  • Thayil has his own style on the guitar, which a lot don't. This is one fucking good example

  • BROWN COW!!!!!!

  • At 6:02 he goes from Morrison to speaking in tongues... how creepy. haha

  • HOW NOW BROWN COW!!!!!!! YEAHH!!!

  • gotta love the line where chris goes"laughing every time i toke".

  • @YeshuaISMessiah1 that;s not the line.

  • THIS was Soundgarden! Not that watered down stuff that they played on the radio.

  • Comment removed

  • LOL

  • Doing the Jim Morrison ! HAAHA :D

  • just like James Duglas Morrison !

    5:53

  • god I wish i could have seen them before breaking up...always loved them

  • @oldpunkster

    does it matter their back.

  • feeling like a complete loser, for missing the best decade in music, cause i was in fucking diapers.

  • Soundgarden coming to blues fest yes

  • Matt Cameron is RAPING that drum kit! Beast!

  • what is he singing from 6:15 on, name of song he is interpreting? I cant figure it

  • @zzunic Roadhouse Blues by The Doors

  • @Kviele thanks

  • So much epicness, it's unbelievable. Soundgarden will always rule.

  • My body gets that buzz everytime I watch/listen Soundgarden live... Chris Cornell is the best fucking vocalist ever... Nothing will change that. Simply one of a kind.

  • @KobySGSRV

back then there was so much competition with the persona of cobain and eddie vedder, with time cornell stands out more and more and more

when I listen to him I feel proud to have been around then, like the boomers must feel when they hear people listening to Hendrix, an ex of mine was so proud his mom went to a Hendrix concert when she was pregnant with him...Cornell is like that vocally, it's more obvious now than ever since things have quieted down

  • Cornell singing Morrison... it's a musical orgy.

  • 3 letters for the breakdown: WTF

  • I love the Doors breakdown fucking awesome

  • THUMBS UP FOR SKID-DOP BOP SKIP DIP BIT YE YABBA DABBA DAY-YUH!

  • jesus is my friend

  • I love how he throws in " how now brown cow" haha great band

  • I feel that many of the vocal oddities here are due more to the rigors of being a rockstar in your mid-20s and not taking ANY sort of care of yourself or your instrument. The vocal chords are a muscle; you have to stay hydrated, nourished and rested for muscles to work right. Smoking, drinking like hell, and staying up all night on a tour bus eating God-knows-what isn't conducive to belting it out consistently all night, every night.

  • hey now brown cow!

  • THIS IS THIER BEST SONG! EVERY WORD I SAID IS WHAT I MEAAAAN!!!

  • God this video is GRUNGY.

  • ANYONE WHO TELLS U GRUNGE IS DEAD IS A MORON, GRUNGE IS THE SOUL OF HUMANITY, PRIMAL,ANIMALISTIC AND TIMELESS, ANYONE DISPUTES IT, OR PUTS IT DOWN, BEAT THEM TILL YOUR TIRED.

    LOVE OF ALL MY GRUNGERS

    ~v~

  • how now brown cow... unique new york....

THE ARSONIST HAS ODDLY SHAPED FEET!

  • @adrock1011 BRILLIANT RESPONSE, OKIE DOKEY

  • Cornell is stoned out of his damn mind in here, as proven by 6:20.

    ...So awesome

  • gonna roll roll roll gonna fill my soul allright

  • @werobanks no, it's "feel my soul allright"

  • Nice tribute to Mojo Risin. Brown Cow. Jesus Chris looks like.

  • @1776bricks The blue bus, is calling us

  • ohhhh godverdomme rock!!!

  • Ben's bass isn't hanging low enough

  • @igotwhips Don't you know that's how you play bass. When I was learning, my instructor said, "put the body of the bass on your big toe."

  • Bottom line. NO1 can sing like he does in the studio recordings in a live touring setting. Talk about setting yourself up big time. He blew himself out early and thats kinda how that whole style goes. It sounds amazing when you get 1000 takes to get it right in the studio with as many breaks as you need, but live-- no way. Happened to Plant too. Peace.

