  • I just lost about 50 IQ points watching this mindless drivel.

  • they do like lislam

  • If God decides to allow a drought, who are they to second-guess Him? I suppose the Governor will take credit for his summit with the Lord, and win a landslide re-election.

  • This really made it on the news?/ Seriously? Or is this a joke...

  • A MIRACLE.....Watch the weather forcast and a day before it is supposed to rain get together, pray, and if it rains say IT IS A MIRACLE....Idiots

  • Since churches don't pay taxes, the next time a church catches fire, the congregation should pray for rain instead of calling the fire department.

  • What a silly news story. Seriously, do they have nothing better to talk about than coincidences? And such unimpressive ones, honestly. If you "pray" every day for rain, some day you're going to happen to get some of it. OH MY GOSH, WOW! THUS GOD EXISTS!

  • And we laugh about stories about Indians praying for rain.

We need to wake people up.

You know what they do in China for rain? They use technology called cloud seeding and it greatly increases the probability of rain.

  • Right, but they do not say about the days they tried praying and it didn't bring rain. Maybe they could try dancing for rain too?

  • what con artists! now they take all the credit for a little cloud what fucking horrible people

  • sorry to double post but I just know some jack ass is going to reply and say "whats so bad about prayer?" because that preacher is using people! I bet he got tons of cash that someone could have used for their life that was just conned from them by this preacher. Plus they could spend their time irrigating and making water come to them besides sitting on their hands doing nothing but talking to them self "oh please let it rain" its stupid!

  • They saw the weather forecast which said it was going to rain. They prayed for this rain to end the drought. The prayer did not work. They needed 17 inches at least, but only got 1 inch.

  • Nonsense. The only prayer nature rewards if labor. Show me evidence of prayer causing one limb to regrow.

  • OHHH, you here that near the end? "And even if he doesn't [bring rain] we are still gunna praise him..." Gotta love that double standard. You pray for something a weather forecast says will happen, then praise GOD for bringing it, yet if he doesn't bring enough to do any any great amount... well that's okay! He's fuckin GOD! ...I mean really folks. Can we get a bit of consistency here? Enough with the double standards!

  • It's funny that they pray for rain after the news forecasts rain. Then, they don't even get enough rain to affect the drought.

  • wow.

  • Scary. Very fricking scary. These are the people with the nuclear weapons.

  • this is absolutely ridiculous. Sooo if they DIDN'T pray, the drought would have lasted forever?? I can't believe this shit works! Let's get the same people who prayed for the rain to pray for a cure for cancer, because that shit really sucks. how about it?? .....morons

  • All I as is to be shown real evidence of prayer spontaneously regenerating just one pinky toe. Ever notice prayer only cures things that we cannot see? The black eye remains but the headache is gone, what a miracle! Prayer is literally the least helpful thing you can do.

  • LOL, you know what they say, 'god hates amputees'. No about of prayer will regenerate a limb, nor can it heal anything really. But if someone survives cancer, or a stroke, or any other life threatening ailment, the credit goes to god and the power of prayer...you know...because it's not like the many hours of advanced treatment and the countless medical professionals had anything to do with it.

  • Yup, been there, done that, got the T-shirt. It says, "Shit Happens!" :) Peace.

  • Lemme guess, they prayed every day... and eventually IT RAINED!

  • They planned it for a day when rain was forecast. What a waste of time, they'd have been better off making a human chain and bringing in fresh water by the bucket.

  • The bible says that "when two of more are gathered, He is there!" Many people there in Georgia agreed in prayer and asked God to bring rain and He did. I praise God that His children called out to him with a trusting heart!!!

  • Then why did they not bring umbrellas? Why do we have doctors? Why not just pray away the day? If what you say is true please, win a Nobel prize and show me the math.

  • this made me sick, instead of doing something productive, they sit down and talk to their imaginary friend

this is when religion reaches its limits ....

  • O YE OF LITTLE FAITH...

  • Georgia and five other SE states were still in D3(extreme) or D4(exceptional) drought as of Dec 4, 2007 according to Brad Rippey of the U.S. Dept of Agriculture.

  • So the drought is over now?

  • Very good video, shows how stupid people can be. I notice that all these people were praying to end the drought, since the 1 inch fell the drought has got worse. Was that god having a lil ol joke on them. There options Praise the lord, or do something about the situation, hmmmmmmmm, this I think is Darwin natural selection at work.

  • I guess they really didn't believe their prayers would be answered because nobody had an umbrella.

  • You're right! What a lack of faith. Just like a lightning rod on a church steeple.

  • Well I am through with this debate. I will leave you with this; if your right, and there is no life after death, than I am in danger of nothing. However, what if I am right, then where does that leave you in danger of?

    2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

  • Pascal's wager. What blatant hucksterism on your part. "What have you got to lose? I got a good deal."

Question with boldness even the existence of god; because if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear.

    -Thomas Jefferson 1743 - 1826

  • And you do lose something, brother. Yourself.

  • there is proof that god answers prayers..but he only loves some portions of gerogia...imma pray for some steak, maybe ill get a hot dog

  • Ya like the old "God loves you!" (some restrictions apply). Pray for lobster too, maybe you'll get a side of fish sticks ;)

  • lolz. You guys keep prayin' while everyone else works on a real solution.

  • Matthew 16:8

Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, Matthew 21:22

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

  • Alright. Then let me ask you what you are being so irresponsible? Why are you not at the children's burn ward praying away their suffering right now? Why can't prayer regrow an amputated limb? Come on, it moves mountains and raises the dead but can't heal one burned child?

