  • Главное что не блондин!

  • How many of us can have his commanding range of five octet? He is probably be only one of the few in the world who can do that. Many of us will definitely damage our vocal cord from doing so. What a true talent..I will always be your fan..Vitas..

  • if he's any other nationality than Russian, he's Estonian, and Russian

  • @artulusis

    Did you mean "Latvian-born Russian"!

  • Is this a joke? I was so excited when I read the description, I thought this could be really cool. It's a piece of trash. I'm not even sure what I'm listening to. Jesus.

  • @WaffleRomanoff Again, another person 's taking it too seriously. It 's about his voice , rest is pretty trashy.

  • 2:31 to 3:00 the best part

  • Vitas' high coutertenor voice is AMAZING!!!!!!!!! As well as Vitas himself! I LOVE him very much!

  • Amazing voice and I liked the video a lot. Wish he would make more stuff like this though, I can't say I care much for most of his other songs. But, to each their own...thanks for uploading this!

btw 2:23 my fav part...wish I could do that *LoL*

  • Supeeeeeeeeeer

  • i thought this video was very good. unlike what Heartlessiceboyy says, to me, passion presides over professionalism. this guy sounded very professional though

  • If you are interested in this kind of repertoire or in countertenors you should look here in youtube for real countertenors (so you can hear how a countertenor sounds)like Philippe Jaroussky,David Daniels,Andreas Scholl and if you like Lucia di Lammermoor(that is not countertenor repertoire and it's not even accpetable for a countertenor to sing this) look for a real soprano singing this role in a proper way I recomend Natalie Dessay.

  • Actually, falsetto does count as countertenor... there is falsetto countertenor and modal. Most countertenors are actually singing falsetto, few sing it in a modal voice. Vitas manages both. However, I'm rather fond of this rendition, and I never did say it was opera. Many of the contemporary renditions of this song combine the old operatic piece with a pop/new age twist.

I do like other, more classical countertenors, but as I said, I'm rather fond of the rich tone Vitas has.

  • Heartlessiceboy- 1. Are you sure falsettista is a word? Aside from being Italian for a non-castrati countertenor? 2. Do you honestly think anyone would think this is classic opera? People may be ignorant in many ways, but if they thought classic opera was this poppy, then they'd buy many more classic opera CD's.

  • Yes it is a word very common actually in many historical periods and in many nations .(Talking about a male who sing with falsetto instead of modal voice)

And sad but truth, some people actually believe that this is "classic" opera(one of those persons talk to my about Vitas, that's how i knew about him)

  • Heartlessiceboy-

You are a snob. Not because you don't think Susan Boyle is a singer...she isn't. She's terrible. And I'll let you get away with the same for Paul Potts, and maybe even Vitas. But what possible justification could you have for saying Sarah Brightman is not dedicated? She HAS studied, with head teachers at Julliard and Trinity, and has a devoted career spanning some 30 years.

Mind you, I don't really like Brightman's voice. But to say she hasn't studied is just laughable.

  • Regardless of Vitas's talent or lack thereof---and indeed, there are many better than him---, Andreas Scholl, and Phillipe Jaroussky, and David Daniels are all falsettists, or falsettistas if you like. If you don't know that, I sincerely doubt you are the countertenor you claim to be---or perhaps you just don't have a sufficient grasp of language to use the proper terminology, and simply mean "bad countertenor" when you say "falsettista."

  • No they are not, they are countertenors cause they falsetto is trained like head voice. You think that any random guy who starts to using falsetto is a countertenor?

Second not all the countertenors are use falsetto some of us have "countertenor quality" (chords that are not calcified) so even that the register get lower before puberty the voice is not "broken" I was a boy soprano now my speaking voice is Tenor but i can sing to alto.but whatever you can doubt I don't care I don't even know you

  • People sometimes don't understand that art is not just a hobby, specially a classical discipline like sing(opera) or ballet,These are careers that requieres, years of dedication.A guy can learn basic medice stuff without even studying in a med school but can you call him a doctor? Paul potts,Susan boyle,Sarah Brightman, this guy vitas they are not qualified to be called singers you need to study first.

So if a guy likes to swim he is Michael Phelps!

  • @Heartlessiceboy You are taking it too seriously .Just notice it's very rare for a guy to reach such high notes and get over it. you are snob.

  • @AnneClairee Well dear Ann Claire I'm a singer and I'm actually a countertenor so of course I take music seriously.Maybe you didn't know but singing is a serious career that requires many years of study and discipline. The fact that a person is capable to produce sounds doesn't make that person a singer like just because someone can hold a scarpel doesn't mean that its a surgeon. Why waste my time you probably think that Lady Gaga is going to be the new Callas or Paris Hilton the new Bartoli

  • @Heartlessiceboy Well dear Someone, sorry I don't know Your name...I don't remember saying any of it what's included in your comment....and sorry I don;t even listen to Lady Gaga or Paris Hilton so please don't be so utterly rude .You're wasting my time, maybe you think you're a specialist in that matter but I'm also attending Music Academy ...and i think you are taking things too seriously...You don't know me completely yet you are stating very unfair conclusions..Thanks a lot.

  • @Heartlessiceboy I can say 3 things:

1: He's not an opera singer (he just sings some classical opera songs)

2: Who gives u the right to say us igonant?

3: The one who made this modal is genius.

P/s: His voice can up to 5 octaves. He's not normal like u. May be u can sing opera but can u sing very low song?

  • IMPRESSIVE!...though never would have guessed it was a man singing!

  • Yeah. surprised me too. However, he really is a guy. He sings low in some of his other music videos posted here as video responses.

  • Vitas is awesome, thats one of my fav. operas !

and i'd love to play the violin solo (=

    its simply amazing !

  • Yeah. I'd like to learn to sing this song. I need a lot of work on my vibrato and arpeggios first, though!

  • @TixoyaSlezy

    Yes, it is!

  • Mega Awesome (**********)

  • I'm going to try and sing this song... some day. I need more work on vocal control, vibrato and arpeggios first.

  • He is amazing. I wish I had my range from when I was in my 20's. Vitas and I could do a duet and shatter glass together :-) I have been told that my voice was like that before! LOL

    chris

  • I'm approaching the range he has, but I'm a woman, so I can go a bit higher before hitting falsetto. I was surprised to find my range extending as I sang more and more (see channel CircaRigei). My voice is way off right now, though. It's not recovered since having pneumonia in February, although that mostly affects me on the low end.

Yeah, one tends to lose range with age. I've heard of some sopranists getting vocal chord surgery to tighten their chords back up, but I wouldn't recommend it.

  • Amazing Countertenor!

  • Very good!...thanks for sharing this :)

  • @CircaRigeI

Yo right, Vitas is the best countertenor ever!
