ok go to step record with is the red dot with a red bar next to it, then once you choose that, use yo directional pad and go right until you go to 1/16 notes, any time you make 2 or more notes, after you strum the first 1/16 note everything else is hammer-on able

If you mean by timing when recording then try step recording. You could also use any pad or controller to program drums.

You cannot have both rhythm and lead guitar on one track.

you can go to the gh mix, then either go into lead machine for the solos or stay in regular. Then go to step record and make a hammeron. if you are on the lead machine, you only need to press the button to hammeron. There is no indicator of if it is a hammeron or not

You cannot record vocals.

You can add a strings track to the vocals part, that match the notes of the vocals. If you know the words you can sing along with the string track. I did it with someones track for Time Is Running Out by Muse, was pretty neat.

how do you make? lay-ups , pull offs or purple solos?

Not quite sure what you mean by lay-ups or purple solos but pulls can be done by simply playing a pull of when recording. if you do it quick enough it will note it down. Also in fast sections, WT automatically notices and adds hammer ons and pull offs in for you.

You can add lighting effects for when you play a song. It's pretty useless really but might interest some people.