  • @yetzirahsan Also he's not playing guitar while he sings in the studio or paying attention to the crowd and equipment etc...everybody's better in the studio, and he happens to be the best in the studio

*good point you made with Plant being the same way

  • @cgnetwork1

Thats a real good point too that most don't realize. Playing counter to what youre singing over impacts the vox a great deal-- because when you kinda have to look down for a reference point to play the parts right, you can't stretch the head as high to hit higher notes. A similiar prob happens when singing high parts and playing keys. Thanks!

  • you can tell him struggling at first, it may have been later in the show and he was fatigued, or just invigorated by the amazing-ness of this tune, but once that prechorus and chorus section comes up...he goes fuckin ape-shit on that microphone. Cornell forever!

  • hands down the BEST version of this song ever played. changed tempos or whatever - way too tight. video is amazing. you young fuckers don't understand: THIS IS SOUNDGARDEN. forever.

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey! I here some stuff of the Doors Roadhouse blues from 06:00

Haha thats some kind of cool =D You gotta roll, roll, roll, You gotta thrill my soul Roll, roll, roll, roll-a

    Thrill my soul.

    And then the improv! =D

  • It's no wonder Chris had to take a personal hiatus from singing.. he seems so exhausted in this video

  • @venusasaboy1991 i feel liek that when im fucked up playin. i bet its the drugs.

  • This song kicks so much ass, that words fail me...

  • i hate chris cornel !!! hes vocals r just AMAZING and soooo hard 2 follow that my own vocals CREACK OUT half way hes high notes... and i hate doing the falseto 2 reach them... SO UNFAIR !!!

  • so bleeeeeeeeeeed your heart out....theres no more rides for freeeeeeeeeee....his voice is off the scale

  • THIS IS REAL MUSIC!!

  • "How now brown cow, alright!" They better come to Philly on that reunion tour! I'll be seeing AIC and STP this spring. With Soundgarden too, I'll pretend it's the '90s again!

BTW: there's a Slaves & Bulldozers live version on the BadMotorFinger bonus CD that's almost as cool as this! Thanks for posting this, fluttergirl!!!

  • what's chris doing at 6:30??

  • @WWChrisCornellDo he's improvising from the door's song "roadhouse blues" where jim morrison starts doing skat.

  • Yeha it is man, I know it sounds sick. I wish that was somehow put in to the recorded version of Slaves & Bulldozers

  • I love the jim morrison reference in the middle haha

  • Yes

  • The Gods of Grunge

    The Sultans of Stoner

    The Bringers of the Sludge

    Are Baaaaaccccccckkkkkkkk

  • malodesi-i agree, Ben's performance was great. i could see a lot of humour goin on there ;] GGGGRRRRUUUNNNNGGGEEE! good times

  • Is that supposed to be a mosh pit?

  • Send out the tour schedule NOW!!!

  • YES!!

  • Kim Thayil makes his soul come of that guitar EVERYTIME!!!!!!!

  • lol Ben Shepherds Performance is insane(just like the other band members too^^) its just not easy to play the bass, when its hangin at your knees^^

clearly one of the greatest bands of the 20th decade!

  • you mean 20th century?

  • @eruptionmat

Ohh....ehhh.........oops, of course, if soundgarden lived in the 20th decade, they probably would be a bit skinny now!^^

  • yeah...like two inches

    lol

  • RAWRRRRRR

  • 6:17

  • THE GODS ARE BACK IN 2010 !!

  • i love soudgarden,i love grunge!!!!!!!!!!!.thanks goooooooooooddddddddd for the grunge music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hell yeh camel;. no need for tats or make up or flashy shows back then . just crazy hardcore guitar riffs. omg

  • Oh & Matt drops his stick at 5:49 haha

  • Every live video of S&B I've seen Matt's playing open hand on the hihat.

  • he's the best. i saw this video in high school when i started playing drums and i ended up being an open-handed player...wonder how that happened

  • Saw them in 91. So so good.

Not one tattoo in sight... Love it. They were the days!

  • dude that would've been sick!

