  • President Reagan was one of a vanishing breed: a patriotic American.

  • Probably half of the Convention Delegates believed that after they saw Ronald Reagan, that they nominated the wrong candidate.

  • Goodness. I don't even known what I would give up just to have been alive during his presidency. Don't even want to know how much Id give to meet the man. A true class act. RIP Ronald Reagan. We need you again...

  • What doc is this from?

  • God! It could have been the greedy '70s instead of the greedy '80s!

  • @ Eidelmania..you shouldnt talk bad about the greatest president ever like that!!!!

  • He was just as clueless and rhetorical in 76's as he was in the 80's. Alzheimers/ plus republicans/ equals lionization of idiots.

  • @Eidelmania

Are you saying that he had alzheimers in the mid 1970s when he was in his early/mid 60s

  • reagan was proud to be an american and he would never appologized for being an american nor would he travel around the world appologizing to countries that we fought to free from communism or nazism. We are the greatest country in the world and reagan brought patrism back to america. God bless america and god watch over our troops who lay their lives for our freedom. r there any reagonites in 2010? Vote conservative in Nov2010. don't let the liberals destroy our country with its spending!

  • For those wondering, this is from the PBS documentary series "The American Experience." This particular episode is called simply "Reagan." Don't know if it's watchable online anywhere, but you can buy it.

  • What's up with Kissinger? He needs to quit hitting on the babe (at 3:23) and pay attention!

  • RRR was a peaceful man. This was in all his speaches and the reason why he made people feel good about themselves. It is not a shock that his kids didnt go to the ship name after him.

His speaches were up there among the best.

  • What documentary is this?

  • Kai,

This is part of a PBS documentary that aired many years ago. Basically all about Ronnie's (lol) rise to office and the white house years and beyond...if you are a Reaganite, you would love it....I wish I could find here on you-tube, but I guess it hasn't been posted yet...

  • "Bajrsgord" you are correct. Today, we all need to vote for the most conservative candiate in 2010. This is our future. Today certain Republicans are really Democrats hiding behind a Republican skirt. Example: Olympia Snow...They most go. Know who they are and don't vote for them. A vote for them is a Democratic vote. Oh OBAMA is going to be like the Carter of the 70's. He will spend spend & hurt our childrens future. It will take a new conservative leader to take us where Reagon once did.

  • We need him as badly today as we did then. Obama scarces the hell out of me. Government run wild, spending like crazy. Will this country still be here like it was then for my grandchildren.....scared.

  • The spending was a result of the Democratic Party's inability to control internal spending. If the cost was for the defense run up all the better. It brought down the evil empire and re-established America's place in the world after the most inept president of all time - Jimmy Carter. What a worthless use of carbon he was. Oh by the way keep tabs on the Obama spending spree.... That man gives me the creeps. Previous jobs, voting present in the Senate and a community organizer, AKA - ACORN.

  • You consider being in the middle of the cold war with two sides preparing for total apocalypse as peace time?

  • True! All Reagan ever did was spend a bunch of money on military and that stupid Star Wars plan

  • Reagan should nominate in 1976 already.

  • 3:48 is the best

  • Yes indeed one of the greatest Americam presidents: Here in Europe we were building bomb shelters in the 1970's. It was Regan who engaged the Soviets and was primarily responsibe for making the world a safer place for all of us.

We in Europe owe a great deal this man...

  • You had Margret Thatcher and Pope John Paul II. We owe just as much to your courage as you do ours.

  • You know I wonder when those people that held that sign "Reagan will make "peanut butter" out of Carter!" thought they were wrong, and 4 years later Reagan beat Carter in a huge landslide.

  • I wish we had another Ronald Reagan now. In 1980, he had challenges, far greater than we face today. It is amazing to think back to 1980. We were building bomb shelters. Reagan changed that.

  • thank god we're not under Reagan today ...

  • thank god you will be dead

  • Say what you want about Reagan....he made Americans feel good about being American!!.. you can't teach that...he had a gift..

  • Thank You.

  • Thank you sir i am from the phillipines this man gave us job to make our lives better and his not even our president

  • Exactly. The Dims don't want us to feel good about anything.

  • Wow, Reagan badly upstaged poor old Ford, but he probably didn't mean to.

  • tmprogram, your profile says that you're 21. You know nothing of Reagan's greatness. Please read a book, watch old footage, or something else. Learn a bit about this great man before you post such a silly, disrespectful message, you twit.

  • docmagnum, you shudnt have replied to that sorry excuse for a man (tmprogram). clearly, he's way below any decent person's league. just look at how he makes a point, it speaks volumes of how ignorant and uncivilized he is. no one in his right mind would talk that way to any fellow human being..

  • I was thinking the same thing. Except that tmprogram is far from being alone as a young hysterical, prejudiced ninny who can not even use proper grammar. People like him prove how worthless the department of education is.

  • It never ceases to amaze me that people like you who disagree, just don't disagree... they HATE. And what's more pathetic, you show your ignorance.

  • Great leader! I would love to know how he would have responded to 9/11.

  • where is this from do u have more

  • When you listen to Reagan speak, you really get the sense that he truly meant what he was saying. This man had such a love for America and its people, and that love came through in everything he did, both during his Presidency and otherwise. By listening to his two speeches in this video, it's obvious that he was a visionary and an idealist. Ronald Reagan truly embodied the American spirit!

  • Wow...Thanks so much for posting that. That video just gave me more faith and confidence that Mike Huckabee will be the President of the United States some day.

  • I would definitely vote for Mike Huckabee for President in the future. He is a spiritual man, a patriot, and a good man above all else. Mike Huckabee's faith and sincerity won me from day one.

  • Same here. I made over 500 phone calls as a Huckabee volunteer just this past Republican primary election.

  • Phone bank for me!!!!! I need people to phone bank for me when I run for Representative :D

  • Well if I ever move to Texas, I just may! If I ever do move there, it would probably be near Houston area.
