For the first time I disagree with Paul. Guns aren't inherently bad, and i think them existing is worth the few lives they cost every once in awhile. I know it is hurtful, but it is true.

I agree with you on religion, but not on guns. Mainly because religion make moral guidlines whether good or bad. Guns do not change the mind of the person using them, they just allow an evil person to do bad. In contrast, guns can also allow a victim to defend themself, it does not have any influence to the person's perception of life or morality.

True, having something destructive like a gun could potentially encourage someone to do wrong. But, as you said, they could be on the fence about it. If so, they already have these thoughts in their head, and the gun, like TehFunnehMann said, only allows the evil person to do bad, it doesn't create the evil that is already there. A car can be used for evil too. So can a lot of other daily items that we use, such as knives. Almost everything can be used for evil, not just guns exclusively.

Here, Germany, protestants go to church for prayer, sure.

But they go more for singing-chorus, gossip and charity events.

For little art venues and for cake and coffee meets.

So religion in my region is more of a social environment than anything else (I hope and think).

I agree, RELIGION DIVIDES MANKIND, possibly for as long as there are people, or until one religion dominates and absorbs all others.

If there were one religion worldwide, the one "box" would be difficult to think outside. I think that by virtue of the other religions of the world (other people's boxes), which are ridiculous to anyone but the faithful of that cult, offer excellent contrast to one's own beliefs.

To be honest I've never known anyone personally with a disease that science has helped cure, leeches would have helped them equaly as much as the failed attempts the doctors made. Science isn't useless, neither was religion, leeches, witchcraft, animal sacrifices or thinking the world was flat. Religion bangs pots and pans to save your soul but does little on the floor of the senate or house to change the condition of the body as in universal health care, helping the poor(that want to be helped) that need a little assisstance etc..