  • great song. ha at 2:45 the people dont like the song. fuck them. soundgarden rules.

  • 6:20 best part and then and then...........

  • vaya ciegada llevan los soundgarden , brutales como siempre

  • its quite interesting this, because it sounds more, stoner/sludge style

    and THAYIL just explodeds!!!!

  • this song is what got me into this band. chris's voice is so fucking powerfull in the chorus. one of a kind band man.

  • great song! love the soundgarden, no?

  • How come Chris was good with SG and AS and kinda sucks solo? I mean, I was really into SG and AS, but I don't like his solo works.

  • i don't think he sucks with his solo stuff.. it's just different. but it's supposed to be different. why would he want everything he does to sound the same? he's just trying different things.

  • He sux, because he misses the chemistry with other members, general mistake people make when they go solo or kick out bandmembers. What happend with weezer after pinkerton?

  • @filteredglitch Yeah, it's different. And it sucks. Simple as that. It's not about styles, it's about it being crappy. It's just a bland, uninventive, booring, bad pop-rnb-rock hybrid. As far as those genres go, there is a LOT better music out there.

  • @quathar well that's your opinion. people like different things, and what one person thinks is crappy, another person thinks it's awesome.. that's just how it goes. no one is wrong for having their own opinion.

  • @filteredglitch Sure they are. Here, I'll show you; your opinion is wrong.

  • @quathar thank you for pointing that out. i have realized i've had the wrong opinion for all this time, and hope that upon changing it, i can have a correct opinion.

  • @filteredglitch You are welcome. Just make sure you change it to the actual correct opinion. Your life will be much improved.

  • @filteredglitch very true, he also learns what works and what doesn't work, so when they make a new album, its AWESOME!

  • @filteredglitch Why should only people who like heavy grunge get to hear his words? You are exactly right. Like Maynard said, why make the same album over and over?

  • @1776bricks WHAT THE HEL R U TALKING ABUOT, ALLOW ME TO ASSUME YOU IN SOME WAY CRITISIZING CC?

IF SO YOU ARE A ONE DIMENTIONAL DUMMY.ANY MALE,WITH ANY PRIMAL INSTINCT WHO HEARS HIM CAN TOTALLY CONNECT AND APPRECIATE THE OUTSTANDING ,SUPERNATURAL WHOLENESS OF HIS TALENT.ANYONE WHO THINKS LESS, SHOULD REALLY, KEEP THEIR UNEDUCATED THOUGHTS TO THEMSELVES ISTEAD OF WASTING SPACE, AND SINNING AGAINST THE TRUE GOD

  • Comment removed

  • @filteredglitch RIGHT, AND HE sucks AT NOTHING, WELL, PERHAPS SOMETHING, BUT IF HE IS DOING ANY SUCKING IT IS RELATED TO PERHAPS A NICE COLD FUDGE BAR OR............. :)

    ~v~

  • @filteredglitch

Agreed. For all the haters, please watch his interview about scream... He preferred doing something different, not in purpose to get new fans or make more money, NOT AT ALL! Chris has never been one of these. There's proofs for that. He just got that offer from Timbaland (Who also told him his thoughts about how he's the greatest alive and how much he appreciate him...) to do 3-4 songs.. and that's the way things rolled on... By the way I liked his album...

    ROCK ON !

  • @KobySGSRV he was/is a well balanced man..in a way reminds me of Maynard James Keenen..in a very slight way..about balance..

  • in SG and in AS he had great creative musicians around him. Now he does the songs by himself, so there are always only his ideas for the songs, not the ideas of 4 people.

A solo artist will never be better than a band, because of this reason.

  • AS was certainly not as good as SG, AS is way too basic in drums and riffs. AS is more populair because of irs simpleness, SG is way deeper and not as easy to get into as AS.

The solo shot CC does has never been special, too bad cause his voice is awesome specially on Badmotorfinger!

  • At 6:00 it's come from a Door's song !!! :

    Roadhouse blues !

    You gotta roll, roll, roll,

You gotta thrill my soul, alright.

