You are incorrect. The surge took about 18 months to demonstrate its true effect. Look at today's statistics. The Sunni Awakening plead a major role with overall stability. Your argument is baseless when not considering current statistics. Failure.

George W. Bush and Dick Cheney should have been placed on trial for treason and high crimes. Reason...their LIES about weapons of mass destruction that ended up causing the USA to go into an unnecessary war that lasted for years. We still have people there. Iraq was MUCH BETTER OFF under a dictator of their own country (Saddam Hussein), compared to being invaded, occupied and held accountable to the USA. While negotiations should be peaceful, I think in history, many negotiations were backed up with force. Of course having an upper hand in the military end of things gives you more leverage.
