  • OlaOOp, if you wanna be a douchy technical douche, the sig was written by Paul Anka FOR Sinatra, based on some dusty French song he heard once. Douche.

And Sid's version was the best after Sinatra's.

  • Best version ever!

  • Yes, he really did it his way. And he did it great. Great for all his fans because he wrote one of the most beautiful songs ever. God bless and save him and give him a long life yet.

  • 1996 this featured on a Nike ad. Got the single on tape still. fucking quality!

  • @MrBlipblob theres a 40 sec clip of it on here, You know anywhere that has it in full?

  • I doubt any of you even know how macgowan sounds. It clearly is shane. Just because he has a rough voice doesn't mean he has to be sid. Furthermore, if you need more evidence, this version of 'My Way' was recorded in 1996. Vicious died in '79

  • Being both a fan of Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious and now Shane I think they are different people... Johnny Rotten is a great singer, and Sid Vicious ( Well he had his own version of this song, not saying it´s bad, but i didn´t say it was great either) Shane is very cool here.... I ´ll give you this: I don´t think Johnny Rotten was a punk... But he tried to be one.... Sid was a real punk.

  • @Louisefalk78

Johnny Rotten IS very clever comic man and Sid WAS just an idiot who hate himself. If that means to be punk - dead and stupid, well I don't wanna be one, then :D

    Cheers!

  • @MegaSteidl But you must admit that SID is still remembered today, for his stupidity.. So he must have done some things right... I don´t love the way SID acted but he was part of my favorite band and SID was a part of the story of the sex pistols.. Not all punks are dead and stupid SID was very young and very stupid, but he truly made a name for himself.

  • @lumaz71 Why ? Claude François wrote this song.

    Sinatra just copied it.

Inform youself before saying things like this!

  • this is a sid vicious ;)

  • @X234B1 No its not..... It IS Shane....

  • -facepalm-

  • this is not Shane!

  • @MrV6sport what about him?, anyways i have always wondered what is it so great about Sid?, all of the Sex Pistols legacy belongs to Johnny Rotten. I love McGowan, he is the real thing.

  • @steffxdarling no one's comparing the artists, it's the versions that are compared, and it's certainly fair: it's the same tune.

  • not bad!!! like sid!

  • shane's rendition is good, but no one beats frank sinatra

  • shane macgowan is so hot

  • sid vicious did it best!!!!

  • Damn! Shane did amazing!

  • I love You Shane !

  • this song is made for Shane.... Great Great!!! Greetings from Croatia!

  • sublime

  • hello from holland shane is topppppppppppp. but lads look at herman brood he did it too. its the same story with drinks and drugs. its the ducth variant of shane. he was totat destroyd. his way to come too his end was; he went to the hilton in amsterdam have a couple of gin's (he did it every day) take the elevator to the higest level. and jump he was the only flying dutchmen hoo has the right to sing my way. just have a look at his repetoir. ps sorry for my englisch
  • this and Sids is the best

  • I can barely tell the difference between this version and Sids! Good shit!

  • This song is Shane

  • one day this will be released as a single, i remember the nike ad which was ace

  • Agree with peacefrog1916 and ChrTiedt; its the only cut I've heard to date to bastardize Shane's singing. Not so much Shane singing it, as a fist full of cash using Shane's voice; the producer ought to be shot too, this is way over-produced. Too much effort made to manufacture the song rather than craft/perform it.

  • good stuff. Sid would be proud!

  • @alanbstard4 he didnt write this song

  • @poopmcscoopface Its lyrics were written by Paul Anka and set to music based on the French song "Comme d'habitude" composed in 1967 by Claude François and Jacques Revaux, with lyrics by Claude François and Gilles Thibault. Anka's lyrics are not related to the orginal

  • @alanbstard4 i think frnk sinatra did

  • Where can I get this as an mp3. I've checked ITunes???

  • blow up my speakers what a great version

  • This also has Brian Robertson from Thin Lizzy on guitar

  • If there is ever a song to be played at Shane's funeral come the day he passes on, it would be him singing this! =D

  • LOVE THIS!!!!

  • He did it his way.. kinda hell's highway style :P

  • well done, Shane! you are the best!!

  • @steffxdarling who is comparing?, and even if so, why not?

