I don't enjoy the pace of the Blaze albums as much as I like the pace of the Bruce albums. I have to admit that I'm really not a fan of any of it. I wish I could like it, because Maiden has been my favorite band since I was 13 years old, which was 28 years ago, but I just can't. I don't like Blaze's voice at all. He sounds too much like that creepy little short troll guy from Accept. I'm expecting him to break out and scream "You put your balls to the wall, man!" any second....

You know, I think the only reason anyone ever reviewed X factor or Virtual XI badly was because of the fact that it wasn't Bruce singing

This is certainly a different tone than earlier albums, but it's by no means bad, and Maiden had some GREAT songs during the Blaze years. When Steve Harris wrote these songs, he wrote them for Blaze. Can blaze do Run to the Hills? Probably not, but Bruce can't capture these songs with the power that Blaze originally did.

@gugfish I agree completel. There was some strong nostalgia going on, obviously Maiden had to change their sound, but they did it in such a way that they stayed Maiden. You have to agree the albums were not that great though, but you can find some hidden jewels, such as Sign of the Cross (one of their best epics IMHO), Clansman and so on.

Bruce, then Paul, then Blaze. 'Nuff said. Bruce, becuase he puts so much emotion into it, Paul, because his vocal style fitted in with the albums at that time, Blaze was amazing with Wolfsbane, but he wasn't exactly magic with Maiden. His singing didn't fit in with a few of the songs. I am proud to say, however, that this is not one of those songs.

Bruce and Blaze possess different vocal styles; I think they are both great. The songs written during the Blaze era fit his vocal style. I completely agree that Iron Maiden is not who they are without Bruce. I think Blaze has come into his own with his band, Blaze Bayley.
