their best - Going Under? - but also because it's a cover. Sorry). They are the only constant in my top 3 bands since 1989, long may my cd's and casettes (thank you, Mr Ravenscroft) hold out.

  • i know the lead singer !!!

  • love this band - love the energy! timeless!!

  • Have no idea how I never heard this tune 'til now. Many thanks for posting...

  • @bowenjaybee I have both sessions if you're still after them.

  • Thanks for sharing this "Indie-Gem". Powerful Guitars ...

    100***/Fav

  • Huh.... I suppose there aren't many teenagers that know about th Popguns other than some people here and myself... Oh, well. Their loss. =]

  • @JustHereForComedy people assume that because the brittish guitar music scene is so poor at the moment that it's always been that way. it flourished in the eighties, but people don't realise that. its unfortunate that we have to look to america for any half decent music these days. ah well... (also im, or at least i was till very recently, a teenager and have liked popguns for a few years)

  • Thanks! Remembering this great track from mtv in the late 80's. Those where the days.

  • The Popguns Eugenie was one of the first indie LP's i bought on hearing John Peel play almost every track from it back in the early 90's. I still love it !

  • 大好きな曲です!!!

    Thanks pv up!!!

    ありがとう!!!

  • Thanks for this - I remember it well as 'Transmission' shaped so much of my music taste back then, whether I stayed up or taped it.

I prob have this and a number of other nuggets on the pile of going-mouldy VHS tapes in my basement!

The first two Popguns CD albums were complete genius and Wendy was a top 'real' front-woman

  • Ahh! Good memories!

  • hell yeah, good'ol'times again and again....

  • My auntie is Awesome and i love this song!!

  • I have the coolest auntie and uncle EVERR!

  • I remember "Transmission" - bloody good TV show but on in the middle of the night! The BBC's "SnubTV" was also good. Great alternative/indie stuff on these shows - made up for the crap pop charts!

  • Transmission was always good "post Student night at he local Ritzy" telly on at about 3 in the morning.

It was the only place you could see half the bands that we were in to, back then.

I've still got an old VHS tape with Robert LLoyd and the New Four Seasons on it. Fantastic stuff.

  • I think the Robert Lloyd track was "Sign Of the Anchor"?

  • 'role of the anchor'. I bought the album on the strength of that track. Needless to say, like most of my indie album purchases in those days, it was totally crap and only played once or twice!!!

  • is it time for another little outing then?

  • Yes.... and make sure it's well publicised!

  • Yes... "... make sure it's well publicised !!!"

  • Une claque dans ma gueule

  • I have one Peel session on C90 bowenjaybee. It has Going Under, Those Other Things, Still a World Away and I'm Spoiling Everything.

When I work out how to get it on You Tube, i'll put it up.

  • I have Because He Wanted To (B-side of Waiting...) taped off Peely in 1990. I eventually bought Another Year... but have no Peel Sessions of theirs soz.

  • she looks like she's wearing one of her grans tops.

  • LOL..... I work at a gun shop named pop guns.

  • thanks for putting this on!

    i've been humming it all day x x x

  • A brillant song. First time I've heard it !!!

  • Will you tell her that there's still a lot of people who would kill to see them play live again?

Does she still work in music?

  • The song that made one Summer (and Winter) in my distant youth..if anyPopguns are out there in cyberspace, this is Kate (I sang with you in Sinatras in Brum amongst other places back in 91) what a fab year that was..It's so great to see the video!! Thanks for being such a lovely down to earth band xx

  • Thanks so much for this video, until i saw all it last year I didn't even know any videos existed. Thanks to The Popguns also for many wonderful memories and gigs (although the Tunbridge Wells one in an old public toilet wasn't the best). C'mon lads, get them guitars out, we need to hear your voice Wendy!

  • Great band, great gigs, great song, great shame they never made it huge, they deserved to. All the people on here who are in touch with Wendy and Simon, please please please persuade them to do another gig!

  • I am so glad these videos are here! What a great band - saw them loads of times in Plymouth including a sketchy gig on a boat. Any one else there?! Still listen to them at least once a week. They even have a facebook page...

  • Wow! Fantastic! I only ever saw The Popguns once, Heineken Music Festival, Stanmer Park 1990 (?), yet there music has been going around in my head ever since. Thank you!

  • great song

  • 'Can't ignore the train' - love the cover and brilliant live. Wendy used to dedicate this to me when I was at their gigs. What great gigs they were! Wendy's and Michael's Mum.

  • What a song... wow. Also the "Another Year Another Address" comp can still be found, which has all the singles (I think) and a few more including a great cover of "Can't ignore the train" by 10,000 maniacs.

  • love it!!

  • luv all popguns songs wendy and simon are my auntie and uncle and they ROCK !!!!!

  • One of my all-time favorite songs! I'm so glad i found this!

  • Steve and Alison from MOLS 87 want to know if Simon and Pat are Alive and Kicking! Been to the Ange Bleue recemment?

  • Just seen Pat this evening at poker. His hair is awesome. Is that Steve as in Kay? and Alison as in Livsey? The memory fades as you probably understand.

Been to the crepe jaune in abou '95 but never back to AB.

  • Yep, tis us. We met up a few weeks ago. Is that SP? - amazing! Hope you're well. Memories and other things fading!

  • Please say a big, big thank you from me. I missed them at the powerhouse by 1 night!

  • My 12" is 18 years old. I'm 35. I think that record has aged much better than I have!

  • this is the only popguns song i've heard, found it on the rough trades indiepop compilation and fell in love with it.

absolutely fucking brilliant, cheers for the vid.

  • I adore this song, thankyou so much.

  • Great man, its quite hard to get hold of their stuff, when i was in London recently Rough Trade ddn't have any! It would be good if they had a myspace so you could listen to some other tunes aswell! Really is a brilliant single.

  • All their albums are brilliant and thank you for posting one of our favourite tracks. We'll watch it again and again.

  • I never got to see the band live (boo, hoo!)I've worn out my Vinyl of Eugenie, the 12" singles and daren't start playing the 7" singles.

Thank you for posting these videos, it's a shame Wendy, Shaun and the band aren't on facebook so I can thank them for the great tunes (Snog was great!)

  • brilliant!!!

  • Thanks for this. A Classic.

  • Thank you so much for posting! Brilliant stuff - never thought I'd get to see this. Now, Popguns, please can we have a reunion gig in London and not some unannounced brighton thing that I don't get to hear about until after the event! ;)

  • Never Thank you enough, whoever you are.

From an italian britpop-grown up boy, allways looking for gems like this... this is EMO if emotions still mean something!

  • You've got the video for "Someone You Love"??!! Zoinks. It would be such a crime not to upload that one. Many thanks again for the uploads so far.

  • I've been into this band for over 15 years now and didn't know they had any videos! Thanks for adding this - you got any more? I'll never understand how The Popguns didn't get the success they deserved

  • thank you!music doesn't have to be experimental in order to sound nice..wendy's voice is amazing..did she release any solo album?does anybody know if popguns are going to release a new album?it's been years since the last one...greetings from greece!

  • A BILLION thanks for posting this. I've been a big fan of the popguns since the late eighties, but I've never ever seen one of their videos. And thanks for the "heads up" email letting us know you posted this gem. We are not worthy!! I've got loads of Weddoes, Primitives, DBuds, La's, Sundays etc on VHS. Keep on at me till I upload it! Thanks again - Mark
