  • Jerry doyle right on the money.

  • I just love how Newt handed papers for divorce to his wife while recovering in Hospital for cancer. That should be enough for anyone to forget this vile creep. His politics is Machiavellian.

  • Conservative radio is great- assuming that it is actually "conservative" (in a limited government kinda way). Fox, Rush, etc have been helpful in moving the country back towards the right, but its time to get back to fundamentals- first principles- and the talk radio mafia gets paid way too well (by powerful interests) to truly enlighten the people.

Jerry Doyle is his own man! Haven't you ever noticed that the rest of the mainstream neocon-types all agree on everything?

  • Google: Bill Summary & Status 100th Congress (1987 - 1988) H.R.1934

Click on "Cosponsors" and you can see all the sponsors. Newt didn't introduce the legislation, John Dingle did but Newt became the 11th cosponsor the very day it was introduced. Newt joined such leftist congressmen as Claude Pepper, Barbara Boxer, Mo Udall, Charles Rangel and John Murtha.

BUT... Newt was not alone on the GOP side. Other go-along Republicans included: Phil Crane, Larry Craig, Will Dannemeyer & Trent Lott.

  • Excellent work on Babylon 5, and now excellent work on Radio...

    GO JERRY !!!

  • Great piece!

PS: I loved your role on B5 ;)

  • The so-called Fairness Doctrine is the anti-First Amendment now unenforced Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rule which chilled free speech on the radio from its FCC creation in 1949 until the Commission voted to stop its enforcement in 1987.

The Fairness in Broadcasting Act of 1987 (H.R. 1934) sprung up immediately after this latter vote to try to turn the Doctrine into law. Then Georgia Congressman Newt Gingrich was one of its 71 co-sponsors.

  • I did find a pro-Fairness Doctrine video that says the bill passed the House by a 3-1 margin – and that Gingrich voted for it.

It also passed the Senate – but President Ronald Reagan thankfully then broke out his veto pen.

This was all of course in the midst of the dark days of the Republicans’ 40+ years spent wandering in the House Minority wilderness, so there was rarely any need for any Elephant to sponsor anything – they were an irrelevant species.

  • So you think Newt will advocate The Fairness Doctrine?

Maybe u think he'll will enact cap-and-trade? Maybe not follow the Constitution.

Come on man. Get real. Maybe go hunt for some inspirational clips of Romney.

  • @pgran He's simply asking you to look at the candidates' records. I remember how Gingrich sided this way and that for decades. I recently did my homework on Newt for myself and found hundreds of bills he voted on and the majority were unconstitutional votes. He's not a Constitutionalist.

  • "Hundreds of bills?" Newt, discussing over-reach at the Reagan Library forum a few month's ago, struck me as someone with an unusually profound grasp of constitutional law, as well as common law that relates to hist'l prec, and showed a desire to curb abuses of common law's twisted interpretations via means of out-and-out brawling with courts (using the constitution) who do not follow constitutional decree, and, repealing/defunding legislative and executive over-reach.

  • I trust he will follow the constitution unless it impinges upon being an effective wartime President and ‘keeping us safe;’ like it or not, a conservative principle.

  • @pgran

You are allowing yourself to be brain washed, by this toxic and pathetic excuses for a politician. You just don't get it do you. All devils speak great, listen great, talk a great game, use fancy words and quote history. But Gingrich is pure psychopath material. His record speaks for itself, both his personal and political career and he is an embarrassment to America and needs to go crawl back into the hole he came from. This man is going to start WW3, you can bet on that.

  • @pgran

He is flat out endorsing the abolition of our constitution in this vile book he wrote a foreword in. Is that the world you wish to live in? Did you not hear about the new NDA bill that the senate wants passed, that will pretty much take all our rights away and soon lead to MPs on the streets? People like you are refusing to see how bad it is getting. Newt is a horrible person and a hypocrite and if he gets in power, he is slowly going to turn this country into fascist state.

  • @pgran

You need to wake up, brother. You need to research this man, and see how corrupt and what a panderer he is. Then research Ron Paul properly and you will see the clear difference and why Newt tried to oust him from congress back in 96. This is truly Angels Vs Devils, it's no joke at all. We are facing imminent economic collapse, that the globalists want, and Newt is all part of that cabal. Trashing your vote on him, is one more step to trashing America.

  • ...Virtually EVERY conservative of the day supported the Fairness Doctrine in a naive hope that it might help them gain a voice on air. Little did they know what was soon coming as a result of the bill NOT passing.

  • I find it ironic that someone would speak ill about a conservative promoting the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. Jerry, you either don't know what it was like for conservatives on air in 1987, don’t remember, or conveniently choose to tell a half-truth simply because you already made a choice NOT to vote for Newt, for whatever reason.

In 1987, there was no Rush. There was no conservative radio at all. There was no Fox News and virtually every source of on air news in the country was left leaning...

  • He's just pointing out that Newt could very well be the status quo. I have been following closely Dr. Ron Paul's positions for 4 years now and Newt Gingrich did not have the same policies as Dr. Paul until recently? Why? Because maybe he knows that's the prevailing political winds right now. Have been researching bills he's voted for over several decades and he's a globalist. This country is on the brink of economic catastrophe and we don't need another globalist or socialist now.

  • @Max2385 So the fairness doctrine was a good thing to help conservatives but now is a bad thing because it would help liberals? How about the fairness doctrine is wrong in principal no matter who it would benefit? Using your logic, Gingrich co-sponsored an unconstitutional bill because it would help out his own party gain a foothold in the media. Is that supposed to be a plus for Gingrich?

  • @Max2385 The fairness doctrines repeal is what made Rush possible. You can't have conservative radio with the fairness doctrine, it makes it illegal.

What you had was a board of government employees making sure that it was fair, that the different sides both had their voices heard, and that usually meant that it was liberal as with most government employees they lean to the left and think the "center" flag is just where they are standing.

  • @Max2385

Do you have any idea how toxic Gingrich is? The only reason he is up there in the polls, is a reflection of the ignorant americans who listen to fox news and who neve mention a thing of his horrible past. The man is a closet communist. He is basically another Stalin, and his voting record and endorsement of past policies prove that. He is a CFR member, and a Rockefeller imp as well, who have always been for one world government. Do your homework before it is too late.

The man wants to shit all over our constitution. He doesn't care about the people.

  • @Max2385:

I find it ironic that someone who calls himself a "conservative" would support Newt Gingrich. But then, for most self-described "conservatives", conservatism has never been about principles, but about identity and partisanship. After all, George W. Bush's government expansion and corporatism was perfectly acceptable for most so-called "conservatives". After all, he had a capital R after his name, so that was no problem.

  • Thanks, Jerry... Wee bit hard to put the puzzle together without all the pieces...and this is important. "Fairness Doctrine" sounds innocuous like the "Patriot Act"...OR... the third wave...not capitalized on purpose. Have caught your program every chance I get...since learning about you. Surely need you...Our Country does...

  • Ron Paul is the man of truth, the man of the constitution, the man of this country, rperesenting us. Please EMAIL< CALL<CANVASS for Dr. Paul. watch my vid, go to my site and click around for more info, add to your meetup groups. ECCfortheCIC 2012!!

  • Good work Jerry. I heard these clips about the real Gingrich long ago, but it is nice to see them resurface. Too many conservatives think the Newt is one of us, and nothing can be further from the truth.
