I am saddened that the majority of Scots (at the moment) are against the idea of Independence and I cant see any way of that changing unless the current government really do badly. The British Government are always coming up with petty arguments and brainwashing Scottish people into thinking that they would be worse of with Independence because they are scared of losing the revenue that Scotland provides. It will be interesting to see if Westminster loosens their grip when the oil is gone.

The Sun (like most papers) is only a rag and flirted with independence itself in 1992. However for the rest of its recent existence has been blatantly biased in favour of the Union. You have to take their anti-independence bias with a pinch of salt. I have kept an edition of the "Scottish" Daily Express last year which has a different anti-SNP or anti-Independence story on each of its first 14 pages. @rickmole Hey Bubb, Westminster IS the English Parliament it was maintained and its traditions with it through and beyond 1707. Difference is that you now have one sixth of its members from outwith England. The only thing that England compromised in 1707 was £English398,085 10s (roughly £Scots4.8million) given to greedy Scottish politicians to offset their Darien Scheme debts and that "proud" tradition continues to this day if you look at the Labour Party.

@dougie211292 In 1707 our so called government picked themselves, based on their position, the man in the street did not have a vote in those days. So that makes them unelected. We can vote now and it's people like the young man in this video whose pressure gained us a parliament of our own.

I am saddened that the majority of Scots (at the moment) are against the idea of Independence and I cant see any way of that changing unless the current government really do badly. The British Government are always coming up with petty arguments and brainwashing Scottish people into thinking that they would be worse of with Independence because they are scared of losing the revenue that Scotland provides. It will be interesting to see if Westminster loosens their grip when the oil is gone.

As an English girl, I agree with "MrLeehen"'s comment...that if the Scots want independence...then vote for it and have it!..simple.
The English always welcome the Scots and we don't have any issues with them, we are a great team together, but no English person will lose any sleep if Scotland has it's independence. If you want to go your own way...then good luck.

The Sun (like most papers) is only a rag and flirted with independence itself in 1992. However for the rest of its recent existence has been blatantly biased in favour of the Union. You have to take their anti-independence bias with a pinch of salt. I have kept an edition of the "Scottish" Daily Express last year which has a different anti-SNP or anti-Independence story on each of its first 14 pages. This is aimed at demoralising the appetite for independence (and SNP)

@rickmole Hey Bubb, Westminster IS the English Parliament it was maintained and its traditions with it through and beyond 1707. Difference is that you now have one sixth of its members from outwith England. The only thing that England compromised in 1707 was £English398,085 10s (roughly £Scots4.8million) given to greedy Scottish politicians to offset their Darien Scheme debts and that "proud" tradition continues to this day if you look at the Labour Party.

Our United Kingdom is only as strong as its constituent nations: we should be proud to be Scottish but that doesn't mean that we can't also be proud Britons. As an individual with half Scots and half English family I can tell you that your hate of the English is not echoed in England by a hate of Scots.

The act of union was started in 1707 not the 1300's, before 1707 Scotland were usually at war against the English untill the 1707 union,
Also Scottish oil was found in the late 60's early 1970's,
Thats why since then Westminster has been trying to tighten it's grip on keeping Scotland in the union,
Since the union Scotland like Wales and Northern Ireland has been treated as a small region of a slightly larger country,
Scotland should be seen as its own country,

@segano1 i like to think we are equal to all the english regions, think of it this way, we are 5 million, why do we deserve more than 5 million english people. england is not a united country, it is a group of regions like yorkshire, i prefer to think we are british, nationalists stress the difference between english people and us, hello? Is the single mother struggling to pay her rent in birmingham any different from that in glasgow?
