Omar's death at Kenard's hands was a perfect example of how a legendary rep cuts both ways. For years the former used word of his exploits to terrorize gangsters into respecting him. But Kenard, who firmly internalized that rep, lost respect for Omar when his hero appeared as just a worn down cripple. Lesson here: though a legendary rep will stop many people from fighting you out of fear, it will also embolden others to seek you the moment you cannot sustain it.
Classic irony as Omar takes a good look at the kid when he enters the store off camera but doesn't think anything of it. After all he's been through, Omar gets taken out by the weakest banger in the street.

omar was injured and lost all of his freinds, so the best he could do is rob as many stashhouses, kill as many people marlo was associated with and destroy his name on the streets, which is what marlo really cared about.

That's what makes the Avon-Stringer story so compelling: there are several very plausible motivations for their mutual betrayal.

Maybe but I kind of doubt it. He never showed any signs of being gay and he was definitely freaked out by anyone he thought might be gay. I think the Spanish sidekick was just to keep up the theme of rip & run gangs being multi-cultural. Rip & run gangs are their own society, separate from the drug gangs, with a different ethos--more egalitarian. (Didn't they split their hauls equally?)

No, Omar didn't know Kenard...but Kenard sure knew Omar. It's true that Omar robbed Marlo's stash, but his real crime was appearing pitiful in front of Kenard.
Remember when Kenard saw Omar limping away and said "THAT'S Omar?" with a tone of disgust and disbelief. This is the same kid who used to idolize him. So, Kenard was punishing Omar for "fooling" him with his badass reputation. He was also establishing a reputation for himself as the super badass who took down Omar.

@8lsatyq I don't remember Omar ever saying anything to Kenard, but its been awhile since I've seen the episode. But I distinctly recall Kenard looking not only disappointed with gimpy Omar, but clearly disgusted with him. Kenard used to idolize him, and when people find out that their idos have feet of clay, they often get quite angry and hostile toward them. Plus, like I said, he also gets to gain a rep as the guy who took down Omar.
