Thank you for posting this, I have to do my bearings on my 330i, I know they are a different size but I'm going to give this kit a shot. I've been eyeing it for a while and did my wife's bearings the way that you did it in your older video's. Thank you for posting quality videos. Also when you push the hub back in make sure the backing plate is against the bearing, if it isn't the rear inner race can separate from the bearing and destroy your new bearing
You'r rite about that Harbor Freight Bearing kit. it Also works on a lot of other stuff mine has More than paid for its self already. i got mine about 3 years ago for $79.00 >Nice Demo<
Some useful stuff in both videos. The reason why the first bearing you put in did not last more than 20k miles is you installed it by pulling it in against the inner race. This treatment is almost guarranteed to "rime" (that is put a small flat on them) the balls in the bearing consequently it doesn't last. You should ALWAYS install a bearing into the hud by pulling it in on the outer race
Nice video Ed. I was thinking of adding that bearing removal kit to my tool collection. looks like it worked pretty well for you so guess I will pick one up.
nice job. You should have good luck with that Timken bearing. I like to use them SKF, or FAG I once bought some cheep bearings for the mower deck spindles on the toro i used to have. they only lasted a year. I guess you get what you pay for.
@edzgarage Also, I meant to ask you if you want a link to the "BMW TIS Online Repair Manuals" website. It's been floating around BMW forums so I wasn't sure if you have it bookmarked already. The URL is tis . spaghetticoder . org (remove the spaces, of course).
Wel spend money for the tools, no more asking a shop to remove the barring and pay for it., how much mile did drive this BMW that the barrings are worn out ?
Job well done on the Beemer and an even better job shooting the video. I know how difficult it is to get a decent two dimensional image when doing vehicle repair.
I had done the same with mine , those made in China bearing just never lasted ,untill I bought the oem parts , never yet had trouble with bearings .Nice Job Ed .

What happens if I have a bad wheel bearing?
xdarkdragonx01 4 months ago
@xdarkdragonx01 The sound from the bearing is LOUD and obnoxious. If it get's real bad you could damage the hub.

Thats alot faster then what I do.
