I really didn't enjoy this performance from Natalia. It wasn't as clean as it could have been. Ivan, however, was full blown amazing.

@FerocityQueen I disagree. He performed his variation not only clean, but with personality, amazing turns, high jumps, pointed feet, and beautiful legs. Natalia: I don't like how flicky her wrists are, and I realize that is how some directors prefer this variation. I dislike how she passes so crossed behind her leg. And how she preps for a turn with such uncertainty. I absolutely hate her prep for the menage. She was waiting there for far too long...

As sacrilegious as it may sound, but I very much prefer Nina Kaptsova's performance to Osipova's... It seems to me that the FoP PDD is (to a certain extent) about the contrast between male strength versus female grace, and Kaptsova (partnering with Vasiliev as well) somehow shows it off better for me.

But what do I know anyway - I'm not a dancer at all, Classical & Opera is more my field ;-)

Ivan Vasiliev physics is awkward. I appreciate that his technique is superb, outstanding, but there is something annoying about his line, his upper back and shoulders, buttocks, he has too many muscles out of proportion and he is not a tall dancer which makes it worse. I wish I could have seen his art but too much effectism to compensate other things did not make it for me. I only could see a man with a huge derriere jumping and turning.

its a double reveltad landing devant... its usually done landing to arabesque or an ouvert 4th position, in which case you would do half a turn less, but for a powerful man like vasiliev why not do the extra half ;)

Someone will probably say i am wrong to call it a reveltad, because technically he would have to land on the same leg he takes off from.... So in that case i guess it would be called a double tour jete landing devant, but you get the idea...! i would still call it a reveltad!

@philking58 Actually, the spelling is revoltade. But your right about the rest, what I have learned is that a revoltade an entrelacé (or grand jeté en tournant) with an extra turn in the air. The turn has to be done not completely vertical but rather angled with the floor.

Her shoes look sooo dead. I know it's not her feet cause they look gorgeous when she jumps, but she wasn't over her box half the time, and i've seen her other videos where she's absolutely perfect. It was still amazing dancing though!

I think she isn't all the way over her box because of all the hops she has to do. You can't be all the way over for hops. The shoe looks fine on the turns.

very interesting opinion, maicpybgirlie. what you perceived as vulgarity is a huge reason why i love osipova. she actually performs, similar to how the ballerinas of decades ago danced (before people really cared about turn out and extension), but thankfully she is quite technical as well, and it doesn't suffer for the sake of performance. flames of paris is a story ballet afterall, so believable character is essential.
