@bobsterfish Although i agree with your overall comment on harder policing - just want to point out - water cannons when full travel at around 15 mph max, the rioters in August were using snatch, grab and run tactics, which meant water canons would have been useless- same goes for stun grenades and bouncing bullets- those kind of tactics only work for densly packed riots. No actually I completed my PPL through my Last year at school, it was presented to me when i was 17, I then stayed on to complete my A-levels where I was accepted into a pilot training scheme for First choice airways, which is now part of Thomson Airways. @bobsterfish Although i agree with your overall comment on harder policing - just want to point out - water cannons when full travel at around 15 mph max, the rioters in August were using snatch, grab and run tactics, which meant water canons would have been useless- same goes for stun grenades and bouncing bullets- those kind of tactics only work for densly packed riots. Incidents like Ian Tomlinson's death at the G20 protests stop police using over force because of 'public outcry'

The Korean shop owners defended their property from the roofs of their shops with shotguns. Surprise, surprise: they were left alone. The UK has the highest burglary rate in the western world. If they really had a shoot to kill policy these riots wouldn't have happened. The UK police should take a lesson from U.S. history: in the aftermath of the devastating 1906 San Francisco earthquake, the National Guard was called out and given instructions to shoot looters on sight. Very effective! Speaking of San Francisco: the SF Vigilance Society was another fine example.. Seems to me the UK could use a few good vigilantes! No handguns? Truncheons and tyre irons work fine!

Increasing police number will not change much these kids have no respect for authority, investment in the area will help but will not change much..there are kids brought up in poor third world countries have moral values respect for elders. No actually I completed my PPL through my Last year at school, it was presented to me when i was 17, I then stayed on to complete my A-levels where I was accepted into a pilot training scheme for First choice airways, which is now part of Thomson Airways. After 19 Months I passed my ATPL. I then completed 600 hours on a simulator to get type rated on a 757. When I finally joined I was put into operation for the new owners Thomsons. Earlier I lost my temper with you from your abuse.........