  • 3 people has clean theet

  • @Iker666beast and one person can't spell teeth...

  • great song anyway...

  • that's shane's voice.... it's a nipple erectors's record

  • geweldig nummer Shane,thanks a lot!!!

  • Not his best cover ever but who the fuck cares, it's Shane-o!

  • Sorry but this voice does not sound like Shane!

    THis can not be Shane!

  • Shane was and still is more of a punk than Johnny Rotten or Sid Vicous ever was/were.

  • @jakmatt07 Maybe, It's hard to compete with Johnny back in the 70's. But now he's a little bit of a sell out so over all, i guess you can say that Shane is more punk. Biggest punk of all time, in my opinion is Paul Simonon of The Clash, he was seriously everything that punk was about. But yeah, Shane was and still is really punk !! A fucking a rebel, he's so damn Irish

  • Shane and Cave - talant's of rock! Long live rock-n-roll!!!

  • This is SID VICIOUS not SHANE MACGOWAN!!!!

  • Im afraid that Shane wasn't drunk when he did this... its terrible... no vision, no soul... and who the f*** put those awful descending horns in the mix?

-a sad and desperate thing this is....

  • @ChrTiedt Agreed. Acorrding to his book he didn't want to do it but he was paid 16,000 quid cash to do it, it was used for a Nike commercial in 1996.

  • I love shane but he dont need to be covering sids sinatra......and the change he throws in at the MY WAY line kinda sucks right??? maybe not i dunno shit....no disrespect to Shane though....he was probably drunk when he.....wait, OK so maybe he was extra dunk when he recorded it...??? all love to the roaving sons and daughters of Erin

  • shane mcgowen LEGEND he did it his way

  • a living bloody legend!!!!!!!!!

  • he definitely did it his way....and that way was piss drunk

  • Yep, it's different to Sid's version. Shane is a genious, Sid was a dumbass. But both made great covers of this song.

  • I need this picture which is used in this wideo... please help... thx

  • Sid Vicious??!!...it´s Shane...

  • me on drums

  • Fucking mint

  • definately not sid. They are similar, but this is definately Shane MacGowan (I have the CD single) somewhere). Check them out side by side and you can hear the differences. Both good versions though, I think.

  • Is this even Shane ? Does not sound like him...

  • What?

  • Yeah definately Shane, ya'd know him a mile away.

  • apparently Shane was unhappy about having done this, and felt he sold out or something...

I think it's awesome though, and by far the best version of this song, even better than Frank IMO.

  • Shane hated doing this tune due to the sid ans nancy shit, UP TIPP

  • if your first point is true then that's pretty friggin ironic.

  • like this version same beat as sid vicious version which was fantastic and before the elvis fans say anything the elvis version is also fantastic !

  • This was from a Nike advert , any idea how i could see the vid of the ad ?

  • 96 you are right

  • Elvis got nothing on Shane, Shane has more right to sing this tune than any other that has ever sung it

  • this song got written by Francois and brought to success by Sinatra *corrects*

  • Elvis does it brilliantly, Shanes spin is unique to him, fair dues

  • frank sinatra wrote this song, when elvis sang it he didnt even remember the lyrics and need a peice of paper

  • @theman1819 paul anka wrote this song....sinatra made it popular thats all

  • @dubbedcrazy O my bad i dont know too much about classical music

  • @theman1819 Frank Sinatra did not write this song. The original is by Claude Francois ans is called "comme d'habitude", the lyrics in English were written by Paul Anka. Great cover though.

  • Fuck it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • he deserved it!

  • so what!!!!!!!!!! The band are just the band, not to be rude but management sort out the deals

  • I'd never heard this version, and i thought I had pretty much everything Shane's done. Where was it released? Or is it a boot? (if the latter, any idea where i can get it?). Many thanks for posting!!

  • it was released in 1996 i think, it was for a Nike commerical.

  • A Nike commercial??? Hmmm... Have to look into it. Thanks for the response.

  • yeah, you can buy the single on ebay

  • you can get it on ebay, released as in single in 95 I think?

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YES YES YES

I've had this version on my mp3 for god knows how long.

    Its freakin awsome!

This suits MacGowan more than Sid.

This version seems more like 'a real' punk cover as apposed to Sids piss take version.

    And MacGowan means it more.
