Not even 2 hours battery live and such a slow programm start? I hate to tell you, but there is definetely something wrong with your laptop. Maybe it is even infected by a botnet and it is running something in the background. Seriously, that is not normal for this laptop.

@powerispower3333 yes it can it change to save power. im not sure about the m11x battery life,but due to the power of alienware im pretty sure it doesnt have a good battery life too. If i were in Uni,i would probably take the XPS 15 due to its screen size and sound quality and decent graphics. the m11x is pretty small for you to do your assignments and stuff,and its meant more for gaming wise. but if you have the cash to burn, the m15x would be a fine choice. but on XPS 15 its all about the JBL!

Sorry my mistake. In that case I'm surprised your windows performance would be as slow as it is when starting up/opening programs. It could be the 4gb ram but it shouldn't be. Maybe that's why they recalled/ replaced this processor line

The performance is slow because he has an i5 instead of an i7, and only 4gb of ram. The processor is probably the old version rather than the new sandybridge 2nd generation i core processors.

@timDXking you're lucky. they probably gave you the LG 720p screen which is decent. There's an AUO 720p screen that this laptop could also possibly come with which is just awful.

The 1080p screen beats both with flying colors though (literally)

I wanted to get the i7 processor in the XPS but now when i go to order it, only the i5 is available :( Also now there is only one graphics card option and it is only 1gb.

I am looking for a laptop which is capable of handling 3D modelling programs with a relatively hefty load (for university) and I don't want to get an alienware laptop since the battery would only last like 2 hours.

@MalificanStudiosAU i tried this lappy on power saver mode.screen to the darkest. it can go around 3 and a half hours battery life. im also using it for university stuffs. it handles everything well. but i suggest u get at least 6gb or 8gb of RAM. 4gb is not enough.
