  • Just got vintage-spec 12 position Wilson. Pricey but what a sweet sound! Thanks Brett! That is third effect I bought based on your reviews - first two were Wamplers - Ego compressor and Pinnacle OD - extremely happy with both. Naxt I am thinking about Wilson's Haze Vibe...

  • I always know it is going to be a good day when I hear the phrase "pimpy porn wah". hahah

    great demo, Burgs.

  • Brett, thanks for the vids... I tried a CAE wah last week and was very impressed, how does the wilson 12 position compare: sweep range and action? Any chance of a comparison video? Nick

  • @nvbeer Hi Nick, I'll run a comparison in a couple of weeks. I've just received a new one from Wilson - a Rippah Vintage Spec 12 Position Wah - and it's fantastic. It works beautifully with fuzzes too; more so than the CAE which has a buffer that can muck things up. The Rippah is true bybass and that makes a big difference, but I'll show you in a forthcoming video.

  • @Burgerman666 Thanks in advance for comparison demo. I live in melbourne, do you post where you upcoming gigs are?

  • @nvbeer No sweat. I'm playing Fed Square this Friday night with James Reyne, for the football festivities. That should be fun. All other gigs are usually announced on James' website. Cheers.

  • but it costs a goldmine.. i'll still go for the bob bradshaw wah..

  • Man that cable really does look like it illuminated!?!

That looks so bloody cool - do you hear that cable makers - I want illuminated cables!!!

  • great wah but I'll stick with my RMC3

  • awesome demo. what is the difference between this and the vintage spec ones and rippah q wah?

  • @LukeManos I'm not sure exactly as I haven't tried the others. I'd love to though! More info on their website, I believe. Or maybe Kevin will chip in and answer some stuff for you here. Kev?

  • @LukeManos This particular one is a stock wired Wilson Wah. The stock wiring uses all modern capacitors and transistors as well as metal film resistors. The Vintage Spec models use NOS Mullard tropical fish capacitors, Vintage transistors and carbon composition resistors. The difference in this circuit compared to the Q-wah is there are a few different component changes as well as the inductor is a little different than that of the Rippah and Q-Wah. The Rippah is a different wah circuit.

  • @wilsoneffects thanks for the detailed and quick response. greatly appreciated

  • @LukeManos

    You're welcome

  • @wilsoneffects Ahh! There's some enlightenment. Thanks, Kevin. Now, of course, we must hear the Vintage Spec model as well. :P

    I jest. This one's killer. :)

  • Another great demo, man. Thanks for that. I now want this wah. BADLY!

  • Wow, the wah sounds great. Wilson FTW

The Q spot knob sounds like knuckles cracking.

  • I own the 6 position wilson. One hell of a pedal.

  • Brett:

Where'd ya get that funky purple cable that lights up when the effect is turned on ?? very cool...

  • @JimmyJames902 Providence cables. They sent me a bunch. I'm a lucky bastard. Best cables I've ever used.

  • @Burgerman666 = I thought that was just the light from the front corner 'on/off' light on the wah that was shining on the cable. The cable doesn't really self illuminate, does it ? Awesome wah. Do you think it gives the CAE MC404 a run for the money? Oh, and the playing's awesome as always.... the outro to Oh, Oh, Kimberly.. ;--) Great song!! And of course gotta love the SHAFT comp'ing!!

  • @3dsman Heheh. Sorry, Keith! No man, the cables don't self illuminate. That would be cool, though. I might have to suggest that to their R&D man.

Yes, this most certainly does give the CAE a run for its money in terms of versatility. For sure. No boost like the CAE but the Growl will scare the front end of most amps.

Kimberly, ha! I forgot about that one. I was referencing Isaac Hayes and Barry White tunes, for sure! A metal head mixed with a closet black funk machine. Maybe I need therapy. :)

  • @Burgerman666 Ha! I think we ALL need therapy... can't be living the life if not, right? ;-) I thought your Oh Kimberly 'outro' was what I can only call 'a moment'.

Whenever I listen to that CD I always loop that section of the song over and over. Glassy smooth, absolutely wonderful touch. Ok, enough of that... get me some of those self-illuminating cables and I'll see you in therapy!!

Oh, i'm DEFINITELY considering this wah.. was your demo the 'vintage spec' version?

    Keith

  • @3dsman Hey, my fine Texan friend! No, this is the stock version according to Kevin. I'd be keen to hear the vintage spec version too, but for now this one will do fine. Thanks for the flattering 'Kimberly' comments. I wish we still played that tune live so I could get the funk out. :)

  • oh man, this is the best demo of any wilson wah i've seen so far.

    5 stars.

    or thumbs up, whatever.

  • @cshsfg Thanks. i appreciate it. Easy to do, though. Kev's stuff is the duck's nuts.

  • whats the intro song?^^

  • @habbit0091 Shaft. Charles 'Skip' Pitts. Look him up. Great mate of a another cool cat called Isaac Hayes.

  • @Burgerman666 thanks buddy :D awesome tune ;D I often heard it on tv but never knew who played it^^
