  • Caution!! Watching this video will cause extreme goosebumps, and (in my case) major wood!! One of my favorite rock songs of all time!!

  • Thank you Nancy!

  • lessons from nancy her self= the only way to learn heart songs <3

  • Wait till I tell my sister what I just found on you-tube...Nancy Wilson giving a guitar lesson on Mistral Wind...I'm a little proud of myself, I figured some of it out. Heart is the reason I started playing guitar. My dad bought me a 12 string for my 16th birthday back in 79. Thanks Nancy...I'm mesmorized!

  • She can explain all she wants, but its like Wha? Shes a guitar god all the way!!!

  • I love how she calls it "your little finger" instead of "pinky". :D

  • Check out their last album, Red Velvet Car, its really amazing how they keep getting better.

  • @mjt11860 you r so right!!

  • I just want to say i think it is really great to see nancy doing a guitar lesson .i love her music and she is just a beautiful down to earth lady, one in a million!! i could only

dream of ever meeting someone like her to play music with.. maybe in my next life!!

    LOL. keep rockin nancy!!

  • Im so happy to find this. A guitar lesson from Nancy Wilson. OMG She is so adorable. I LOVE HER LAUGH. I could listen to hear talk all day. Fantastic guitar player and sweet lady. She gets better with age.

  • WOW this is AWESOME!! thanks! pub. by Hal Leonard eh? I just found an old guitar instruction book of his.

  • Amazing! I cannot wait for my band to do this song...I am sending them this incredible video, thank you, Nancy !! I LOVE YOU GUYS!

  • jimmy page's female counterpart!

  • @Eddie3890 why apologize?

  • I would love to just hang out with Ann and Nancy, sing along and just be smoked by their talent. What wonderful musicians

  • love this tutorial. wow

  • What a beautiful teacher!

One of the best songs from Heart, thank you Nancy!

  • Again, another Heart song I love and have been playing but differently. Sounds SO much better now. I've been trying to find a lesson from her on the "Crazy On You" intro.

  • playing and writing music is just like painting a picture with different colors and tones but only with sounds.

  • Nobody compares to The Wilson Sisters. Nancy is an amazing guitar player and to have a lesson by her is so awesome. Thanks for this!

  • Can you imagine Britany Spears or Lady friggin Gaga doing something like this? No me neither!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The most beautiful guitar teacher in the world !! Our angel from god !!! & Oh..btw..Thanx nance!!! Ha Ha!!!

  • I truly love the guitar in Mistral Wind. It is why it's one of my faves.... the notes are so odd but they seem meant for each other and sound sooo good :) Haunting...passionate song <3 Nancy<3 she's too cute.

  • THE Best!!! ever!!! Love Nancy's guitar work!!!!

  • love this woman. amazing talent, fearless innovation

  • Nice. A real artist.

  • Best Heart song !

  • She seems like a very sweet woman. I could listen to her all day and trust me, I don't play guitar and I have no idea what she's talking about. Peace :)

  • Man, I don't even know what she's on about and I could still listen to her talk...that's weird.

  • I'd sure like to meet Nancy Wilson. She sounds like a nice woman. Isn't she based in Seattle? I am based in Eugene, Oregon.

  • Roger Fisher and DeRosier wrote the ROCKIN stanza of the song ....

  • One of THEE coolest Heart songs to date. Interesting how i know ALL the chord names/theory but could never come up with anything nearly as interesting!

  • I love how half the time she doesn't even know the chords or notes. So many players now can play a hundred notes a second and know every note, chord, and phrase...but hardly any of them can play with the feeling and innovation of players like Ann or others from the 60's through the early 90's. Just my thoughts.

    Best wishes,

    Dr. Donald Ryles

  • She is so special and unique. She takes what doesn't fit and makes it beautiful. I am amazed at how underappreciated she is. I loved hearing her explanation. don't understand because I do not play music, but you can hear her genius. Thank you.

  • I love this video, own the DVD, fell in love with her all over again. She's one of my all time inspirations...

  • Is this video from 90's or more recent.. Such a easy going and really nice lady..That era or generation of musicians is so cool and easy to understand..She's probably been playing since the 60's..Strong ass fingers for a woman..She must have wanted to hook up with Page for a jam or lessen by the mid 70's anyway..Id love to here that..What would be missing is Pages fucked up quality..But he'd probably be to fucked up to deliver it..

  • she is an awesome guitar player!

  • sounds like an Alice in Chain type song huh? you can tell that AIC was inspired a bit by Heart

  • @Hammersmashed68 That's an interesting and excellent point.