    Roll, roll, roll, roll....

    Thrill my soul

    alright !!!

  • WHT`S A Door's song ? A song of them or HUAT !!

  • LMFAO,

I was literally just playing that game too...

    "Grabbim Pills"

  • I swear to god, Valve based the Smoker's design from Left 4 Dead off of Ben Sheppard clips like this.

  • Kinda random and not about the music, but I want his hair. Guy's always have nice hair. Sings like nothing Ive heard off too. Miss the old Chris.

  • grunge for ever

  • I think this is one of the hardest SG songs to perform live... but still chris was able to reach those terrifying vocal heights.. whew... hands down to Mr. Cornell here

  • lsd

  • So good!!! Music was great in this era!!!!

  • and omg that takes balls to just blurt anything like that lol around 6:40

  • part of being an artist is doing new things, yah most of us soundgarden fans arent into electronic crap liek what hes doing now, but, hes entitled to develop, as for money i think hes past worrying about cash, he will come around again

  • He sounds tired and out of breath if anything, I think he sounds fine.

  • Not wasted. Doesn`t get wasted. Shut up, this was 17 years ago and this was unbelieveable. rediculous live!!!!

  • MORE !!! from this show..

  • Chris sounded pretty wasted here,ya think?

Maybe not one of his best performances.

  • so what, hes a rock god.

  • Chris is god!

  • 6:02

  • Chris my hero!!!

  • 9:23 Ben was just jammin on his bass then HOLY SHIT THERE'S A SPIDER ON ME

  • Hahahaha. It does look like he just got scared by a spider.lol

Then he goes for feedback, which is amazing. :)

  • i wish i would of been there,HELL YES!grunge never dies

  • check out some fugazi and realize where Cornell went wrong. He is awesome but if he were truly awesome he would have let himself fall into obscurity. Hell, the milllions he made off of the fortune of being from seattle in the 90's should have clued him in to the gravy train that allowed him to start riffin jim morrissson to a cluelesss audience.

  • Sorry. This is pretty good.

  • anyone that can say anything negative about Cornells amazing talent is a brainless idiot, musically inept and tone deaf.and their momma probly chases roadkill while paw thouroughly enjoys scooping up manure and chicken shit.\

    hee haw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think the guy is great, but you can't tell me whether or not i have to like that new cyber punk pop swill hes putting out on his new album. i bought tickets to his show in philly and with it came a free download of the new album. yes of course i was going to go without knowing what the new album sounded like, he's a tremendous talent! after i listened to the download i decided to blowoff the show DOLT!!! i would appreciate it if you want to send a reply, make it an intelligent one. peace

  • No one likes change,I think after all was said and done Cornell regreted the move to collaborate with Timberlane, He is no fool, and he can certainly see the end result did not do his talent a bit of justice. I knew i wouldn't be shortchanged, and I wasn't, he played alot of his old stuff & took the mediocre and spinned it into all CC.I enjoyed the concert immensly. He didn't miss a note, and engaged the audience masterfully. . Chris has proven again he is and always will be top dog.

  • hello 1st thing i was writing a reply to adriatickitty and your right about change however i did not like the music he was performing to with the exception of 2 i still enjoyed his voice which is why i enjoy him so much but i like it set to rock & roll and of course to that james bond song which i loved. i thought the concert was going to be all of his new album had i relized he was going to play older songs i would of definately went well thats my bad and i'll suffer the consequences next gig

  • 5:30 is that some Jim Morrison improv?

  • I likd whn i hrd the chick frm Califrnication sed that she had a fantasy back in the dAy TO go and stck cHris Corneell. totlllay worth stocking. sexy guy!

  • 3:59

Chris i think almost sings a top G

which is pretty much the highest any man on the whole of earth can sing. He is fuckin insane

  • i don't give 2 shits what you people say about audioslave, chris cornell will always be the best voice in rock, you can't change it, i can't change it, so let it fly!! he has his right to do what he wants, and if 1% of you asses could sing 1/2 as good you wouldn't be talking crap!!!

  • totally agree dude couldn't have said it better myself!

