I remember one event here I was attached to an ad hoc color guard.. we were marching forward when the color bearer turned towards me and said something. His breath smelled like a bagfuk of rotten skunk assholes,, luckily the enemy fired a volley at that moment so I was able to drop to the groundand get out of that funk zone.
i don't get to take hits often because ill be behind the line when i'm a drummer boy.. and i go to a lot of small events, and we need to drag the scenario out.
All re-enactors are nice, except for the Nazi SS ones. They take it a little two far, but us nice ones get ours own back. At one event over here the SS guys on a multi-period weekend were sitting in the beer tent after the public had gone home, that had occupied a corner and were generally being unsocial to the other societies. So, our lovely US MP re-enactors stood menacingly around them and when the SS officer asked what they were doing an MP replied "Re-enacting Nuremberg!" XD
@Professsor Im sorry you ran into a group thats no fun...i Do SS and some russian and were always open to questions and were just normal people trying to show what they looked like and die for the GI's hahah. Yeah we dont take it politcaly or anything we just show the other side....cops and robbers someone has to play the bad guy.
We see a lot of Gettysburg videos, a lot of Gettysburg stories and articles and it's always nice to see a different approach. Good job! Very well done.
I don't hear that much, but it's nice when we do. Many of us are there for the spectators and to remember the past(unfortunately, many are NOT there for the betterment of society and we refer to them as farbs.) But we want to teach the general public about the Civil War that they do not get to see in books and on television, and I don't know if you have had mean teachers in the past, but I never learned anything from mean people. So we are usually nice!
Im guessing this is in the south? lol