  • Nancy thank you so much for taking time to share your thoughts, knowledge, and talent with us! I used to sit in front of my stereo when I was a kid, trying to play a skewed version of Mistrail wind. It's great to finaly learn the proper way it's played. Please share more if you can! Love ya!

  • Nancy is amazing!!

  • That's cool; bet it costs a pretty penny?

  • Nancy, love u even more now for taking the time to do this - you rock!

  • I love this piece especially the F/G chord that holds the song together!

  • the most guitars i have seen her play is martin and co. she has like 10

  • I noticed she's using Takimine guitars mostly now. She seems to have abandoned Ovations which is a shame because she looked really cool playing them and she really put them on the map. I bought several just because of her.

  • Ditto; she does look cool playing them & that's why I have one!

  • She usually plays Takamines now, but I've seen her play a 12-string Ovation fairly recently. I agree that she looked cool playing Ovations and I remember seeing her in Ovation print ads, but I think Takamines sound better.

  • @avocate201

I have a Takamine-same company makes Ovations. The higher end Takamines have a "woodsy" quality that I think Nancy was looking for. The Bowl-backed Ovations have a snappier, bright tone meant to cut through the sounds typical in Rock bands.

  • Wow. Cool background on one of my fave Heart tunes. Thanks for posting!

  • Amin -G#maj7, Gmin-F#maj7, F-G/F -- cool.

  • I have so much respect for Nancy and Ann for not only their glory and talent but also that God chose them to stand out so far from the crowd. With Nancy, it's so very clear in all her spoken appearances and here that she is truly a sweet kind considerate and amazingly, despite her beauty and talent, humble soul. Compare her attitude and sanity to say...Courtney Love or Yoko Ono - somehow Nancy has had the eye of the world upon her and remained rather angelic. How can anyone not fall in love?

  • Neither Nancy or Ann are 'schooled' musicians... both are naturally gifted people who taught themselves. Both miraculous!

  • thank you Nancy!! what I love most about this is that you really did make the song pull the listener from the shore out to sea...truly a mistral wind...

  • So much talent and so easy on the eyes. Her musical genius is bliss.

  • She's so funny, the way she says "We feel like we're a sailboat.." and she's so serious when she says it!

  • Nancy Wilson (instructional acoustic guitar) DVD. I saw a copy a "Guitar Center" store if you have those. Otherwise, google this

    ASIN: B000OAD7C4

  • The "weird" jazz chord she alludes to @2:16 is a simple major 7th. I LOVE her playing but I guess she doesn't know much theory...

  • weird does not mean lack of knowledge. Just weird. Much like if we traded partners. Still human but different. So she is a musical genius, not a schooled nobody. You know there are many out there!

  • Is familiar to me this chords , in my opinion zepp chords are little dificult

  • Got all excited and found these free Heart videos and made a bad call. Comments on a few Heart videos about Nancy puttting on a few pounds but was Ann that done it. Just goes to show how old I'm getting, got the two mixed up. You still rock Nancy on your Mistral Wind song, that was great!!!

  • what a genuinely nice lady, really a cool person

  • Hey BacotSia. That is just a harmonic. The one she does here is at the 12th fret. It takes a little practice, but hold your middle finger lightly over the strings at that position over the 2 dots. Lightly down stroke the 1st 4 strings with your pick. D,G,B,&E. At the same time, move your middle finger off the strings. Just be patient and keep trying. You'll get it soon. There's also one at the 5th and 7th frets. They're a little harder to make though. Cheers!

  • Nancy Wilson, how I love the way she plays. I been playing guitar for about 30 years and I learned from Nancy's playing. It's almost like sounds you never heard from the guitar. I wish Heart would get together with Blackmore's Night.

  • I have a quick question.

How do you do that ringing sound or whatever it is like on 7:36?

I've been trying to figure that out for a while now.

  • ナンシーのguitar lesson、珍しいVTRですね!!!

    驚いた事にナンシーが弾いているギターは僕も愛用してるTakamineのGuitarです...

    Thank you.

  • Gosh, this woman is awesome...!!!

  • My sister figured this song out by ear back when this song came out. She has an amazing ear for acoustic guitar.

    Great song.

  • I'd like to hear her do this with her new Martin D35 signature model

  • A lesson from Nancy herself. Incredible! Thank you very much.

PS, Heart should be in the rock and roll hall of fame!!!

  • ¡beauty ! bravo gracias

  • I have always wanted to learn this. Would help though if I had A Guitar huh? lol