  • How do you know I have not? We live in a fallen world, suffering is a part of life. James 4:14

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.John 16:33

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

  • So it worked? You have seen evidence of prayer healing burns? Regrowing a lost limb? How about just a pinky toe? Please don't try to convince me with, "after the chemotherapy we prayed and my daughter got better." I mean real, tangible evidence.

  • Look, you must have faith, without it not a single prayer will be answerd.Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

  • Ok, great so you have faith. Have you ever seen prayer dramatically heal someone? An exterior wound, not a headache. Seriously, don't you think burns would be easier to heal than cancer? If prayer can part a sea, it should have no trouble regrowing fingers. So, one more time, have you seen such an event?

  • You should also note that several studies (performed by faith-based looking to prove prayer works) actually show that it is negative for patient outcome. Their own studies showed that patients recovered better without prayer, though they keep plugging away. Kudos to their honesty though.

  • So unless you have tangible evidence that prayer can dramatically suspend the laws of nature, I say there is no credence to your assertion that it works at all. People's prayers do not affect the weather, disease or get you a parking spot. The only prayer that nature rewards, is labor.

  • God created the world, so would it be to hard for Him to control nature?

  • Because if there was a God, he would be the embodiment OF nature. His will would be manifest in natural events (which you claim he does) but not by unnatural events. (which you also claim He does) Why would a creator make a "perfect" system and then defy it each time he acted?

  • Romans 2:1

Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

  • 1 Corinthians 2:15

But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

  • Matthew 16:4

"A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed"

  • Look into who did this study, and whom they serveyed. Because I have seen studys the say it does help. So who is right?

  • I'll ask one more time. What empirical, observable evidence do you have that prayer works?

  • 2 Corinthians 4:18

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

    Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

  • Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence.

    -Richard Dawkins 1941 -

  • It is not what the man of science believes that distinguishes him, but how and why he believes it.

    -Bertrand Russell 1872 - 1970

  • Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

    -Carl Sagan 1935 - 1996

So I'll take your hiding behind the aegis of faith that you have not seen prayer actually defy natural laws. So you agree it cannot heal burns?

  • No I don't agree! However, your denial and rejection of Christ as your savior, will surely bring burning that will never end. Revelation 20:15

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

    John 3:18

He that believeth on him (Christ) is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

  • And if there is a god, I think it very unlikely that he would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt his existence.

    -Bertrand Russell 1872 - 1970

What a horrible notion you have. That the dead will be tortured. Sounds like a sick way to live. What again was my crime? Thinking?

  • It may be that ministers really think that their prayers do good, and may be that frogs imagine that their croaking brings spring.

    -Robert G. Ingersoll 1833 - 1899

  • I am a living exsample that it works.

  • how many trillions of prayers have not been answered by those believing they would receive? every single prayer study has shown that prayer makes little or no difference.

  • There are many reasons that a persons prayer my notget answered. First off "NO" is an answer. James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

  • James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Isaiah1:15-16 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; James 5:16 The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

  • lol! i was expecting that answer! the bible contradicts itself so much.

  • If you choose not to believe than that is your free will to do so. None believers will always try and find fault with what the true Word of GOD (KJV Bible)has to say. Because it shines light into the dark soul of the natural man. 1 Corinthians 2:14 "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

  • and believers always make excuses for the contradictions in the bible...

  • No excuse here friend. Just plain truth and fully knowing and understanding my faith. I dont know what version of the bible your reading but mine does not have any contradictions.

  • check out skepticsannotatedbible dot com.

many contradictions, inconsistencies, and outright fallacies in whatever bible you wish to quote.

  • I could refute every one you think you could find! But what good would it do? if I porveyou wrong, would you then believe?

  • did you look at the site i stated earlier? guess not, so here it is again. skepticsannotatedbible dot com

there's not near enough room here to list them all.

  • I have, however, if I paste a site confirming there are NO contradictions in the Bible would you check it out?

  • i sure would.

what's your opinion on the site i gave you?

  • I would say a devout atheist spent a lot of time doing this work of blasphemy. There is so much wrong withthat work and so much taken out of context that I don't even know where to begin.

  • so, where's the site you say "proves" there are no contradictions? truth is not blasphemy. the bible is full of holes. that's the truth.

  • what kind of fool gave this a thumbs down? does the truth hurt your feelings?

  • Again, I call bullshit. Does your Bible not have four contradicting passages depicting the resurrection? Each of the four accounts are startlingly varied. You'd think four people, all present and seeing the same event would have their stories straight. I smell editing.

  • John 3:19

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

  • And yeaeth the man said, "He who is not like me is an asshole and his deeds are foul."

Same old shit. Be like me or you're bad and evil.

  • There is no God higher than truth. -Gandhi

  • Bullshit. There are millions of people praying for food or the floods to stop or their children to not die. So prayer is geographical? You have to be in the first world first? Or are you asserting that all the worlds poor are just lustful and unrighteous?

  • Steve Doocy says people were complaining that you can't have people praying in public. The real complaint was that the Governor was holding a prayer vigil on the Capitol steps.

And no, it wasn't a coincidence. When they held the prayer vigil rain was already on the way. It was in the weather forcast. Lol.

  • I think that the only reason this was reported was, as you say, because it was staged. Clearly a partisan political move. I further think that had it not rained, there would have been no story to tell.

  • ya got that right!

  • If god cared there would be more rain.

It didn't happend but the chances where reduced.

  • I thought after the earthquake in 1583 in Lisbon (at the time a model of "Christian values") when the Pope said it was punishment for iniquity was the end of people thinking God doles out punishment via weather. Then I remember they'll all agree God kills people with lightning, even though that was a Zeus myth.

  • Yes it was coincidence. Weather is weather and it would have rained eventually anyway! I know that's stating the obvious, but hey.