  • Audioslave rocked. People are retarted who think otherwise. You sir said it right.

  • alright, so calling it a joke is a bit much but it wasn't a particularly good mix, in my mind. sure, it's an all star band and was much better than velvet revolver as far as those go but i think cornell's singing ability was limited by rage's groove bias. which isn't bad but their music sounded better with zack going apeshit on top of it. as for scream, i think it's brilliant now that i've listened to it more. there's really nothing this man can't do vocally.

  • now i know why you've been shaking!

    SO BLEEEEEED YOOOUURR HEEEAAARRTT OUUUT!

good stuff. One of their best songs along with Mailman, Burden in My Hand, Tighter and Tighter, Hands All Over, 4th of July and Head Injury.

  • I actually like Scream for the most part. And I can't rip on the guy for thinking outside the box. He's still my 3rd favorite musician ever. He's just waiting to come back with a vengeance!!

  • if fnm got back together then sound garden sound tooo!!!!!!!!!!

  • full of himself? shit, if i had that voice, i think i would be too. people get caught up on how the power in his voice has fallen off the table but nobody ever mentions how much soul the man has attained over the course of his career. he's a much better singer now. nowhere near the vocalist he was, without any doubt but a phenomenally improved singer. all that's going on right now is that audioslave was a joke and this shit with timbaland isn't what people expect and don't know how to swallow.

  • The new album Scream is ok, but I agree it isn't what people expected and so they are renounced Chris Cornell and it seems like everything he has every done. If you don't like the new stuff, why be angry? I'm not a big fan either, but Scream doesn't make his older stuff with Soundgarden or Temple of the Dog any worse, does it?

  • Dude.

I'm not saying that experimental albums from artists are forbidden, but there are simply things that you can't do as an artist.

Madonna will never release a death metal album, Slipknot will never release a soundtrack to a children moovie and Chris Cornell will never release a hiphop album?

    Think about it.

    Your opinion will change directly.

  • you're absolutley right, like motley crue trying to do "grunge". there just some things that shouldn't be done, chris is a screamer

  • I thought about it... what your saying to me is that if an artist gets inspired and starts going into a creative project that is completely different than anything they've ever done or been known for... It shouldn't be allowed. Simply because their are too many single minded people out their. Who can't even try to understand an artist going through changes. Cause that's what all great and true artist do, they change, for better or worse.

  • ... Its not acceptable because you the selfish consumer of music says that its not rite that Cornell makes a hip hop record? I think what's unacceptable is people who are not creating music putting restrictions on artists & musicians. You don't have to like or ever listen to what these changing artists are doing, no one will make you. Just like no one can decide what cornell or any other artist does. They have the talent & will do what they want with it. Regardless of what anyone says. hopefully

  • think about that... or this.

Can you create music like Cornell has over the past decade? Or can anyone do what Cornell has done, that agrees with this? Realize how lucky you are that people share THEIR music (themselves) with you. For your entertainment or whatever else you decide to use their music for.

I haven't even heard his latest record hopefully I never will. Still I respect an artist for challenging and constantly changing themselves. Only when I know they deserve it.

  • well said

    +1

  • Thanks

  • Lucky? Are you kidding me? He produces music, we buy it. People release music because they stand to make money off it, he is lucky because he made it big. Chris let all his fans down with his new album.

He can experiment with bullshit music all he wants, but he is trading his loyal fanbase for 14 year old girls who know nothing about his musical accomplishments in the past.

  • Not all artists make and release music to make money.

I grew up with Soundgarden as one my favorite bands and I've been disappointed with at least 5 of the 6 or 7 records he's released since SG yet Im not complaining about it, I've just moved on. So quit taking cheap shots at Cornell and find yourself a new band or artist to obsess over. Or better yet go get a guitar and try and top a record like Superunknown. Then tell me how easy it is to "make it big"

  • Your post is one big pile of bullshit.

  • top badmotorfinger . Top 5 albulm all rime.

  • uh huh... whatever

  • ben shepards hair is brilliant

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO!

  • i like this plenty
