For the first time I disagree with Paul. Guns aren't inherently bad, and i think them existing is worth the few lives they cost every once in awhile. I know it is hurtful, but it is true.
I agree with you on religion, but not on guns. Mainly because religion make moral guidlines whether good or bad. Guns do not change the mind of the person using them, they just allow an evil person to do bad. In contrast, guns can also allow a victim to defend themself, it does not have any influence to the person's perception of life or morality.
@TehFunnehMann If someone has a gun, it does add an option to their thought processes, People who might not do bad, or are on the fence, might suddenly be motivated by a tool of destruction. Guns bring a lot of power into the hands of its holder, and power corrupts.
True, having something destructive like a gun could potentially encourage someone to do wrong. But, as you said, they could be on the fence about it. If so, they already have these thoughts in their head, and the gun, like TehFunnehMann said, only allows the evil person to do bad, it doesn't create the evil that is already there. A car can be used for evil too. So can a lot of other daily items that we use, such as knives. Almost everything can be used for evil, not just guns exclusively.
I agree, RELIGION DIVIDES MANKIND, possibly for as long as there are people, or until one religion dominates and absorbs all others.
If there were one religion worldwide, the one "box" would be difficult to think outside. I think that by virtue of the other religions of the world (other people's boxes), which are ridiculous to anyone but the faithful of that cult, offer excellent contrast to one's own beliefs.
For the empathic that is good at compare & contrast, Freedom results.
Throughout history slaves have been disarmed by their leaders. Oppressed people don't get weapons. Equated the bullshit that is religion to a gun is offensive; not just to the gun.
Logic and reason are the, 'guns' that protect thought. Religious people have been disarmed for thousands of years now.
I totaly see where ya coming from. But do you think that religion has done great things? Provides morals, helps charities, and gives people hope (weather its false hope or not, it's still hope) Guns have done nothing but take away life. They dont have a "good" side.
maybe if we would just make up a religion that says just beleive and be moral and you go to heaven they might accept it hey ignorance is bad but if it causes no harm and is not spread then its better than harmful ignorance
saying religion is like a gun is like saying humanity is like a gun, you can obviously see that there are people who kill and murder people because of religion, color, beliefs and any other silly thing they can think up to hate someone for. Religion always changes, science changes, that doesn't mean we can base modern life on science any more than we can on religion. we evolve however we will evolve, I dont think we really have that much controll over it anyway.
Please don't equate change in religion to change in science. They do not equate, and our modern lives now have to be based on science because most of us could not survive without it.
we could survive without science, and we could survive without religion but a lot of people these days cant 'survive' without one of those, like some druggies cant survive without shooting up, know what i mean? they are both trivial options in life, a man could go his entire life without knowing a single thing about science or a single thing about religion and live a better life then most of us ever will.
@TheHellBound666 I have no idea where the fuck your going with your posts either your a troll saying this baffling shit just to get a rise, or you truely believe the drivvel you are spouting either way I don't look forward to your response but trolls will be trolls wont they?
@TheHellBound666 Your touting the annihilation of the education system that is what I don't understand. Opinions are like assholes everyone has one and they are all full of shit, yours especially. How you feel about the sciences is a bit archaic and counter productive people like you are what makes this world a bit less enjoyable. I take it you have family? Next time one of them or you get sick just slap on a couple of leeches 'cause you don't need any of that useless science or technology.
To be honest I've never known anyone personally with a disease that science has helped cure, leeches would have helped them equaly as much as the failed attempts the doctors made. Science isn't useless, neither was religion, leeches, witchcraft, animal sacrifices or thinking the world was flat. Science is everything we know now to exist, not everything that exists, most of us are just too blind or stupid to consider that there may be a lot more we will just never know.
another argument that it is like a gun is that there is no god/jesus on earth at the moment, people put all there trust, faith and belife in 1 human begin, and these people can be as corrupt and unjust as they like but they use the excuse that they are doing it because of religion and they still have a huge following, its like a fucking cult.........religion is bullshit.....for humanity to survive religion must die!!!
The Scientific Method. 1.Define the question 2.Gather information and resources (observe) 3.Form hypothesis 4.Perform experiment and collect data 5.Analyze data 6.Interpret data and draw conclusions that serve as a starting point for new hypothesis 7.Publish results 8.Retest (frequently done by other scientists) Religious Doctrine 1. Have an answer 2. Don't question it or go straight to hell.
@funkyplayer4212 yep you summed it up pretty good but the religious seem to think its the other way around and they always seem to think a theory is just a mediocre guess
fair enough,it's just on e of those things that you either like right away, or takes a little time to grow on you, or it's just not for you. i always say that time will tell whose right, christians or aithiest,we just got wait, yah know?
Very good point. Science evolves. Living things evolve. Religion does not evolve. Therefore, religion will eventually be selected for extinction. It will take a lot of time, but it will happen.
@handygeek Wow, I'm really impressed. I know this was a comment made 3 years ago but this has to be one of the best and most intelligent things I've ever read. You sir, deserve to be quoted!
@ikutsu2001 I don't think it was so intelligent. But thanks. I have since studied the evolution of religions, actually. Truth be told, as societies evolve, so too do their associated religions, rituals and culture. To qualify my original statement: religions which don't evolve will become extinct. The fundies of the world will find themselves alone in the dark and cold.
I agree. Religion has done good things but like the gun it really isn't necessary. Like you i can't stand guns.
Was about to get all off topic on gun ownership, thats for another post. What I'm trying to say is that they share the same characteristics. They can do a limited amount of good but ultimately without them i believe we would be better off.
Religion bangs pots and pans to save your soul but does little on the floor of the senate or house to change the condition of the body as in universal health care, helping the poor(that want to be helped) that need a little assisstance etc.. If anything in the storys in the NT portraid Christ seeming to take care of the "condition" of the body first before venturing to save your soul i.e. forgiveness etc..
All War should be finished with a single one on one Battle. Like in the one old show where the countries all had there own Giant Robots and there is a person in side them. So wars start and end in a single fight with to large robots. Winer wins the war. And there country gets what ever it was there fighting over.
Yes, some guns are just made for killing people, like assult rifles. I have to keep one at home cause in Switzerland it´s compulsory to go to the army.
It´s so useless. The last time of armed conflict in Switzerland was over 150 years ago.
Armed neutrality, is the posture of a state which makes no alliance with either side in a war, but asserts that it will defend itself against resulting incursions from all parties.
Maybe. But those people should understand that here in america, we bash him too. He's got something like a 20% Approval rating now. We even hate him. He broke every presidential promise and protocol, tried to take away our rights, and started a war we didn't want. What a bastard.

Religion is not changing.
Since it cannot change it must re-enkarnate from time to time.
As seen with Protestants:
Here, Germany, protestants go to church for prayer, sure.
But they go more for singing-chorus, gossip and charity events.
For little art venues and for cake and coffee meets.
So religion in my region is more of a social environment than anything else (I hope and think).
When the religious part of this social meet gets too overbearing - this circle will re-enkarnate again.
